Chapter 15: Amusement Park

After Clara came back from work the next day, she was about to take off her clothes when someone suddenly rang her doorbell.

“Huh? Who could that be?” she muttered softly, wondering who could be looking for her at that hour and she quickly went to the door and opened it.

She saw Lara at the door with the twins at her sides. The cute little girls were wearing matching pink cartoon pajamas with teddy bears in their hands. Clara’s expression brightened instantly.

“Clara, can I please leave the twins with you for tonight? I’m on duty and the nanny I hired for them has an urgent situation at home,” Lara said to her with an anxious expression.

She was a nurse in the city’s hospital and as a single mother, it wasn’t an easy task for her to take care of the twins and also work at the same time.

Clara nodded her head rapidly with a smile and said, “Sure. Please come in.”

She loved the twins so much and anytime she saw their cute faces her heart would instantly melt.

The twins giggled and said cheerfully with their cute voices, “Thanks, Aunt Clara.”

They ambled inside her apartment and the one named Lea turned back and said to her sister Mia. “Let’s say goodbye to mama.”

And they clumsily ran back and kissed their mother on the cheeks.

Clara watched the twins ’interaction and found it cute, she laughed lightly and wished the twins were hers.

“Bye-bye, babies. Don’t make trouble for Auntie,” their mom said to them.

“Okay, mama, bye-bye,” Lea said. And both twins waved their mom goodbye.

Clara turned to them cheerfully. “Alright, babies. What would you like Auntie to cook for you?” She asked while holding their hands and leading them to the living room.

“We just ate pasta. Mama cooked for us,” Lea answered cheerfully and Mia nodded and said in her baby voice. “We want milk.” And this time it was Lea that nodded.

Clara laughed lightly seeing their behavior. It was like they have telepathy between them.

She went inside the kitchen and made two glasses of milk and after giving them, she switched on the TV and changed the channel to kids network which was hiring an animation program.

She then went inside the bedroom and took a bath before wearing her pajamas then went back to the living room to join the kids.

Mia was already dozing off but Lea was still looking intently at the television.

Clara noticed the two empty glasses placed neatly on the dining table and chuckled at how obedient the kids were. Some kids at their age would surely throw things around.

She sat in the middle of the couch with both girls on her sides and rested Mia’s head on her lap while stroking Lea’s head gently, their matching pink pajamas making them look like mother and daughters.

She laughed softly and imagined how perfect it would be if she were their mother.

Clara had never had this kind of idea before. But now, looking at the two cute little buns beside her she suddenly wanted to have her own family.

She spaced out and thought of his heavenly handsome looks and imagined how cute their babies would be and giggled absentmindedly. Then she shook her head quickly to dispel the thoughts.

A heavy sigh left Clara’s lips and her expression turned gloomy, wondering if she would ever get to see him again.

She took out her phone and entered her social media account. And while replying to Maya’s messages, a friend request suddenly popped up.

She opened it and saw Jack’s profile then remembered that she had once given him her social media information during one of their conversations.

She accepted his request and was about to log out when his message suddenly came in.

CEO Ning: [ Hey👋 ]

Clara: [ Hi, Jack. What’s up]

CEO Ning: [ Nothing much… How’re you doing?]

Clara: [ Great. You?]

CEO Ning: [ I’m good ]

They chatted more and he reminded her of their outing before they said goodnight.

She logged out and put her phone down then looked to her side and saw that Lea had also dozed off.

She smile and stroked the girls ’hair then switched off the TV.

She took the twins inside the bedroom and lay them on the bed before joining them and also fell asleep.

Three days Later

Lucy was skipping excitedly towards her Big brother’s condo with a small purple purse in her hand.

She was wearing a red tank top on a white box pleated skirt and purple high–heeled shoes.

She knew that her brother would be at home as it was the weekend.

She reached the door and rang the doorbell continuously before the door was automatically opened from the inside.

She skipped inside with a cheeky smile and called out while walking in the direction of her Big brother’s living room.

“Big bro, I missed you so much!” She said excitedly and ran to sit beside Carl on the couch then hugged him.

Carl smiled lightly and said, “How’s mum?”

Lucy pouted her lips and replied childishly while playing with her purse. “Mummy said she missed you… And you should visit the mansion soon.”

“I think she and father are trying to matchmake you with one of those spoiled heiresses again,” Lucy added in a gossipy manner.

Carl replied with an “Mm” and ruffled her hair with a light chuckle.

Lucy smoothened her hair carefully while smiling and grabbed his arm anxiously.

“Big bro, it’s been so long since I went out. Father locked me inside the mansion after the last time I attended brother’s pool party,” she said referring to Zach.

“Big bro, take me out… please please please.” she pulled at his arm with her tiny hands and added frantically while staring at him with puppy eyes.

Carl sighed helplessly and said, “Okay.”

Lucy was very delighted and she dragged him up and said excitedly, “Thanks, Big bro. You’re the best. Let’s go to a dessert shop, and I also want some ice cream and cupcakes and…” She listed a lot of things and Carl imagined the kind of hectic day he was going to have, looking at his energetic step-sister.
