I Married My Ex-fiance’s Father
Chapter 44.
Chapter 44
Ouch!
Why does my neck hurt this much?
It's not like I slept on the sofa bareheaded,
I had a pillow supporting my head throughout the hours I slept.
“Ma’am?”
“Make me a cup of avocado smoothie.”
She bowed her head and hurried off.
The moment I stepped out of the bathroom, I saw light from my phone’s screen.
When I picked it up, I noticed I had more than ten missed calls from the maid I had left at the hospital.
What is the urgency?
When I go there, I will find out.
I tossed the phone on the bed and then sat down in front of the dressing table.
When I was done dressing up, the maid arrived with the smoothie.
“Are you going back to the hospital, Ma’am?”
That's what I was planning.
But now I am so tired and need to rest.
“Yes, but that will be later.”
She bobbed her head and then left the room.
After drinking up the whole content in the cup, I lay on the bed and instantly fell asleep.
My Goodness!
I sprang up from sleep, swearing profusely.
Geez!
That was the most terrible dream I've ever had in my life.
What on earth was that?
Ahhh.
Gbam!
Who is that?
“Come in.”
I said amidst a yawn.
My personal maid who brought me the smoothie earlier came,
And this time, her expression wasn't good.
“Are there any problems?”
She bobbed her head.
“What is that?”
“The baby is dead.”
Uhn?
Whose baby?
Wait, what!
Is it Jessy’s baby?
Is that why I had more than ten missed calls from the maid at the hospital a while ago?
“When? How?”
Gosh!
This is terrible.
“As soon as you left the hospital.”
Whoa!
Oh, Jessy,
How heartbroken she would be.
And the baby was so cute,
Who would have assumed that a healthy baby would give up the ghost so soon?
I grabbed my car keys from the table, picked up my phone, and left the room.
But my limbs were trembling so I had to call my assistant to drive the car to the hospital.
When we arrived, Jessy was on the bed, crying profusely, and the baby’s bed was empty.
The moment I stepped in, she lifted her head and pointed a finger at me.
“You witch!”
Uhn?
Is she out of her mind?
What did I do?
“You killed my son, you evil thing.”
Is Jessy out of her mind?
I understand that it is so painful to lose the baby she has been waiting for for a complete nine months.
But that doesn't imply she should accuse me because we aren't on good terms.
“How could you do this to me, Blair? What did I do to you?”
She is even serious about this,
What nonsense.
I can take anything from her except a murder accusation.
What is that?
“Can you stop it already, Jessy? I wasn't even here when your baby died. What is wrong with you?”
“You left after feeding my baby poison!”
Excuse me?
“Poison? Who told you I fed your baby poison? Was it the doctor? Or the nurse?”
It is so confusing.
What I fed the baby was the milk on the table.
Was it poisoned and I didn't know?
“Mrs. Harris, I already told you the baby wasn't poisoned.”
The doctor said worriedly.
“Then why was he throwing up a white form?”
Uhn?
A white form?
That can only happen when a person is poisoned.
But I didn't poison him,
“Seriously, Jessy, you are looking at this the wrong way. Stop accusing me of what I didn't do.”
She cleaned her face and sniffled.
“You will tell the truth when you are tortured enough!”
What nonsense is that?
“I knew you meant no good since the moment you came into my room and even brought me here. You are evil, Blair, and I will never forgive you.”
Jessy is out of her mind.
Seriously?
A few seconds later, the cops arrived.
As I was still trying to figure out what they were doing here, Jessy pointed at me.
“Take her away! She killed my son.”
What!
“What!”
The doctor exclaimed shockingly.
“She didn't kill your baby, I already told you.”
Does she even know what she is doing?
“They can't arrest me, I have no hand in his death.”
I stepped aside, but one of the cops grabbed my hand.
“Do you know who you are trying to arrest? She is Mr. Frederick's wife. If he finds out you guys treated his wife…”
“Shut up, or you will be arrested too!”
The one holding my hand yelled at the doctor.
“This murderer is coming with us.”
What!
I am not a murderer.
“Leave her alone, this is a family issue and it will be resolved as soon as Mr. Frederick returns. Can't you see that she is pregnant?”
The doctor was more worried than me.
“What does her being pregnant have to do with this? I was locked in prison while I was pregnant too!”
Jessy scowled.
“Take her away, officers, I detest her!”
She cried out.
The doctor tried to stop them, but they turned a deaf ear.
“Don't worry, Frederick will soon return. Just give him a call.”
I said to the doctor before I was taken out of the room by the cops.
Jessy is playing with fire.
When Frederick returns and finds out about this, she will regret it.
This is stupid.
I was only trying to help, and now, I am the murderer.
“You will stay here.”
He pushed me inside the cell so hard that I would have fallen on the floor if not for the quick intervention of the lady inside the cell.
She got hold of me before I could fall on the floor and yelled at the officer.
“Are you nuts? Can't you see how heavy she is?”
Nevertheless, I still felt a slight pain in my waist.
Why am I being treated this way when I am not guilty?
Heartbroken, tears flowed down my face.
If I knew things would turn out this way, I wouldn't have helped her.
I would have stayed at home and allowed the maids to be with her in the hospital.
