Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 20: Mysterious Encounter
Chapter 20
Aria’s POV
“Thank goodness!”
Nina held my hand as I stared at her in confusion. My eyes darted around and instead of being in my room or the hospital, I was in the office.
What was I doing in the office?
“Are you alright?”
She held out a cup containing tea to me,
“What am I doing here?”
Nina’s brows lifted in curiosity.
“What do you mean? You dozed off in the middle of a conversation.”
Conversation? What conversation?
Seeing the confused look on my face, she put down her phone and folded her arms.
“Earlier on, I was gisting you about the client I had, then you mysteriously shut your eyes. At first, I thought you’d fainted, but then, you answered me when I called your name.”
Weird.
Earlier on, I knew I was back at home exchanging words with Lana, suddenly, something started twirling within me then I passed out.
Why was I back in the office?
It wouldn’t be a dream, that didn’t seem like a dream.
Something must have gone wrong somewhere. Either it was a dream, or someone was playing tricks on me.
Wait a second, the document!
There wasn’t any document on the desk, and nothing was inside the shelf.
“Are you sure you are okay?”
Nina was growing so worried and if I kept acting that way, she would get a bad feeling.
“Nothing,”
I forced a smile, sat back on the seat and picked up my phone.
And even though I tried to stay focus to listen to what she was telling me, I couldn’t resist the urge to go home.
Before I passed out completely, I heard someone said I was dead and the room should be searched.
They must be after the document.
“Where are you going?”
Nina caught up with me outside the office.
“Home. there’s something I must check at home. Do you mind not following me?”
Nina must have felt so bad hearing that from me because she didn’t follow me to the parking lot.
But before I could enter the car, Alice caught up with me, panting.
“Alpha Aria, you forgot this. Your brother sent this earlier, I forgot to give it to you.”
Seeing the file in her hand, excitement flashed through my eyes. I grabbed the file from her hand thinking it was the same document, but unfortunately, it wasn’t.
It was the document Damien said he would send to me, the one containing an organization’s information.
“Take it back to my office, I will go through it tomorrow.”
What was ahead of me was more important than that. When I returned home, Lana was in the living room.
She was in the same position I met her before, and surprisingly, she didn’t say a word to me nor did she stop me.
Her attention was deep in the program she was watching that she didn’t care to look at me when I made a sound.
That was so scary, and it made me questioned my sanity.
“Did I come home earlier?”
I stopped the servant who was coming down the stairs, and instead of acting like Nina did, she nodded her head in affirmation.
“Yes, but you left in a hurry.”
I knew it!
But I left? Why did I left?
I wanted to ask her more questions, but we were interrupted by Lana who had smiles plastered on her face.
“What is wrong, Aria? You look like you saw something dangerous.”
After waving the servant off, I went to my room, ignoring Lana.
By the way, she wasn’t going to help my situation.
‘What’s that?’
My eyes darted to the direction Liza was staring at, and the moment my eyes fell on it, something snapped in my head.
The memories of my earliest encounter flooded my head. I knew I wasn’t dreaming, I knew it was real.
The carpet I had fallen on early had my blood stained on it, and my ring which had fallen off my finger was lying there.
I’ve always worn that ring and had never taken it off before and there it was, on the carpet. I felt it when it fell off my finger earlier.
“I knew it!”
‘I can’t remember anything, Aria. I only know that we saw a document we weren’t supposed to see, but after that, everything went blank.’
That was surprising, and shocking.
Even my room looked like it was searched, and my handbag was on the bed.
How then did I returned to the office?
Could it be that someone had used dark magic on me?
How was that even possible?
Who could it be?
It must be someone who knew me in and out, someone who knew I hadn’t let out my wolf yet.
As a werewolf born of an Alpha blood, no dark magic on the surface of the earth could work on me, so I heard, but it did.
Lana!
It must be her.
But the voice that said they should search my room didn’t belong to her, it was that of a man.
Damien did sent the document. Maybe he found out he sent the wrong document and took it back.
‘Why don’t you go check his room? But becareful.’
Liza whispered nervously.
I didn’t waste any more time before hurrying out of the room.
Damien wasn’t home, so was my other brothers. And one thing I liked about them was the fact that they never lock their rooms.
I headed towards his room however, I was met with a devastating shock. Damien had locked his room, something he had never done before.
That action piqued my curiosity, and it gave me one hundred assurance that Damien was behind it.
He is a lawyer in public, but behind closed doors, he practice dark magic?
According to the Bloodmoon’s rule, no wolf is allowed to practice such. What would Damien do it? And why on me?
“What are you doing here?”
A deep, masculine voice jolted me out of my reverie.
I turned around slowly, controlling the hormones rushing inside me.
Damien’s dark eyes were fixed on me, and instead of the handsome smiley face I always see, another expression which I had never seen before greeted me.
My eyes traced his hand, and he was holding a familiar document…
Lana’s secret!
