Chapter 6

Some minutes later, Assistant Mike came back with the guy he went in with.

“She’s already taken care of, Mr. Hawthorn. You need not to worry about her.” He bowed his head.

Sterling nodded his head without looking at the Assistant and they drove away from there.

When they arrived home, Sterling went straight to his study room which was one of his favorite place to be when he’s always at home.

Few months ago when his Mum was still at home, they would always spend time in the garden playing games and chattering.

“Mr. Hawthorn, you are back.” Assistant Li bowed his head. He put down the transparent cup of banana and strawberry Smoothie on the desk in front of Sterling.

Sterling nodded his head. He picked up the cup, examined the content in it before nodding again.

Assistant Li heaved of relief. That was the first time Sterling was approving the first Smoothie he would present to him. If it was other days, he would turn down the first one, second one and even the third one.

“Assistant Li?” Sterling called when he turned to leave and he hurried back. “Yes, Mr. Hawthorn.” He lowered his head.

“I want you to…” He paused again. He didn’t even know how he was going to tell him to do something which he didn’t even know about.

“Go check if Assistant Mike is still around.” Assistant Li bowed his head and left without saying a word.

He never liked Assistant Mike because he always thought Sterling preferred him to him.

Wherever he wanted to do, Assistant Mike was always the first he would mention before him.

And luckily, Mike was still around but was getting ready to leave when Assistant Li called his name.

“I wonder what you and the Boss are hiding now.” Assistant Li folded his arms. Assistant Mike shook his head and sighed.

“Say whatever brought you here. As you can see, I’m already planning to leave,” he said to him.

“The Boss wants to see you in his study room.” Assistant Mike didn’t let him finish the next thing he wanted to say and he brushed past him.

“What da!” he exclaimed. “Whatever.” He rolled his eyes. “I’m going to make the Boss like me too.”

Sometimes, Assistant Li was always mistaken to be an effeminate because of the way he behaved.

“Mr. Hawthorn.” Assistant Mike lowered his head.

Sterling lifted up his head from the book in front of him. He picked up a paper on the desk and handed it over to Assistant Mike.

Assistant Mike unfolded it to see what was written on it and it was an order for him to find out about Vivienne.

Sterling wrote that as he didn’t want to say those long words.

“Do not leave any information about her out of it,” he added and Assistant Mike nodded his head.

“Yes, I’ll do as you’d instructed.” He left the study room again.

“I’ll continue saving you all the time, my mysterious woman,” Sterling smiled.

He didn’t know he was going to see her anytime soon again. He didn’t know her husband was a jerk who would send her out to repeat what he sent her to do the previous day.

“I need to know who she is, why she’s following his instructions and what kind of a husband he is. I’m going to take you away from him.” He clenched his fist in anger.

Before he would leave for his room, he received a call from the hospital asking him to come quick.

( A bold step)

“This is the second time, you bitch!”

Pak!

Sebastian slapped her face. Vivienne staggered back but was able to hold herself on the wall.

“How dare you repeat this!” He reached for her hair and pulled it.

“Ouch!” Vivienne groaned in pain, trying to free her hair from his grip.

“Release my hair!” she cried out but Sebastian gripped it more as if his mind was fueled by her cry.

“Tell me, who is that jerk that keeps saving you!” He gnarled at her.

How was she going to know when the next place she always found herself wasn’t with him/ her?

“I’m talking to you!” He threw her on the bed.

“This is Domestic Violence and you know that, Sebastian!” she yelled at him.

“Hope you know what is going to happen when I report this to the authority,” she threatened him but he laughed on her face.

“You are threatening me now, right?” He clapped his hands. “Look here, you bitch. No one is going to listen to you.”

“Do you know who that ma was? That was Mr. Bar,” she interrupted him.

“Yes, I know Mr. Barnard. You don’t have to remind me about that. Wasn’t he the one that wanted taking advantage of me that I told you about? Why then would you send me to that kind of a person? Why are you acting this way, Sebastian.” Vivienne fell on her knees.

Her lowr limbs were so weak that they couldn’t hold her weight any longer.

Why are things just happening to her that way? Who has she offended?

No one told her not to marry Sebastian back then. She would have said it was because she didn’t listen to them that those things we’re happening but no one said that to her.

Maybe if they did, she would have listened to them. Maybe if her Granma has stopped her, then she would have canceled the wedding.

“Since you chose this, then I am going to deal with you! You will regret this, Vivienne!” Sebastian threatened as he left the room.

He was going to divorce her, she knew that. But wouldn’t it be a slap on her face when he does that? What is she going to tell her Granma? What would people say about her?

