Chapter 95 (ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN)

“How did Grandma manage to bring these kids back here?” Emily asked Harry in his room. “You and I were home together. Only God knows. Like seriously, those kids are funny. See the way Grandma was controlling them,” Harry laughed.

“Grandma is really tough. Who would think those kids would listen to her,” she laughed.

Evelyn and her friend Joey were in Joey’s room playing cards when Joey brought up the topic of going back home.

“We’ve talked about this, Joey. Why do you like bringing this topic all the time?” she scoffed. “Eve, I’m not telling you to go home because you are staying in my house. I just want you to go home and make everyone knows the truth. You haven’t even call anyone back home for days now. You should at least call your Mum and inform her you would be returning home tomorrow.”

“And who told you I will be going back home tomorrow? I’m not leaving now. If I go home in this situation, everyone would notice I did something bad,” she sighed.

“If you are tired of my staying here, just tell me. I’ll go stay in an hotel. I’m tired of your little talks already. You don’t even allow me to breath in peace again.”

“But you are okay. Eve, consider going home please. Who knows, things might have happened in your absence.” Evelyn lifted up her head. Her friend was beginning to sound right.

“Who knows, Harry and Emily might be in love now. It has been more than weeks you left home and anything can happen.” Her friend went on when she saw that Evelyn was beginning to concentrate on what she was saying.

“Your Mum might have make them fall in love since you aren’t around to stop Harry from that. How many times has Harry called you this week?” she asked her.

“Just once and I was the one that called him.” Joe giggled. “See what I am saying? You should go home and see things for yourself. You can always sneak out to go for check ups like you always sneaked out to go see a man.”

“Hey! Stop saying that. You know what? I’m going home.” Evelyn stood up. “You can’t go home now, it’s already 9pm and your mum would find out you didn’t travel. Tomorrow morning or afternoon would be better. You can tell them you took the early flight.”

“You are right. Thanks girl, but I have to pack up now.” Evelyn hurried out of the room and her friend heaved a sigh of relief. “She should go home, my husband will be back in three days time and I can’t allow them to see,” she continued playing the cards alone while laughing to herself.

Evelyn went back to the room, she started packing her things while thinking of what her friend had said to her.

“Harry must never fall in love with that girl. Never!” She picked up her phone after she was done packing and called Harry but he didn’t answer the call because he was with Emily at that moment.

“This shouldn’t just turn out to be true.” She dialed the driver’s number but it was switched off. “What da!” she exclaimed. “How could he switch off his phone when he knows that I’ll call him.” She threw her phone on the bed and sat down supporting her head with her hands.

Unknown to Evelyn, her driver has also left the house. At first, he was scared to leave but then he remembered his family whom he hadn’t see for two years and they lived in the same city. He went to Harry and told him he would also be leaving. Harry gave him the money too and he left.

Harry knew he was always driving Evelyn out of the house anytime of the day. He got suspicious one certain time but he brushed it away.

Next morning, as early as 7am. Evelyn came out of the room all dressed up carrying her bags. She has called the driver again but his phone was still switched off.

“Is your driver here?” Joey asked her. She was already ready to go to work. “No, his phone isn’t connecting,” she said shifting her hair to one side. “Then how are you going home?” she asked again.

“I’m taking the taxi.” Joey was surprised and Evelyn saw it. “What?” she rolled her eyes. “I thought you said you will never take a taxi in your entire life because your son is a billionaire,” Joey giggled.

“Forget about that. I know I said it but this case is different. I have to get home now, I can’t wait for when the driver decided to turn on his phone.”

“Alright, I’ll drop you off at the bus stop.” Joey said and Evelyn hissed. “Are you kidding me? I can’t enter a public bus.” She picked up her bag. “What’s with the angry look? I was just trying to help.”

“I don’t need your help. I’ve already booked a cab.” She went out of the house and Joey followed her. And as she has said, the cab was waiting for her at the gate.

“Thank you for everything, friend. Till we meet again.” Evelyn waved at Joey and entered the car. “Bye.” Joey waved to her. She stood there for some minutes waving and waving until the cab was out of her sight.

“Finally.” She heaved a sigh of relief.

“Are you ready to go?” Harry asked Emily who was parking her hair with a ribbon. “Almost, just some seconds and we’ll be out of here.” They were getting ready to go for the shopping he promised her the previous day. Emily turned around and smiled at him. She was wearing a black top and a blue jean trousers.
