Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 11: Lana’s Betrayal
Chapter 11
Lana’s POV
Snatching the guy I love wasn’t enough for Aria, now she was teaming up with her brothers to get rid of him.
But not on my watch. I wouldn’t allow them to carry out that animal act.
Taking away my position and allocating it to Aria was enough to show how much they hated me. I worked my ass off for that position.
I was in the training ground every morning until dawn. I followed Kael to business conferences, pack meetings, supervision, and got to know how to rule the company when I became the Alpha leader.
I went with Rafe to his company too, he took me to his mafia lord’s gatherings and so many places matching his career.
But all I got was a backstab. They should have informed me from the outset that I wasn’t their real sister and was not suitable for the position.
I wouldn’t have wasted my time training hard and trying to please them. I would have done all that for myself, grown more powerful in a way that giving me the position of an Alpha leader would be the only thing to save them.
Nevertheless, it wasn’t too late. Even if I had to rebel against them, I was ready to do that to get all I wanted.
Aria who used to be my servant in the Silverclaw pack must never be my leader. The position suitable for her is the position of a servant.
“Does it still hurt?”
Lilly groaned within me.
“It hurt a lot, Lilly,”
I pressed the ice bag harder on my face in rage.
They didn’t even care to send help my way. They were all over Aria who didn’t even sustain any injury. They even called Elias to come home urgently to treat Aria. But left me out even though I sustained a bruise from Rafe’s slap.
“We cannot allow them go free especially Aria,”
She hissed,
Of course yes. The game had just begun because they must all taste what it is to maltreat me.
“Lana?”
My brows furrowed into a frown when Elias called my name from the door. What in the world did he want with me?
“Go away, I want my privacy!”
Elias didn’t leave, he turned the door handle and walked in carrying a first aid box.
“I said you should leave!”
I threw the ice bag at him but fortunately, he dodged it.
“What is wrong with you!”
He snapped angrily.
“If you came here to finish what your brothers started, kindly leave as I am so occupied with my thoughts.”
He sighed deeply, lowered himself, and picked up the ice bag then walked towards the bed. He placed the first aid box on the bed and sat down on a stool.
“Lana?”
He took my hand in his left and placed his right hand on it.
“Why did you suddenly change into this kind of person? You were a sweet and innocent girl.”
What nonsense. I knew he was pretending because no one in their right mind who lived in the mansion won’t know why I was acting that way.
“You guys betrayed me.”
I faked crying, lowering my head.
“I was promised to be the Alpha leader when Kael stepped down, but that was all lies. I had my expectations high up thinking everything would continue going the way it had always been.”
“We didn’t know we had a real sister until that call from the hospital and the DNA test.”
“That DNA test isn’t real. Aria used to be a servant in the Silverclaw pack, she is a nobody, Elias. She was my servant anytime I went there to visit. And I am sure she faked that result so that she could come here to make my life a living hell.”
“That isn’t possible.”
I knew he wouldn’t believe me. What a waste of time.
“Nobody can try that stupidity with us, Lana, you know that.”
He tried placing the ice bag on my face, but I shoved his hand away.
“Leave me alone!”
I got up from the bed and walked away.
“Are you now showing care after you guys have shown me some of the worst? First, the position was taken away, and now, Aria is trying to snatch the man I love.”
“Jace?”
He scoffed.
“Yes, Jace. I love him a lot, but now, Aria is trying to come between us. Can you tell her to stop ruining my life? She can keep the position and leave Jace alone!”
Elias shook his head and came to where I was standing.
“Lana dear,”
He held my hand.
“We all love you, but…”
“You guys never loved me! I have always been the adoptive sister to you all.”
He lowered his head, exhaling.
“The Alpha position belonged to Kael and only he had the power to hand it over to anyone he liked. Handing over the Alpha leader to Aria isn’t a big deal. She is destined to be one as the heiress. But you… You were only adopted, we don’t even share blood ties.”
What absurdity! He could have just told me he was there to roast me.
“You have overstayed your welcome,”
I pointed at the door, sniffling.
“And I think it is time I leave since you guys don’t want me here. Possibly, Rafe would leave Jace alone if I leave.”
“What is Rafe trying to do?”
“Slay Jace.”
Elias gasped shockingly.
“Why?”
“Because he is in love with me.”
“But that isn’t right. I will talk to Rafe.”
As soon as he was out of the room, I burst into laughter.
“That was lit!”
Lilly laughed.
Of course it was. As long as I live in the mansion, I must make sure all the brothers turn against each other, and I must do anything to make them hate Aria. They had crossed the wrong person’s line and they would regret it.
After applying a heavy makeup to conceal the bruise on my face, I slid into a short black gown with silver organza ruffles at the edges, put my legs on silver high heels, picked out a designer silver pouch, grabbed my phone, and left the room.
Whatever would transpire between Elias and Rafe would be behind me. I knew they wouldn’t end well. And before fingers start pointing at me, it was better I leave.
As I was walking down the stairs, I overheard Elias and Rafe’s voices. They seemed to be arguing, not their usual type of brother’s argument, but that of Elias taking my side.
I halted on the stairs, listening to their argument. When I heard the sound of a crash from the room they were arguing in, laughter erupted from my mouth.
“This is your doing, right?”
An electric shock traveled from my head down to my leg. I was so startled that my heart didn’t stop palpitating for a few seconds.
“What is wrong with you!”
I snapped at Aria who was standing behind me, my hand planted on my chest to suppress my heartbeat.
“You got them into a fight, Lana?”
She repeated, stepping down until she was standing just a stair away from me.
“Yes,”
I closed the step between us.
“I did that and I will continue doing it until this house is turned upside down. They think they can break my heart and go free? No, baby girl. And when I am done with you all, they will regret bringing you into this family.”
“And as long as I am here, none of that will happen. Stay away from us, Lana, go find your parents!”
What!
As she turned her back on me, I wanted to grab her by her hair and yank her off the stairs, but I hesitated.
Kael was around. He wouldn’t slap me as Rafe did earlier on, he would do worse than that if I dared to injure their sister.
So, I allowed her to go.
The moment I stepped out of the living room, my jaw dropped seeing Jace on the porch. Wasn’t he in Rafe’s custody? I thought by then he would be dead already.
“Jace!”
I ran towards him and threw myself at him.
“You are safe!”
He pulled me away, lifting a brow in confusion.
“Stop doing this, Lana.”
“What do you mean?”
“Aria wouldn’t like it if she saw us that way.”
“Why do you care about Aria when we are in love?”
“Because I love her. How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t love you? You have been throwing yourself at me for years. Don’t you have a little bit of pride?”
He scoffed at me and brushed past me.
What he said made my heart sink. I knew Jace didn’t open his mouth to tell me he loved me, but his action showed it.
He was all over me at the Silverclaw pack, he took me shopping, on dates, hosted me in his house, and one time when he got drunk, we had sex. That was the day I fell in love with him.
“If you are thinking about love because of that one mistake, then you are wrong.”
Oh, really?
“That wasn’t a mistake, Jace. You and I both enjoyed the moment. And if you dare see Aria today, she is in trouble.”
