Chapter 17

Assistant Li respected him a lot even in the absence of people. He never do anything that would make Sterling angry. Rather, he would always try to make him happy.

Sterling has never for once insulted him that he was adopted. Assistant Li already knew that but he never cared about it.

Working in Sterling’s company has been his dream ever since Sterling became the president of the company.

But he was still young at that age and was made his home Assistant instead.

Assistant Li waved at Isabella as he walked past her on the stairs. She wanted to ask him what Sterling said to him but Assistant Li didn’t even stop.

Isabella’s mind was now at rest that Sterling did something which she wanted.

That showed her that he was in love with her but wouldn’t just confess it to her.

That thing that happened that day didn’t pass her friends. She group called and informed them all what Sterling did for her.

Her friends praised her and wished her good luck. They thought Sterling didn’t love her and she was only wasting her time with him but when she told them that, they believed he was in love with her.

The next morning as Sterling was about to leave the house with Assistant Li, the girls came out from their room carrying their bags.

“Wow!” Assistant Li exclaimed.

“I didn’t know you girls are this pretty, I would have fall in love long time a go,” he teased them just to make then laugh.

“Look at you, Assistant Li. You always know we are pretty but have your eyes on the Butler’s daughter.” One of them said.

“That’s not true.” He signaled to them to keep shut while he glanced at Sterling.

“But that’s the truth. Did something get in to your eyes? You are blinking it.”

The girls laughed at him and Sterling grinned slightly.

“Well, you girls look happy,” he said to them and they nodded their heads.

“Yes, we are happy that Mr. Hawthorn didn’t fire us but gave us a break,” they giggled.

“Awn, that’s great,” Li chuckled.

“Thank you so much Mr. Hawthorn, we are so eager to return back and work for you again.” They bowed their heads.

“Mr. Hawthorn says you are welcome.” Assistant Li interpreted Sterling’s glance at him.

“Wow!” The girls exclaimed.

“We didn’t know Assistant Li can now read Mr. Hawthorn’s sign.” They exclaimed.

Even Sterling was surprised. Assistant Li wouldn’t read anything he would indicate with his face.

“Yes, I’ve been learning it for years now and now, I can boldly say I’m perfect.” He winked at them.

“Congratulations, Assistant Li. Before we return back, we want you to be so perfect with it,” Li nodded his head.

As Isabella came out from the room, she started hearing voices from the living room.

She thought they had guest until she saw the maids talking and laughing in front of Sterling.

She thought the maids won’t go again until she saw their bags on the floor.

But she was surprised to see that Sterling was standing there looking at them laugh.

“You are still here? I thought you’ve left,” she interrupted them.

“We are about to leave, Isabella.” Assistant Li said to her.

“And what are these girls still doing here? Shouldn’t they leave now?” she asked Sterling but he ignored her.

“Mr. Hawthorn, thanks for the nice hospitality. We’ll leave now.” The girls bowed their heads smiling, glanced at Isabella and walked out of apartment.

Isabella frowned her face. She wasn’t happy about that. She didn’t even want Sterling to see them before they would leave the house.

And the way they were behaving showed that something was definitely not right.

“We’ll leave now, Isabella. See you later.” Assistant Li waved at her and he left the house too with Sterling.

“What nonsense,” Isabella hissed. She went inside the kitchen to fix herself a breakfast but came out with just a bottle of milk and some bread.

If the maids are still around, she would have ordered them to make healthy breakfast for her.

When Sterling and Assistant Li arrived at the office, Assistant Mike was surprised.

Sterling has never taken Assistant Li to the company before, he was always at home.

He didn’t know what Sterling was thinking to have brought Assistant Li to the company.

“What are you doing here?” Assistant Mike asked him after Sterling has left to his office.

“Oh, I’m starting work here today. Isabella made Mr. Hawthorn fired the maids so, no one to stay at home with again,” he smiled.

“Like seriously? There are other servants in the house that you can stay with. You don’t have to come here, just talk to your brother to stop bringing you here.”

Assistant Li scoffed. He already knew Assistant Mike doesn’t want to see him close to Sterling. And for bringing him to the company, things won’t end well between them.

“I’m not going to leave, I’ll keep coming here. You are only jealous,” he said.

“No I’m not. I just don’t want distractions. Well,” he smiled. “I’m the only one that knows Mr. Hawthorn sign language.” He boasted.

Assistant Li didn’t say anything. He bowed his head to him and walked away.

Assistant Mike wasn’t happy about that. He would have talked to Sterling to stop bringing Li to the company if he want but he dare not.

In his office, Sterling was going through his phone when an email came in.

He clicked on it to check what that was and it was a message from Pure Heart Entertainment inviting them to the vote for Vivienne’s return to the industry.