She cried out loud. Vivienne wasn’t ashamed to cry out that moment, she was already tired of the beatings from Sebastian. She had endured that for months but not anymore.

Her body ached her a lot, she has scars all over them. And now her face.

She crawled to the dressing table to see her face which has turned red from the slaps she received from Sebastian.

Vivienne crouched beside the dressing table and buried her head in between her knees.

What was she going to do? She chose that life for herself. Wouldn’t it have been better if she seek for a divorce long ago when he started the maltreatment?

She didn’t know his Maltreatments would migrate in to sending her to spend the bed with other men.

What kind of a man does that to his own wife? Sebastian indeed is a monster with no feelings.

But then, she remembered the man that always saved her. Who knows, he might be the perfect person for her.

“A man?” she chuckled painfully. “I’m done with men, they are all the same.”

But then, she remembered she promised to look for that person that always saved her. Then she would thank him or her then go her way.

If it’s a woman, then she might stick with her and they’ll become friends. But a man? She shook her head.

“I’ll thank him and go my way.” She cleaned the tears on her face and sniffled.

But before she would stand up from the floor, her mother in-law came inside the room with a mocking look.

“You got what you wanted, you adulterer,” she laughed at her. “Oh, and I forgot to tell him what you did to me today. Maybe I should do that when he returns.” She stepped inside the room and closed the door.

“Vivienne, I think this is the right time for you to leave this house if you have a heart. What do you want with my son? You are nothing but a hold digger, you bitch!” she snapped at her.

Vivienne was fed up for hearing that every time. Why would she be called a gold digger when she wasn’t even after his money?

How much does he has that she didn’t? Just because she didn’t have a company of her own didn’t mean she wasn’t rich.

In her account, what she has in there was more than what Sebastian has. He knew that, maybe that was why he wanted to ruin her life.

“We are tired of you, Vivienne. Just leave!” The woman shouted at her and slammed the door.

Vivienne was long tired of them too long ago. She was only tolerating their insults because she didn’t want the people to despise of her.

If she talk back to her mother in-law, people will tell her she doesn’t have home training and they wouldn’t regard her anymore.

But because she needed people’s respect as a celebrity, she wouldn’t talk back at the woman.

But weren’t they going too far? Threatening her with divorce just so she would do as they wanted?

Vivienne wiped her tears, she stood on her feet and went straight to the wardrobe. She pulled down one of the traveled bag on top of the wardrobe and pulled the doors apart.

“It’s time to leave this house.” She started bringing out her dresses, throwing them in the box just like that.

She was fed up, fed up with that house, fed up with everyone in it. How dare them treat her like a slave when she wasn’t one?

Vivienne made sure she didn’t leave a piece of fabric inside that wardrobe because she packed everything in her three sets of boxes.

She went inside the bathroom, washed her face thoroughly and came out then started taking the bags out one after the other.

“Where do you think you are going?” Her mother in-law who was sitting on the sofa asked her.

But Vivienne didn’t say a word to her. She went ahead to take all the boxes out of the mansion first then returned for the last one.

“I’m talking to you, you bitch!” she shouted at her. But still, Vivienne ignored her.

She went to the TV stand, picked up the large Wi-Fi sitting on the table and threw it inside her bag.

“That belongs to my son, you bitch!” Mother in-law was now on her feet.

Vivienne chuckled. “No, this doesn’t belongs to your stupid son. Ask him and he would tell you how this machine is being credited every time by me.”

“You dare speak to me that way? You aren’t leaving this house.” She picked up her phone from the sofa to call her son.

“Whoa!” Vivienne clapped her hands. “You wanted me to leave but now you don’t want me to leave again? You must be kidding,” she laughed shortly.

“Girls!” Mother in-law shouted and one of the maids ran out from the room. “Go outside and bring back those bags,” she ordered.

The lady bowed her head and wanted to go but Vivienne blocked her way.

“If you know what’s good for you, do not even think of laying your hands on those bags,” she warned her.

“And what are you going to do? It is Madam’s order and I’ll do it.” The lady said. She wanted to brush past Vivienne but Vivienne grabbed her hand and…

Pak!

She landed a slap on her face for disrespecting her.

“You think I am a fool because I decided to act respectfully to all of you? How dare you talk to me that way!” she slapped her on the other cheek again.

“One more slap from you, and you are going to regret it.” Mother in-law threatened. Vivienne smiled, she looked at the lady who was rubbing her face and slapped her again.

Luckily, it was the same lady that spoke rudely to her the other day. Vivienne combined the anger of that day and that moment for the lady.

“When your stupid son returns, tell him not to look for me.” That was her last statement to mother in-law before leaving the house.
