The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 14: His Best Deal
Chapter 14
When he drove inside, the house was brightly lit. Even the beautiful night sky couldn’t be compared to the mansion’s magnificence and the same feeling he had when he first arrived here a few weeks ago came back. The dream of every man was to be rich and live in a nice home with his family. But he wanted more than this. He wanted more than a nice home and just a beautiful wife.
A servant was standing in front of the wide door and when he parked his car, she rushed to him.
“Master Cedric, you’re here,” she greeted with a bow and he nodded impassively.
“Young miss has been waiting, please allow me to lead the way.”
He nodded again and followed behind her.
While walking, he allowed his eyes to size the young girl from behind. She must be at the right age to marry… As all her figures were in the right place. The world wasn’t fair. Why couldn’t all the beauties belong in the social circle with the nobles where they belong? But then, there wouldn’t be brothels, or comfort homes, as he liked to refer to those places. Beautiful women were what brought joy to a man’s heart. Unfortunately, the women in his life weren’t that attractive. But fortunately, he got his father’s looks.
He froze in his thoughts and stood still as his gaze strayed to the girl standing ahead. He wouldn’t call her gorgeous. For even though her beauty exceeds that description, pure was the word he would like to use. Everything pure and ethereal would only look up to her. Her innocence and those large sparkling eyes that always wandered like a child’s. He wondered how he of all people got this lucky. Her beauty never ceased to amaze him. And the first time he lay his eyes on her, he felt that everything he had worked for, and more he would strive to earn all deserved to be his.
She was dressed in a white simple dress, a great compliment to her jade-like skin. The dress did nothing to conceal her beauty but even acted as a light to illuminate it.
The only thing she lacked was the elegance and airs every heiress carried around. Those characteristics were replaced by her cuteness and innocence, things that always stirred something in men, either in the right way or the other way round. But he wasn’t sure what he was feeling at the moment.
“Brother Cedric.” Her lips curled up in the most innocent smile and her eyes lit up. She didn’t walk but skipped toward him like someone that had seen a present. She was too innocent and it was startling.
Lucy held his gaze but couldn’t feel those butterflies that she had heard about. Her heart did not also waver. She just felt normal like with any other person around her. She wouldn’t put it as familiar, even though they share the same blood in some way. And she was beginning to worry.
“Hello, Beauty… Did I keep you waiting?” He took her hand and said softly.
Lucy slowly nodded and even though she was a bit sad, she didn’t let it show on her face. He might be busy and have something important to attend to. Besides, he had driven here all the way from Country V, he must be exhausted.
“I had to take care of some meetings.” He looked at her apologetically. “I ran out of time and had to rush here immediately it ended. Don’t worry, next time I’ll come with your gifts.”
Lucy parted are lips but no word came out. She nodded obediently and sighed inside. Did he see through her mask? She wasn’t mad, or sad as she would like to put it, because he didn’t bring her anything. The ones he had brought last time, she hadn’t even had time to open them. She wanted to open her mouth and protest but bit her tongue in the end. He might perceive it differently and her mother had warned her to behave. No man would like to be nagged at in any kind of way. Except one.
She quickly shook the thought of him away. He was trouble and wherever chaos erupts, he always went looking for it.
They both sat on a couch in the living room and Ara returned with a tray of two juice cups and placed it on a table then moved the table closer. “Thanks, Ara,” Lucy said and glanced sideways at him, sensing his silence.
He had his eyes on the maid and Ara must have felt that because she quickly bowed and scurried away. “Brother Cedric.”? She called out but he didn’t seem to hear her.
She looked down at her hands and sighed.
“Oh. My love, I just have a thought… Why don’t we have this type of unform for our servants when we move into our house? I like it,” he finally said after the maid disappeared out of sight.
“Th–That would be great.” Lucy gave him a half smile.
They weren’t even engaged yet and he was speaking about marriage. And the endearment he used for her— It sounded strange in her ears. And her heart, it finally stirred with emotion. She didn’t want to call it hate, she didn’t hate people. Also, she wasn’t a fool to be convinced that he was only admiring the maid’s uniform.
She gave him a cup of juice, her hand trembling slightly. It was as if he had been waiting for her to do that.
“Thank you,” he whispered, holding her gaze.
His words were nice but his eyes said a completely different thing. She couldn’t read faces but her instinct did not like whatever that look meant.
“Uncle and Auntie must be sleeping.” He gave her the cup after sipping a little and said, “I wish I could see them now. I’m afraid I won’t return before the engagement.”
“Oh.” Lucy paused before placing the glass down. Her hand wandered to pick her own juice but she suddenly didn’t feel like drinking it.
