Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 9: A Loser
Chapter 9
Aria’s POV
Snap!
I nearly burst into heart-cooling laughter when Kael dropped that bomb on Lana. But there was no way I could do that without getting my share from him.
“Is this what you guys have resorted to doing?”
She flared up, tears gathering in her eyes.
“I used to be the favorite one here, but everything changed because of this bitch!”
Kael slammed his hands on the desk in rage.
“I dare you to repeat that!”
“I hate you!”
She cried out, running towards the stairs.
Lana’s voice echoed as she ran up the stairs, crying bitterly. The sound of her door being slammed shut reverberated.
“Wonderful!”
Liza chuckled, rejoicing to see Lana that way.
When I spun, my eyes met with Kael’s and I hurriedly lowered my head, controlling myself from laughing.
“I am so sorry, Kael,”
My voice cracked,
“I didn’t mean to upset any of you. I…I.”
Tears flowed down my face,
“Stop crying, Aria.”
Kael sighed, wiping off the tears on my face.
“You know we love you, right? And we care for you?”
Absolutely yes. I’d only been there for a few weeks and the tremendous love I had received from them was satisfactory.
“Yes,”
I bobbed my head, sniffling.
“Stay away from Jace for peace. If Lana is interested in him, let her have him. After all, he is a loser just like her. And who knows? He must be here for you because you are a leader now.”
That was literally the truth. There was no way Jace would come out of the blue saying he wanted me back without needing anything from me.
Even though I wasn’t going to do as Kael said because of my goal, I knew I had to be careful with Jace. I wouldn’t let him get too attached to me as that was already a dangerous thing because of the feelings I always felt whenever he was close.
“See you later.”
He pecked my cheek and left too.
I sat down on the chair, wondering why Kael wanted me to leave Jace with Lana. Did they hate her that much? Perhaps they knew she was only sticking to them because she was after the position that belonged to me.
“How about you do something that will make your brothers, especially Rafe, not be mad at you again?”
Liza was right. I needed to make it up to them so they wouldn’t keep being upset with me over Jace’s issue.
I wiped off the tears I had forced out to obtain a pity from Kael, got up, and left the mansion.
On the way to Rafe’s office, I had the driver stop at a gift shop to get something for him. And since I wasn’t sure of what Rafe preferred, I decided to give Kael a call to ask him.
Coincidentally, as I was walking out of the gift shop, my eyes fixed on my phone, I bumped into something as soft as a tissue.
My phone slipped off my hand, shattering into pieces just as the second Kael answered the call.
“Watch where you are going, lady!”
The lady, who had fallen to the floor, yelled upsettingly.
I should have been the one to yell at her for making me lose my phone, but I didn’t.
“You hurt my butt!”
“Really?”
I gasped, staring at her in bewilderment.
She got up from the floor, frowning at me. My eyes drifted down to her chest, making my eyes widen in amazement.
The soft thing like a tissue was her boobs. They were so huge like a balloon, and a part of it was exposed. She was a pretty lady as well, but with an arrogant personality. Didn’t she know who I was? Possibly, she wasn’t around during the Alpha ascension ceremony.
“Omg!”
She exclaimed in shock, covering her mouth. When I followed the direction of her gaze, she was staring at my broken phone.
“I broke your phone!”
She cried out, going down on her knees. She gathered the broken pieces in her trembling hands and looked at me in worry.
Funny how one’s personality would change in a second.
“I am so sorry, lady. I didn’t know I broke your phone.”
She got on my nerves when she was rude to me and I was already planning the perfect punishment for her. But she softened my heart by acknowledging her mistake and apologizing.
“I will get you a new phone, Alpha Aria.”
Oh, she even knew who I was.
“No need.”
I sighed, staring at the broken pieces in her hand. That was my first gift from Kael, an expensive latest edition product.
I hoped Kael wouldn’t be upset when he found out the phone was misplaced.
“What is your name?”
It was better to know the name of the person who destroyed an important thing. Who knows? She might be helpful one day.
“The name is Nina,”
She bowed slightly, still looking so worried.
“Ma’am Aria? Is everything alright?”
One of the bodyguards who came with me asked. I left them outside and went inside the shop alone so I wouldn’t scare the people shopping in there. But since I was taking a long time inside, he decided to check up.
“Isn’t that your phone? Did she destroy it?”
He turned to Nina, giving her a terrifying stare. Nina stepped behind me for safety and held my hand.
“Please save me, Alpha Aria. Tell him I will compensate you.”
“She is my friend.”
I frowned at him,
“But she is a commoner, you can’t be friends with her. We should leave now, Alpha Aria. Your brothers won’t be happy if…”
“Who is the boss here?”
“You are, my lady.”
“So why are you giving me orders?”
“I am so sorry,”
He apologized, bowing his head.
“You can leave.”
Before he could leave the gift shop, he took a frightening glance at Nina and left.
“Thank goodness!”
Nina’s sigh dropped on my back.
“Thank you for saving me, my lady. What can I do to repay you? Name it and I will do it.”
Well, she could help me pick out a gift for Rafe and the others. After all, she had been in the pack longer than I and would know the things they needed.
And I was correct. Nina did pick out all the things that were their favorites. She knew them so well as if she were living with them.
“I have a secret, my lady, that I want to tell you.”
That was so fast. We hadn’t even spent an hour together and she was already telling me her secrets.
“For more than four years now, I’ve had a crush on your brother,”
“Which of them? I have four brothers.”
She looked around, then lowered her head like someone about to gossip about another person.
“Alpha Kael.”
Whoa!
Kael is so nice, but she didn’t even think of another person besides him? Kael won’t even look her way.
“Do you want me to put in a word for you?”
“Hell no!”
She patted her chest, exhaling.
“He would slay me.”
That was so funny. Was he that scary to them?
At Rafe’s company, Nina strolled behind me carrying my bag. She insisted she wanted to go with me so I would know she was deeply sorry for what she did.
“My lady?”
The secretary, a young she-wolf with curly red hair, greeted.
“Mr. Rafe isn’t in his office. He is in a meeting.”
That was great.
“Then I will go to the meeting hall.”
As we approached the meeting hall, Rafe’s voice was audible.
“I want you to gather a team and lead them to the Silverclaw pack,”
I halted as the word struck me.
The Silverclaw pack? What was Rafe up to?
“Find Jace and get rid of him.”
