Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 10: Lana’s Foul Mouth
Chapter 10
Aria’s POV
“Who is Jace?”
Nina asked as soon as we stepped out of the car at the mansion.
“He seemed to have gotten on Rafe’s bad side.”
She clicked her tongue on her palate, shaking her head.
What a pity that Jace wouldn’t be the one to help me with the revenge on Lana.
I sighed deeply, heading towards the building.
Even if I wanted to talk to Rafe about leaving Jace alone, there was no way he would listen to me. I would only provoke him the most.
“Take the bags to my room.”
I ordered one of the servants, sitting down on the sofa. Nina sat on the sofa opposite me after handing over the shopping bags to the servant.
“Do not tell me you are going to turn a blind eye to this, Aria.”
Liza said.
“You and I know that Jace is our fated mate. If anything happens to him, we are doomed.”
How doomed could we be when he hasn’t even accepted me as his mate? He hasn’t even marked me yet.
“The jerk rejected me.”
“I know, but that doesn’t mean we won’t feel the pain. What if we don’t find another mate again after he dies?”
Rafe isn’t a monster. I was sure he wouldn’t kill Jace. Perhaps, he would only warn him to stay away from me. Jace isn’t a nobody, he owns the largest conglomerate in the Silverclaw pack and also has connection with the mafia.
“Jace Hogan came from the family of Mafias,”
Nina interrupted, her eyes fixed on her phone.
“For years, he has been feared in the silverclaw pack as a ruthless guy. Whoever crosses his path in that pack or the other packs always ends up in turmoil.”
She paused and gave me the look a teacher gives their student to be sure they were getting what they were explaining.
“I don’t think your brother would be able to apprehend Jace without first getting to his entourage. They have been tagged as the strongest, quickest…”
“Enough!”
Jace’s biography wasn’t any concern of mine. I wasn’t interested in it.
“Sorry, I thought you…”
She sighed, putting her phone back in her bag.
It was so surprising that Nina knew a lot of things about the elite in the kingdom.
“What did you study in school?”
“Mass communication.”
Aha! No wonder.
“I am a journalist.”
That was good. After all, her education paid off. Keeping Nina as an acquaintance would be so great as I would always have someone who would feed me on any information I need.
“We can be great buddies.”
I got up from the sofa. She also got up, beaming in delight.
“Really? Isn’t that position too big for me? I can be your assistant instead.”
“I already have an assistant.”
“Then I will be your friend. Thank you so much, Alpha Aria.”
“Call me Aria, we are now friends.”
Nina chuckled softly and lowered her head as if that name would be so hard for her to say. But it didn’t because she called me by my name instantly.
“Are you for real?”
Lana scoffed, stepping down the stairs. Her mean eyes were fixed on Nina who was still sitting on the sofa, her legs crossed.
“When did you start bringing in nobodies into the mansion?”
She smirked, then her expression turned into mischief.
“Oh, I forgot you were a nobody before you were found and brought home.”
“Whoa!”
Nina exclaimed, but she hurriedly covered her mouth. However, that didn’t stop Lana from veering towards her and cussing her.
“When I talk, I hate to be interrupted by nobodies like you. Now get up!”
Her thunderous tone got into Nina’s head and her hands started trembling in fear. Because the person she was trying to provoke was me, Lana turned to me.
“This should be the first and the last time you bring commoners into this mansion.”
It seemed Lana had forgotten my position in that family.
“And who do you think you are to give me orders, Lana? Do not forget I own this place and have the right to decide who comes and who leaves.”
She bit her lower lip angrily,
“Position stealer!”
She cussed.
“I swear, I will do whatever it takes to get that position back. Not only that, but I must make sure Jace never gets to see you again.”
Mentioning Jace’s name gave me an idea. If I inform her of what Rafe wanted to do to Jace, Lana will confront Rafe about it. And even if a fight breaks out between them, I wouldn’t be involved because I won’t say a dime to him about Jace.
If she succeeds in making Rafe leave Jace alone, then we can continue dragging him.
“Stop wasting your time, Lana. I don’t even know why you are still living in this house and troubling yourself over the position you would never get. And oh, Jace is currently in a deep pit of trouble as Rafe had ordered to get him killed.”
“What!”
She exclaimed, her eyes widening in shock.
“Wouldn’t it even be better if Jace died? Then you wouldn’t feel betrayed that he dumped you for me.”
Tears gathered in her eyes and the next second, her lips started twitching. With quivering hands, she pulled out her phone from her pocket and dialed a number.
“What do you think you are trying to do, Rafe?”
My lips puckered into a mischievous grin and I folded my arms, watching the interesting drama that had unfolded in front of me. When she pulled the phone away from her ear, I knew Rafe had disconnected the call.
Lana returned the phone, wiped the tears on her face, and sniffled.
“I won’t take this anymore,”
She cried out, cleaning her face. The entrance door opened and Rafe walked in. His face was painted in flame, and each step he took towards us made my heart palpitate. I was scared to the bones like he was going to lift me off my feet and throw me out of the mansion.
I thought Lana would run away, but she stood rooted in a spot, staring at him arrogantly.
“Why are you guys desperate to deprive me of happiness? I get it that none of you like me because your sister is back! But can’t you just leave me alone already? Why do you want Jace dead?”
The moment he said that, Rafe turned towards me as if he knew I was the one who told her. How would he even know when I didn’t go inside the meeting hall to see him? Perhaps the secretary told him.
“Get your head straight, Lana. Jace is an enemy of this pack and you know how much I detest our enemies coming here.”
“How is he an enemy of this pack? You guys only had a misunderstanding because he refused to accept the terrible decision you made.”
Jeez! Lana was provoking Rafe. He looked like he was going to pull out a gun to shatter her head.
“Get out of my way!”
Nina who was still sitting on the sofa leapt to her feet following Rafe’s commanding tone that echoed in the walls.
“No, I won’t. Tell me what you have done to Rafe first!”
Gosh! Things were getting out of hand as Lana was exchanging words with someone who could pounce on her.
I felt so scared for her that I had to step in between them.
“Rafe? Please sorry about this, it is just…”
The next thing I heard was a thud that came from me. My only offense was trying to plead with Rafe to forgive her, but Lana deemed it fit to throw me out of the way. Luckily, I didn’t hit my head on the stairs or anything hard.
“Are you hurt?”
Rafe lowered himself, helping me get up from the floor. His face turned dark and before I could know it, Lana was on the floor, her hand on her face.
“You slapped me?”
She whispered, holding her cheek.
“The next time you try any shit with my sister, you are done for!”
“Come here, Aria,”
He crossed his arms over my shoulder.
“I will call Elias to come check you up.”
I wasn’t even hurt.
“And you,”
He pointed a finger at Lana who was still in a state of shock.
“I want you out of this house because you don’t belong here!”
“I ain’t leaving this house!”
She found her voice and got up on her feet.
“I belong to this house and none of you has the right to send me away until I decide to leave by myself!”
She could have just kept quiet.
“Lana?”
I whispered, trying to signal to her to just leave that place. But she glared at me and continued bashing Rafe.
“You guys should continue fooling yourself and drooling over that stray cat! One day you will wake up and won’t see her again!”
Omg! Was she going to get rid of me?
“Try that and you will see what I will do to you. It seems you have forgotten who you are dealing with, Lana. This is Rafe you are talking to.”
“Who is a stray cat? And who is going to disappear?”
Kael fumed, slamming the door shut.