A smile escaped his lip and he lifted up his head to talk to his Assistant but found no one in the office.

He thought they followed him there. Sterling was about to call them when both of them appeared in the office.

“Get the contracts ready, the meeting is tomorrow.” He instructed.

“Yes, master.” Assistant Mike bowed his head and left the office.

“What about me, big bro? What should I do?” Assistant Li asked him.

“Go help Assistant Mike.” He wasn’t happy about that but he had no choice than to do what Sterling ordered him.

“Good!” Sterling laughed shortly after everyone has left the office.

Finally, his actress would come back to the industry. And about the partners, he wasn’t worried about it.

He knew it would be a piece of cake as they would all be eager to partner with him.

( The day to vote)

The next day, Assistant Mike and Assistant Li came out of the office carrying huge piles of documents. The employees in the company that saw them with the documents were surprised and wondered where they were taking those to.

Unknown to them, their boss was taking those contract documents to PURE HEART ENTERTAINMENT where the vote was to take place.

Those documents were all written for each of the companies belonging to the business men he went to see the other day to vote for Vivienne.

As they stepped out of the reception to put the documents inside the car, they started arguing on who to put the document first.

Assistant Mike sighed, he was already so fed up with assistant Li’s attitude. He was always getting on his way and wouldn’t allow him do his job properly.

Even the previous day that they were working on the document, assistant Li didn’t let him focus on what he was doing. He insisted they share the task so each of them would have total number of the contract to prepare.

He didn’t argue any further with him because of Sterling who showed up in the office they were typing the contracts.

“Move it!” Assistant Li commanded.

He wanted to be the first person to put the documents inside the car but Assistant Mike also wanted to put them first.

As they were still arguing, Sterling stepped out. They both went mute as if they saw someone that wanted to take their souls away.

“It’s Assistant Mike, he doesn’t want to let me drop these.” Assistant Li nagged.

Sterling sighed inside, he was already getting tired of the both of them. They wouldn’t stop acting like kids.

He ignored them and entered the car when the body guard standing there opened the door for him.

“See? The boss is angry because of you.” Assistant Li sighed.

They watched as Sterling was been drove out of the company. It was clear to Assistant Mike that Sterling wanted them to come in the same car.

But it would be better if each of them go in the same car. He would even like it more if he could drive in the same car with Sterling. But he had no choice because he wouldn’t be seen arguing with his master.

“Assistant Li? I think we should go now. Mr. Hawthorn wouldn’t be happy if we don’t get there on time.” Assistant Mike smiled at him and walked away to another car which was already opened for them by the bodyguard that would go with them.

Now, they didn’t argue as each of the doors were already wide opened for them.

Some minutes later, they arrived just in time Sterling was getting out of the car. The both of them heaved a sigh of relief and hurriedly got out of the car.

“I’ll go ask Mr. Hawthorn if we should bring out the documents.” Assistant Li said but Assistant Mike already knew it wasn’t yet time for them to take the contracts out of the car.

“No, not now.” he said, closing the door.

“What do you mean by not now?” Assistant Li was surprised. “You aren’t even the Boss.” he added.

Assistant Mike nodded his head. He wasn’t the boss, he already knew that. But he knew the boss wouldn’t want them to take those things out.

People would look down on him because they will all say he is trying to bribe the business men in to voting for Vivienne.

“I still have to ask him.” Assistant Li insisted. But he let him go. After all, there was nothing he would say that will make Assistant Li believe him.

He watched him go to where Sterling was standing beside the car speaking on the phone.

Sterling glanced at him and raised a brow, asking him what was wrong.

“The documents?” he asked.

“Leave them in the car.” Sterling said to him and continued speaking on the phone.

Assistant Li didn’t like the fact that Assistant Mike was right, he was jealous but he pretended like nothing was wrong.

Assistant Mike on the other hand wanted to laugh at him but he didn’t want to downgrade himself in public.

He gave him the I told you look when Assistant Mike returned back to where he was standing.

After a while, they all went inside the company and were taken straight to the hall where the vote was to take place.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t only the shareholders, partners and the sponsors of the industry that were present there, even all the employees of the company were there to cast their votes too.

But Sterling didn’t mind, he already knew those people were going to vote for Vivienne and not Sabrina.

After all, who would want to miss the opportunity of partnering with him? Absolutely none.

So Sterling has no problem with that. And to even think that some of them already has been trying their best just to be on his good side.

That was the kind of an opportunity that only comes ones.

Assistant Mike held the chair for him while he sat down after exchanging pleasantries with the president of the industry.

“As you all know…” the president of the industry called everyone’s attention after they were all sat down. It was only Sterling who they were waiting for if not, everyone was already present.
