Chapter 74: The Feeling of Desperation

Aria’s POV

“And what if I don’t?”

She hissed, turning her face away from me. But I tightened my fingers around her chin, then turned her aggressively to look at me.

“Speak!”

I thundered, my eyeballs turning red. Nina must say whatever she said she knew if not, I wasn’t going to let her be, I would torture her until she spit it out.

“Your siblings.”

She compressed her lips, staring into my eyes in terror. She knew what I meant, and she knew I must do it if I mentioned it.

“Don’t you dare lay a finger on them!”

“Is that a threat? Are you perhaps threatening me not to touch them?”

She didn’t utter a word.

“Speak whatever it is you know right now or have your sister and brother locked in jail for the rest of their lives.”

“The Supreme Alpha’s brother was the one who ordered us to torture Alissa.”

Aha! So that was what Alissa wanted to say? The Supreme Alpha’s brother. But which of the Supreme Alpha’s? Jace’s father, uncle, or Jace himself? Did Jace have a brother? Or was she talking about Alex?

No. Jace took the throne after Alissa passed away. He wasn’t the Supreme Alpha then, he only became one after the incident.

“Who?”

“Your mate is behind it!”

“Liar!”

My fingers gripped her chin so hard that the skin around that area turned red.

“Jace will never do that!”

My heart was pounding in its cage, and my limbs had started trembling. Jace would never do that. I knew him, he would never do anything that would hurt me, not even to the people close to me.

“Wait a second.”

I released her chin, grinning in mischief.

“You made mention of the Supreme Alpha’s brother, then how is Jace a brother?”

“Because that was a lie, Aria. Jace was the one who said I should never mention his name. Didn’t Alissa make mention of the Supreme Alpha’s brother? That was what we said in front of her. Say whatever you want to say or do, Jace was behind it and nothing can change that.”

“It seems like you aren’t ready to spit the truth.”

Because there was no way Jace would be the mastermind behind Alissa’s kidnapping.

“Who is out there?”

One of the armies came in, armed with a gun.

“Nina’s brother and sister go to the academy and they will be in school right now. Go there and arrest them. Their names are Maya and Hartin.”

“Don’t you dare!”

“Watch me, Nina. By the time I am done torturing them, you will tell the truth.”

“They know nothing!”

She shouted as I left the torture room.

“Aria?”

Her words fell on my back as I shut the door aggressively.

“I sentence them to life in prison with no one allowed to see them. If any delegate comes from any pack to bail out their pack members who are here, tell them to come meet me.”

I said to the general and left the headquarters with my mind so heavy from what had just hit me.

No matter the torture Nina would go through, there was no way that idiot would spit out the truth. So instead of wasting time on her when I had other things to sort out, the sentence was the right thing to do.

Who knows, she might change her mind and say the truth and seek audience with me when she finally comes back to her senses.

“You have a message, Alpha Aria.”

One of the servants came up to me as soon as I arrived home. She passed me a parcel, a small and round box. When I opened it, I saw a diamond ring in it, the type that I had always imagined in the silverclaw pack that my mate would give to me whenever I finally found one.

“From who?”

She lowered her head and as my eyes fell on her hands, her fingers were clutched to each other, shaking.

Her action clearly showed that the ring had come from the one person who didn’t want to just give up on me even when I was avoiding contact with him.

“He said you should please allow him to see you there is something important you need to know.”

Jace had lost contact with me because I blocked him everywhere that would give him the opportunity to see me.

I knew seeing him face to face was going to be so hard because I would probably lose my mind and insult him. I didn’t want that to happen, I wanted to at least investigate what my brothers said first, to find out if it was true that the Supreme Alpha’s family was behind our parents’ deaths.

Nevertheless, I sent her off and went to my room, the box clutched in my palm.

‘Aria?’

Liza finally spoke, her voice so frail.

‘We must talk to Jace about this…no, we have to see him. Only he would know the truth about this. Ignoring him this way isn’t the way forward. Jace is in pain and so are we. If we keep on avoiding him this much, it would affect us negatively. The mate bond isn’t a joke, Aria.’

When Liza reminded me of that, tears fell freely on my cheeks. She was right. Involving the suspect would help us tackle that issue quickly. But avoiding him would only make things worse.

‘Call him.’

She urged, transferring the feeling of desperation into my mind. I couldn’t resist her temptation, so I picked up my phone, unblocked his contact, and called.

At just one ring, Jace answered the call like he was waiting for it.

“Thank goodness!”

He exclaimed, sighing in relief.

“Are you alright, honey? Do you need help? Did someone hurt you this time? Who is it? Tell me and if needed, I will shut down that pack.”

See? A man who was willing to turn the whole kingdom upside down for me and the family fuge is trying to separate me from him.

“Jace? Can we talk right now? It is so important.”

“Of course. Where are you? I will come over there right now.”

Was he going to appear in my pack?

“Can you come to the Bloodmoon pack tomorrow?”

“I have been in the pack since yesterday. Are you at home or the company?”

“I’ll send you an address for us to meet in a few minutes.”

Telling him to go to the mansion to meet me was not a good idea so after sending him the address, I got dressed in a simple gown and left the room.

While going down the stairs quietly so that none of my brothers would know I was out of the house, I heard footsteps behind me, then they stopped.

“You are going to see him…”
