“Emily doesn’t live with me.” Belle was surprised that someone saw Emily in her place. “None of us will believe you until you take us to your apartment and see for ourselves.” Tina said with her hands on her waist.

“But… but…” Tina cut her off. “No Buts, just take us to your apartment if you are telling the truth,” Belle sighed.

“Okay, but I have other things to pick,” she said and Tina smiled. “We also have things to pick. We’ll go with you when you are done shopping.”

“And you have to hurry up.” Step Mum address. “Yes Ma’am.” Belle turned around. She bit her lower lip so hard and clenched her fist. She blamed Emily for that because all those wouldn’t have happened if not for her.

Belle paid for what she bought and when she turned around, she didn’t see a glimpse of Tina and her Mum. She heaved a sigh of relief while hurrying out of the store with the bags.

But as the door closed behind her, she saw Tina and her Mum waiting beside a taxi.

“You wanted to run away right?” Tina scoffed. “Of course not,” she laughed nervously. “Then what were you trying to do?” Step mum asked her. “I didn’t see you guys inside so I decided to come out. I know you would be outside,” she smiled.

“You wanted to run away. Anyways, we’ve already stopped a taxi. Hope in.” Step Mum and Tina sat on the back while Belle entered the front. She hated that moment and never wanted it to repeat itself.

Truth be told, Belle was afraid of step Mum as much as Emily too was afraid of her. She has never seen that woman smile since she knew her many years back.

Belle glanced at them through the rear view mirror. She saw them whispering to each other, she wondered what they were talking about that they didn’t raise their voices. Her prayer deep in her heart was they shouldn’t try anything foolish with her in her place.

They arrived at her house some minutes later and she sort the taxi bills. Tina and her Mum didn’t pay and she had to pay to avoid embarrassment.

She unlocked the gate and they entered even before she could entered. They watched her unlocked the house instead of knocking and Emily would open it from inside.

“Aren’t you supposed to just knock?” Tina was surprised. “No one is inside to open it.” She turned the handle and opened the door wide for them to enter. “After you.” They entered the living room and Belle closed the door.

“Where’s Emily?” Step mum asked her. “I already told you Emily isn’t here.” She took the bags to the kitchen and returned back.

“Please sit. What can I get you?” she asked them. “We are not here to eat or drink. You know where Emily is so now that we are here with you and no one is here, you can start speaking.” Step mum said.

“I don’t know where she is.” Belle was getting worried. She knew if they kept pushing her with questions, she would end up telling them the truth.

“How many rooms do you have in the house?” Tina asked her. “Two.” She answered. “Okay then. Which of them is yours?” she asked again. Belle didn’t know why she was interested in her house.

“That one.” She pointed to the one on the right. Tina stood up from the sofa, she went to the room at the left and opened it. “This is the room Emily is staying or should I say, stayed.” She turned back.

Belle was shocked, she didn’t know how Tina found out. But then she had a feeling that Tina might be trying to pull her legs.

“Emily never stay here,” she said. “She stayed here, do not lie. Her scent is still in the room.” Step Mum stood up from the sofa and went there too.

“Tina is right.” She turned to Belle. “Now tell me where Emily is.” Belle’s heart started pounding, she knew she was in for it. She wished she hadn’t brought them to her house but the deed has already been done.

“Belle, start speaking!” Tina yelled at her. For some seconds, Belle developed some confidence. She put her hands on her waist and chuckled.

“Why are you two acting like you put Emily in my custody?” she asked them which took them aback. “Excuse me.” Step mum was shocked.

“You heard me right. You guys have been asking me if Emily as if you have Emily to me. I already told you Emily isn’t staying with me. I’m surprised you two are asking of Emily now after what you did to her. She left home and you didn’t ask her where she was going.” She moved closer to them.

“Yes, Emily stayed with me but she has already left.” She Sneered. “I knew it.” Tina bit her lower lip. “Okay, now that she has left. Where did she go to?” step mum asked her.

“Why do you want to know where she lives? You want to go there and finish what you started with her right?” She chuckled. “Just tell me where she is.”

“Well, I’m sure you can’t even do anything to her if you know the kind of life Emily is living now.” She smiled. “What type of life? Emily got a job somewhere and I know she’s serving as a maid there,” Tina laughed.

“Oh really? Then laugh as you want. Emily isn’t living the life you wished for her. She’s now staying with a billionaire.”

Tina and her Mum exchanged glances and started laughing.

“A billionaire? More like a poorionaire,” they laughed. “She’s not just staying with him. She’s married to him.” They stopped laughing and Belle giggled.
