The Billionaire’s Surrogate
Chapter 61 (HER ONLY FEAR)
Chapter 61
Evelyn lay on the bed grabbing the bedsheet with one hand, her other hand was on her tummy. She turned on the bed, groaning in pain. Her friend Joey stared at her worriedly. One time, she sat on the bed and the other time, she stood in front of the drip stand. But now, she was looking at Evelyn as she groaned in pain.
“Evelyn I’m begging you for God’s sake. Call your Mum and inform her what’s going on with you. What if… what if something happens to you now, you know I don’t know what to do,” Joey sighed frustratingly.
“Can you just stop talking about that, Joey? I already told you I can’t call Mum. I lied to her that I was going for a wedding. I can’t call her know and tell her I came to your place for this.” She pointed to her tummy.
“And besides, my Mum already doesn’t like you.” Evelyn closed her eyes tightly and grabbed the bed sheet again. “Can’t you just do something about this? I’m in severe pain,” Evelyn cried out.
“I gave you two Choices. Either we go to the hospital or you call your Mum but you’ve refused to pick one. Evelyn, I’m afraid there’s nothing else I can do. I explained to you the Effect this would cause but you failed to listen to me.”
“The scan showed you had a Placenta previa, I explained to you and the danger it would cause but you didn’t listen to me. You forced me to do it but I declined. You went ahead to take a pill for it and look at what you’ve caused for yourself.”
“My only fear now is I don’t know what to do if you gave up the ghost here,” Joey sighed. “Are you praying for me to die? I won’t die now. I have kids, I have Harry to take care of,” Evelyn cried out.
“You are still talking about that Harry?” Joey scoffed. “That reminds me, what about your twins? Are they with you now or you still don’t want to bring them back to the country.”
“They are long dead,” she frowned her face. “What!” Joey exclaimed. “But you didn’t tell me, I’m so sorry about that.”
“What are you sorry about? I’m not in any pain over their lose. Joey, please stop talking and hep me,” she pleaded. “I can’t do anything again, I’ve tried my best. You know what, let’s just go to the hospital.”
Joey stood up from the bed, she left the room to go prepare. Even when Evelyn called on her to come help her she didn’t listen to her.
Few minutes later, Joey returned back to the room. But the scene she met shocked her to the marrow. Evelyn was on the floor fighting with her breath. She was groaning in pain and when she looked down, she was bleeding profusely.
“Oh no!” Joey ran to her, she removed her white t-shirt and threw her bag on the bed.
“Eve, can you hear me?” she tapped her on the cheek but got no response. Evelyn couldn’t say anything. She felt as if her life was coming to an end that moment.
“Oh my God! Eve please come back to your senses.” She released Evelyn on the floor and hurried out of the room to go get help. She returned back with the security man and he helped carried Evelyn to the car.
“Eve, please hang in there.” Joey looked at the back of the car where Evelyn was lying. She turned on the engine and drove out of the house in speed.
It was already night and the Rain has just stopped falling. The road was so slippery that Joey had to reduced the speed of the car. Each time, she would turn and see Evelyn still groaning in pain.
She became so scared on what she was going to do if something happened to Evelyn. They finally arrived at the hospital. She drive straight to the emergency unit and ran out of the car to get the nurses.
Joey returned with two nurses and a stroller bed, they helped lay Evelyn on the bed and wheeled her inside the unit.
“Ma’am, I’m sorry but your sister has to undergo a surgery.” The doctor said to her in his office.
Joey lied to them that Evelyn was her sister. She dared not tell them she was a gynecologist or else her License would be seized and she would be fire from work.
“Oh my God!” she exclaimed. “Isn’t there another way to stop the bleeding?” She looked so frightened. “There’s none. The earlier we do the surgery, the better. If we wait another Twenty minutes, you would lose your sister.”
“Please go ahead with the surgery.” Joey said to the doctor. She was directed to where she would sign the document and made the payments.
She returned back to where Evelyn was lying, battling with her life and sat on the bed and held her hands in hers.
“Eve, I’m sorry but you have to undergo a surgery now. I know you don’t want your Mum to hear and I promise I won’t tell her. Just come out alive, we still have lots of things to say. You have apologies and confessions to make.” She patted her hand and released it.
Some minutes later, Evelyn was taken to the operation room while Joey hanged around the hospital waiting for them to come out.
“What do you think you are doing?” Harry turned around slowly and his eyes fell on Emily who was holding her hands on her waist. Emily had barged inside his room without knocking.
“Like what?” he asked her. “What you did at the dining table. What was that for?” She stepped forward. “I don’t know what you are talking about.” He smiled in a mischievous way.
“Look here, Mr. Harry. Do not play with me. I’m not interested in whatever you are up to. Do not repeat what you did at the dining earlier.” She turned to leave but he hurriedly grabbed her hand.
