Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 12: Embarrassing Memory
Chapter 12
Aria’s POV
“What is the matter with you!”
Elias, whose hand was in the air, holding a flower vase halted what he was trying to do.
They both turned to the door, their faces wrinkled, brows raised in confusion. I didn’t know they had resorted to harming each other with objects simply because of what Lana said to Elias.
“Why would you fight because of what Lana said?”
I slammed the door shut, walking towards them in rage.
“Can’t you guys see that she is only trying to cause misunderstanding between you guys? You love each other, do your things together, and respect each other. But now, just a little lie has poisoned your minds to fight with each other!”
I had lost it, and telling them a piece of my mind was the only thing to bring them back to their senses.
“What are you talking about, Aria?”
Rafe stood upright, adjusting his collar. Elias, on the other hand, dropped the vase in his hand on the spot he had picked it from. The way both of them were acting as if they didn’t know why I was fuming provoked me.
I heard the crashing of things from the room, and the evidence is everywhere. There were broken pieces of glass everywhere in the room, and some scratches on the wall. One would think they had shifted into their wolves to fight and leave that mess.
I wish I were in the room to see what their wolves looked like.
My eyes darted to the right side of the room, where the dressing table and mirror were placed. I didn’t look in that direction since I entered the room until then. As soon as my eyes met Kael, my jaw dropped in amazement.
So he had been inside that room when all that was happening? He could have stopped them but he didn’t. He sat on the stool, one leg lifted on the stool, his left elbow resting on the knee with the phone in his hand.
He was so engrossed in his phone and didnt care that his brothers were fighting. Jeez! I was so enraged that I wanted to fight Kael for allowing that to happen, but I couldn’t. To be honest, I was still scared of him at that moment because of his personality.
Kael did love me a lot, but there were things that I knew would upset him if I did.
“They have been fighting, Kael. Why didn’t you tell them to stop?”
I puckered, dragging my feet towards him.
“We werent fighting.”
Elias said after he received a deadly stare from Kael. If they weren’t fighting, were they practicing how to fight? Funny. I wasn’t a little pup then, I knew exactly what they were doing. Rafe even had a slight cut on his forehead and it was emitting fresh blood.
“Tell her the truth.”
Kael frowned.
“Okay, yes, we were fighting. But it wasnt because of Lana.”
I folded my arms, staring at them disapprovingly. Who were they kidding? Wasn’t it Lana who told Elias what Rafe was trying to do and he proceeded to go fight with Rafe just so Lana would get what she wanted?
“I mean. Why would we even fight because of Lana?”
They cracked up, sitting down on the sofa. Even Kael, whose attention was still on his phone, chuckled softly.
“Lana can never be the reason we fight, Aria. She isn’t fit enough to cause that.”
Thank goodness! I was so relieved when I heard that. But if it wasn’t because of Lana, then why?
“Elias and Rafe were only practicing the move they saw in a movie.”
What! Grown-ups practicing what toddlers would do? Gosh! What kind of leaders are they? I felt so embarrassed as if I was the one who was doing that.
“And you got yourself injured?”
I pointed at Rafe’s forehead.
“You are a Mafia lord, Rafe. You have all the skills to kick butts and break limbs.”
I sighed deeply, then turned to Elias to scold him.
“You could have practiced more safely. You injured him.”
Kael strolled towards me and placed his hand on my shoulder.
“That’s enough, Aria. Allow them to keep embarrassing themselves.”
Throughout that day, i couldnt stop feeling so ashamed of myself. That was the most embarrassing memory I have ever forgotten in my life. I made a fool out of myself, scolding them for fighting because Lana didn’t know they didn’t even remember anything about her.
Well, it was such a relief that elias didnt brought up the topic about Lana to Rafe. Lana was so shocked and annoyed when she found out Elias and Rafe weren’t fighting because of her.
She made a fuss at the dining table during dinner that day and got into a fight with all the brothers except Kael who didn’t say a word to her.
“Stop acting like a baby.”
I scoffed at her, and she fumed at me.
“You cannot tell me what to do, idiot!”
She sprang up and stormed away knowing well that Kael would cause her to repeat what she called me. And if she made the mistake of saying that, we all knew what would happen next.
Poor Jace. I was sure nothing would stop Rafe from torturing him. If only there were a way I could step in and apologize to Rafe, I would have done that, but I was scared of the consequences that would bring.
“Are you sad that our mate would be…”
“Stop calling him that!”
I cut Liza off.
“He isn’t our mate and he is not fit to be.”
“But he is. We still feel connected to him. And whenever he holds your hand, the feelings are mutual.”
“Are you kidding me?”
I shunned her away and concentrated on the game I was playing in my phone. Truth be told, I still had feelings for Jace, but I wasn’t ready to give him a second chance yet. He might use that to take over my position. What could be worse than losing the only thing that gives me power over everything?
So, i wasnt ready to give in to him yet. I must make sure to know the kind of person he was first. If he were selfish, self-centered, and greedy, nothing would make me look into his path. I would ban him from stepping inside my pack, and he and Lana can go ahead with their love since they would be a perfect match for each other.
“My lady?”
Alice, my personal assistant, bowed her head slightly. She looked so excited that morning and it made me wonder why. She had been a vibrant girl I know, but it was different that morning.
“Any good news?”
She bobbed her head, grinning from ear to ear.
“My mum was discharged from the hospital yesterday after spending half of the year there.”
Whooa! That was six months she was talking about. What kind of sickness did she suffer from that had her admitted for that long?
“She suffered from cancer.”
Eish! That hit me like a stone. A cancer survivor? Wow! I didn’t know one could survive from that illness because back at the Silverclaw pack, a lot of people who suffered from it were exiled to the forest by Alpha Gregory so they wouldn’t contaminate the rest.
That dude was crazy. He could have just sought help from the bloodmoon pack to cure them. At that moment, an idea crept into my head. If I could create an organization targeting those suffering from cancer, it would be recognized globally and all the packs that didn’t have a cure for it yet would welcome the idea.
“You were tortured, used, and humiliated in that pack. I can’t believe you want to help them.”
Liza scoffed.
“I have a heart, Liza, and I am not like them. This is a life-saving opportunity for them. If I could bring this idea to life, I wouldn’t be the only one to be happy about it. All the people from the other packs would love it.”
“Stop wasting your time. That jerk of a leader they have in the Silverclaw pack won’t even give you a listening ear. He prefers watching his pack members die from one sickness to another. You can attest to that.”
That wouldnt be a problem. Gregory cannot stop me from doing what i wated to do. If he didt accpet my offer, then we would do it the other way. I must help those suffering from that sickness no matter what happens.
“That’s great, Alice. Congratulations.”
She was a strong girl per se. If it were another person whose parent was that sick, they wouldn’t even smile for months or years depending on how fast the treatment was.
When I returned home in the evening, I decided to ask them the question that had been running in my head for a few days.
“Can you guys tell me what mum was like?”
