The Billionaire’s Surrogate
Chapter 63 (WHO’S HE?)
Chapter 63
“If I’m not mistaken, she once told me that she doesn’t want him to get married. Only God knows why,” Joey sighed deeply. She looked at Evelyn’s picture on the wall and shook her head from side to side.
Evelyn has been her best friend since childhood. They did things together until Evelyn decided to start following bad friends. She remembered she has tried warning Evelyn about her new life but she wouldn’t listen to her.
Joey was more happy than everyone when she heard Evelyn was getting married. She thought, that was the end of Evelyn’s indecent life until years later when she adopted Harry.
She tried her best and told Evelyn to tell her husband the truth about Harry but she didn’t listen to her. That man did a lot of things for her and the least she could pay him was to take his life.
“Huff.” Joey exhaled. She was so exhausted from driving and everything. She just wished Evelyn could be alright so that she would leave her place. She was already fed up with her attitude.
“If only she has listened to me. I warned her to re-marry instead of going around with men. Small enough to be exact age with Harry. But she didn’t listen to me. I also told her to at least use protection and she did but… Oh God, I’m so scared.”
She stood up from the chair and went to the bed. Joey lay face up with her legs on the floor. She closed her eyes tightly and exhaled deeply again.
Through out that night, the only words you could hear her say was ' oh God' and a deep sigh.
Next morning, Evelyn was up as early as possible. She took her bath, dressed up and left the house without waiting for breakfast. She arrived at the hospital just the time Evelyn opened her eyes.
She met a nurse standing beside Evelyn who was muttering something and moving her head. Joey entered the room, she dropped her bag on the table and approached them.
“You are just in time.” The nurse said. Joey moved closer “What is she saying?” she asked the nurse. “She has been uttering a name since last night. It’s Harry.” The nurse after hesitating.
“Harry?” Joey chuckled. “Yes, who’s he?” she asked. “Harry is, he’s her son.” She looked at Evelyn pitifully. “Oh I see. May be you should go bring him. She wants to see him.” The nurse suggested.
“I can’t, her son doesn’t know she’s in the country. And besides, he would lose it if he finds his Mum like this.” Joey quickly added when she saw the confused look on the nurse’s face.
“She doesn’t want me to tell Harry she’s in the hospital,” she laughed nervously. “Okay, you can take over.” The nurse left the room leaving Joey.
Joey heaved a sigh of relief as soon as the nurse left. She would have make things go bad with her mouth.
“Joey.” She turned to Evelyn who has opened her eyes fully. “You are awake.” She sat on the chair and moved closer. “Where’s Harry?” she asked like a whisper. “Harry isn’t here,” she said and Evelyn closed her eyes.
“Are you alright?” Joey held her hand. Evelyn nodded her head with her eyes closed. “Thank you,” she whispered. “Do not thank me. Do you know how frightened I was? Don’t you ever do this again,” Joey warned.
Evelyn smiled, she tightened her eyes more as she was feeling pains down in her tummy. She opened her eyes slowly and they fell on Joey who was sitting on the chair.
“Joey, I’m sorry okay. But you know I have to do this,” she sighed. “I’m sorry girlfriend.” She apologized. “Alright, apology accepted. But don’t do this again.”
“I promise,” Evelyn smiled. “Do you need anything?” she asked her getting up from the chair. “No, I want to rest. But hope you didn’t tell Mum and Harry?” she asked. “No, I didn’t. But I was going to if you hadn’t open your eyes.”
“Hey,” she giggled softly. “Do you know Mum would be worried now? I didn’t even call her since I came to your place,” she smiled. “Yes, but why are you smiling?” Joey was surprised.
“Because I don’t feel bad for not calling her. If I have the chance, I won’t return back to that house. I want to live a free life. After all, I don’t know when I’ll be gone for good.”
“Stop saying that. You won’t leave us now,” Joey said. “I have a feeling I won’t last a year,” she smiled. “You can’t leave now, you still have a lot of apologies to make. You have to tell Harry the truth and you have to tell them about your twins.”
“But there’s nothing to say about those kids. I already told you they are gone.” Evelyn raised a brow. “And you think I believed you? Of course not. Those kids are still alive and I know they are with you. Look Eve, the world won’t last long. Tell them the truth now, apologize to them and bring your kids back.”
“Do you think the kids would ever forgive you? They are still young, you should apologize to them before they grow up and hate you the most. You know it would be so hard for them to forgive you.”
“Those kids are already 23. And I don’t care if they forgive me or not. I have Harry, he’s everything I need. Do you know why I don’t want Harry to get married?” she asked her friend who was staring at her Surprisingly.
“No.” Joey answered. “Because I want him to fall in love with me.” Joey’s surprised expression changed to a shock one. “I fell in love with that boy since he turned 15” She went on.
