Chapter 83 (HIS FAULT)

Emily did that because she knew those kids would say hurtful words to Grandma or ignore her when she’s talking to them. Just the few moments she spent with them, she discovered they were rude but Naomi was more rude than Michael. Michael didn’t have his right, he did things Naomi wanted him to do.

Grandma and Emily left the hospital. Emily made sure she didn’t show her anger in the car. She didn’t want Grandma to find out something happened at the hospital again.

“I can’t believe Emily did this to us,” Michael said sadly. “See? Didn’t I tell you to stay away from her the first time you started pestering her? I told you not to go closer to anyone in that house but you didn’t listen to me and went to Emily’s place. She even said she won’t break up with Harry because he isn’t part of our family,” Naomi sighed.

She was so angry and put the blemish on Michael. If not for him, she wouldn’t have get close to Emily and Emily wouldn’t have betrayed them.

“We trusted her so much.” Michael sighed. “No, you trusted her but I don’t. She even called us selfish. What concerns us with her life? Her life is hers and ours. This is all your fault.” She covered her face with the blanket and told him to go away.

Emily and Grandma returned home, Harry was surprised to see them home so early. He followed Emily to her room to give her phone but found her sobbing.

“Emily, what’s wrong?” She lifted up her head. She would have quickly cleaned her face but Harry has seen her crying and he won’t stop asking her why she was crying if she didn’t tell him.

“I… I just missed my parents.” She lied. Harry went to the bed, he sat beside her and held her hand. “Emily, you have to take heart. Your parents are already gone and you’ll never see them. Here.” He put the phone in her hand. “This is your memory of them that’s left for you. I’m sorry I took it away from you.” She took the phone from his hand and sniffed.

“Thank you,” she said to him. “Emily, you asked me what was wrong with me earlier.” She lifted up her head and looked at him. “Yes,” she nodded her head. “I just…” He stood up and took her hand. “Follow me.” They left the room holding hands.

Emily thought he was taking her to his room but he took her downstairs. Grandma was at the sitting room.

“Please take care of Jeff, we will be back soon,” Harry said to her. “Alright, bye.” She waved to them. Harry took Emily out of the house, he collected the car keys from Ron and drove them out.

“Where are we going?” Emily asked him. Harry looked at her and smiled, he didn’t say anything after that again and kept on driving. Emily too didn’t say a word to him again. She sat there looking at the street.

Some minutes later, they were in a hotel. Her heart skipped when Harry opened the door for her and she stepped out. She wondered what he brought her to do in a hotel. Her Dad once warned her not to follow any man to an hotel. He took his time to explain the disadvantages to her when she was a teenager. From they moment, Emily has been scared to go to an hotel.

Harry held her hand, he took her inside and walked past the receptionist. The receptionist stood on her feet and greeted him but he only waved to her. He entered the lift and pressed a number. Emily looked at him, he pressed the last number.

She remembered her father’s word telling her the danger of going to the last floor in an hotel. He said no one would hear her shout for help when something happened.

“Harry, I…” He grabbed her hand. “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you,” Emily nodded her head but deep down in her heart, she was scared. The lift finally came to a stop and the door opened.

Harry walked out of it with her. The last floor was so quiet and there was only one room there. Emily closed and opened her eyes to be sure of what she saw and indeed, it was just a door.

He brought out a key from his pocket and unlocked the door. He stood aside for Emily to enter. Emily could swear that room wasn’t in the hotel. It was like an apartment on it’s own. There was a sitting room very big with Cushions, fur carpet, center table and a very big television. There was also a kitchen, two rooms and a balcony at the front.

Harry locked the door, he held her hand again and took her inside one of the rooms. And again, he closed the door of the room.

“What are you trying to do?” Emily asked him. Her voice was breaking and her legs were shaking. She could fall any moment he touch her. Harry didn’t say a word to her he moved closer to her and she stepped back.

“Harry I…” He sat on the bed and supported his head with his hands. Emily didn’t complete what she was about to say. She was surprised to see him in that position. “Are you alright?” she asked him. She was afraid to go close to the bed.

“Emily, I know what’s going on.” He lifted up his face. Emily could swear that wasn’t Harry. His face was already wet with tears. She didn’t know when she moved forward and knelt in front of him and took his hands in hers.

“I heard the audio you played yesterday.” Emily’s eyes opened widely. She knew she reduced the volume but didn’t know the phone was so loud.
