The Billionaire’s Surrogate
Chapter 87 (MEETING A FAMILY MEMBER)
Chapter 87
“I’m just feeling a little weak today. I’ll send Madam Gloria to go take care of Naomi at the hospital.”
“Alright, I’ll go check on Jeff.” Emily hurried away to Grandma’s amusement. She has never seen Emily acted that way before.
Emily turned back and when she saw that Grandma wasn’t looking at her, she entered Harry’s room. Harry was surprised to see her sneak inside his room.
“Hey,” he said and shushed him. She closed the door quietly and heaved a sigh of relief. “What’s that, why are you sneaking inside my room?” She rolled her eyes and brought out the diary.
“Here.” She threw the book at him. “Grandma is in the living room that was why I hid it in my dress.” Harry picked up the diary and gave her a thumbs up. “We’ll talk later, make sure Grandma doesn’t see the diary,” she warned him.
“Alright,” Harry said opening it. “And the maids too. No one must see this,” he nodded his head and Emily left the room. She went to her room, carried Jeff who was already awake and left again.
Grandma was still in the living room but it seemed like she was already asleep. Emily tip toed down the stairs and out of the apartment holding Jeff’s head to her chest so that he won’t make any sound.
She heaved a sigh of relief again and made her way to the Quarters. She was so curious to see what Madam Gloria said she would show her. She went straight to her room and found her sitting on the bed holding a picture.
“I’m here.” Madam Gloria turned around. “You came with Jeff.” She put the picture upside down on the bed and took Jeff from Emily. “Yes. What is that you want to show me?” Emily asked.
“Sit.” Emily sat down. “Do you remember when I said you look like someone I know?” she asked and Emily nodded her head. “Yes, you know I won’t forget that,” she smiled.
“Look, do you know this person?” She handed her the picture. Emily stared at the picture very well, the person in that picture looks familiar and if course, she looks like her.
“This face looks familiar. Wait a second.” She dipped her hand inside her pocket and brought out a wallet. She has been going around with that wallet in her pocket or purse all the time.
She opened it and brought out the picture inside. She put it together with the one Madam Gloria gave her to compare them. And of course, it was the same person. The same picture too.
“This is my Mum.” Emily lifted up her head Surprisingly. “How did you get my Mum’s picture?” asked Madam Gloria. “Oh my God! I had a feeling the first time I saw you that we are related.” She exclaimed.
“Emily, Lilly is your Mum?” Emily nodded her head. “Yes, she’s my Mum.” She remembered when Madam Gloria told her she looked like someone and the person’s name was Lilly.
“Lilly is my sister. She is my little sister. Where is she? It’s been years since I saw her last.” Madam Gloria looked at her eager to know where her sister was.
“Mum is dead.” Tears dropped from her eyes. “Mum died since I was still little.” She cleaned the tears. “That man finally killed her right?” Gloria’s face was filled with tears. Emily lifted up her head, she didn’t know what Gloria meant by that.
“What do you mean?” Emily asked in tears. “Your Mum brought your Dad home as the man she wanted to marry. Your Dad was a notorious bandit well known in our village then. Our parents didn’t approved of the marriage but Lilly insisted that was the man she wanted. We told her he was a criminal but she said she would change him after marriage. One day, we all woke up but couldn’t find Lilly again. She eloped with that man to another city.”
“And they had me.” She sobbed. “I didn’t know that was who my father was. He’s… He’s dead too.” She sobbed. “How did your Mum died?” Gloria cleaned the tears on her face.
“I was little then, I can’t remember everything. But Mum and Dad were fighting and… and Mum fell down the stairs.” Her eyes widened. “He pushed her! Yes, I saw him pushed her. I didn’t know, I thought he was trying to protect her from falling down.” Emily burst in to heart touching tears.
“And all my life, I thought he loves me. I sacrificed my body and soul to save him from dying. I’m now here because of him,” she cried. “If only Lilly had listened to us, she would have still be alive.”
Emily held the picture to her chest and wept.
“Mum I’m so sorry. I didn’t know he was behind your death. I wouldn’t have waste my time going around trying to find money for his treatment.” She knelt on the floor. Madam Gloria put Jeff on the bed and knelt beside her.
“It’s okay, Emily. Do not cry again. I’m just like your Mum, you have me now.” She patted her back softly.
Some minutes later, Emily was now sitting on the bed. She has stopped crying but there was still paned in her heart. She felt so cheated and betrayed by her own father. And all those years, he had treated her Nicely. If only he had told her what he did to her mum before he died, she might have forgave him.
But there was something disturbing her which she wanted to know. She looked at Madam Gloria who was turning Jeff on one side as he sleeps.
“How did you end up here?” Emily asked her. “Well, it’s a long story.” She sighed. “Can you tell me?” Emily requested.
