The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 26: It Doesn’t Concern You
Chapter 26
Lucy did not know why but the truth just blurted out of her mouth. “N–No,” she answered. What was the worse that could happen.
Greg chuckled with a nod. “What about now? What do you feel?”
Lucy looked into his eyes which had regained its humor then she lowered her head. She wondered what plan he would have come up with if she had asked for his help. Was she too scared to face her fears?
“I don’t know,” she answered again. The damage was already done. She couldn’t imagine the scolding she would receive after this. Just this distance with him could escalate rumors. And the fact that the reporters were present wasn’t helping matters.
“The stage is ours.”
His words made her frown then she realized that the music had stopped. People dispersed from the stage, and all eyes were on them.
“Look at me,” he called out in a whisper and her frown deepened.
She lifted her head to meet his gaze and before she could register anything, his palms cupped her cheeks and cold lips landed on hers.
Lucy froze as all hell broke lose. Everything around her became a clamour of confusion. People gasped and whispered loudly. But amidst all that, her mind was only on his lips against hers. She was too shocked to react as he kept ravishing her lips.
Then everything turned into a blur. The ground shook. Many voices ran through her head. Noises and screams came from a distance. And all became darkness… She could only feel her body being lifted away.
The Next Morning…
Greg walked inside his room with a small tray in his hands. His eyes landed on the bed and he let out a chuckle.
He sauntered forward and carefully placed down the tray on the bedside table before sitting on the bed. His lips curled up and he supported himself on one arm while he used the other hand to stroke her long black hair.
“Come on, Princess… It’s time to wake up,” he whispered as his gaze lingered on her peaceful face.
She mumbled something in her slip then turned away from him with pursed lips and he laughed.
She was perfect. Everything about her was simply amusing. And also, dangeroust. She didn’t know what she could do to men. With the way her clear eyes gazed around and her innocent actions. She was too naïve for her own good.
People with such innocence rarely existed. And a park of power hungry wolves out there would do anything to capture. Too bad she fell into the hands of one.
His expression changed and his eyes darkened. Things almost got out of hands. Why didn’t she ask for help?
When he stepped into the hall last night and his eyes landed on her, he immediately knew something was wrong. His earliy assumptions that kicked his instincts to go there were right. That basterd would do anything for status and money.
Was she too naïve or scared to call out for help. Either way, none had done her any good. She must know that shouting out wouldn’t hurt. Or was she scared of what he would do too? Well, too late.
His gaze darted to her as she turned again on the bed.
She fluttered her eyes opened– those eyes. And they lingered on the ceiling for a while then a frown settled on her face.
Her head turned to the side and their gazes met. In that instant, her pupils dilated and she let out a scream as she jerked up on the bed.
Greg covered his ears with a chuckle and watched as she tried to get a word out of her with trembling lips.
“W– What am I doing here,” she stammered.
He could hear her heart pounding and her body had started shaking.
“What do you think you’re doing here?” Greg laughed. Why did every of her expression have to look cute? She was truly a man’s killer.
“W– What happened to me?” She checked her body, and after confirming that she was still in her gown, she let out a sigh of relief. “Wait, the engagement.” She gasped and jerked her head back to him.
“Relax, Princess.” Greg tried to hold her but she flinched. He frowned and withdrew his hands. Something was wrong. Where was the care-free girl from months ago? The last time they parted, she was scared. But now, she seemed worse. Was it frightened? He couldn’t point out.
“Why did you do that? Why did you bring me here?” Her eyes watered. “And how did you even get passed the securities?”
Getting past those guards and the securities was a piece of cake. And why was she asking those questions. Greg’s eyes narrowed. He waited to calm his breathing, to reason with her condition, then said, “You needed help.”
“I didn’t ask for your help. Did I?” Lucy retorted as a tear dropped from her eyes. “Now you’ve ruined everything. Everything!” She started sobbing.
“Is this how you thank your savior?” Greg’s eyes darkened and anger built up in his chest. Wasn’t she supposed to be happy? That idiot was obviously using her, he had seen that. Why was she acting this way?
Her hand wandered to her lips and she wiped it. Now, she’s disgusted. He chuckled. “I didn’t know you were a masochist.”
“You won’t understand…” She held her chest and sobbed. “Why should you? All you do is cause trouble for others. You don’t care if—”
“Now, I’m the one that causes trouble.” Greg flared up. “Will you just stand there and watch your life being played with?”
“It doesn’t concern you.” Lucy sprang down from the bed, her eyes looking around the room. “It’s my life not yours… You don’t have any right to but into my business and ruin—”
“Enough.” Greg held up his hand and also got down. He strolled to where she stood and she cowered away. “I don’t have any business with your life, I now know that. You don’t want that engagement, I know it well… If my attempt to help you out of your dilemma and make your dreams come true doesn’t settle with you, then I’m disappointed.”
