The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 27: You Didn’t Listen To Us
Chapter 27
Lucy lowered her head while fidgeting with her hands. She sniffed and her eyes darted to where her purse lay on the bed. She picked it up and staggered out of his room with slumped shoulders.
After the door closed behind her, Greg turned around and kicked the bedside table with clenched fists. What kind of a woman was she? Would she preffer being tortured by that basterd instead of seeking for help? When he took her in his arms last night, she was weak and sick. And immediately his lips landed on her freezing ones, she passed out.
Every evidence had pointed to one thing. That basterd had being bullying her. She’s unbelievable. And here he was, risking everything to pull her out of her trouble.
Another chucke escaped his lips and he heaved a heavy sigh. His eyes landed on the higheels stucked between the bed and the bedside table. And he looked at the breakfast which had lost its steam. He breathed out a heavy sigh then slumped on the bed.
A few minutes later, the door opened and his brother walked in with knitted brows.
“I saw her leaving now, she was crying and devastated. What happened?” George muttered in confusion.
Greg pushed himself up and chuckled. “She doesn’t need help.”
“That’s ridiculous.” Geroges frown deepened and he let out a sigh. “Then you had a fight.” He turned to his brother and said.
Greg ran a hand through his hair and sighed. Without giving an answer, he picked the tray and started sipping the cold tea.
His eyes darted to his brother who had suddenly let out a small laugh and he rolled his eyes. “Don’t give me that look,” he murmured as his grip tightened on the cup.
Geroges raised both hands in a peaceful and he also sighed. After some seconds, he opened his mouth and said, “Dad called, he wanted to see us both.”
Lucy dragged her feet on the cold empty street. Her tears had long dried. She couldn’t cry anymore. All those fears, anxiousnes, and anxiety had accumulated in her heart, turning her numb.
What would happen next? What was she supposed to do. She was in real trouble this time. She couldn’t believe what happened last night. Everyone was present. The media, her friends, the relatives, and above all, her family. Her parents had seen it. Her brothers, her sisters-in-law, all of them had witnessed everything.
Why would both of her greatest nightmares come true in one night? No matter how hard she had tried to avoid them, why did destiny play such horrible trick with her? Not it was over, everything was over.
She shut her eyes, not wanting to think anymore as the cold wind hit her. Her stomach grumbled, but hunger was far from her mind. If she could trade starving for days for whatever impending doom awaited her, she would blissful do so.
The sound of a car made her open her eyes and a taxi appeared before her. She lift up her hand to hail it, and when she saw it’s driver, her eyes widened.
The man also stared at her in shock and he said, “It’s a small world after all. We meet again.”
Lucy slowly nodded and greeted him in a barely audible voice. She trudged to the back and opened the door, then sat in the backseat.
Without saying anything, the man drove her in silence.
Several minutes later, the car arrived at the residential area and her heart got heavy with each passing second.
She got down and tried to pay the man who told her to keep the money.
Lucy did not have energy to try and convince him. She murmured a thanks and turned around.
“Be strong.”
She could hear the man say before he drove off. Or was that her inner voice? She wasn’t sure.
Lucy turned around and faced the tall gate. Her hand wandered to her chest and she took in a deep breath.
Then she stepped forward and lifted her trembling hand to knock.
The door opened before she could knock for the third time and the security guy stared at her in shock.
“Y– Young Miss!” He exclaimed and quickly paved way for her.
Lucy looked down and made her way into the house. The mansion was quiet. Very quiet she could hear a pindrop. And her heart slowly dropped to her stomach.
The large door was ajar and when she entered, the living room was also empty.
Walking upstairs, several noises came from the far side of the hallway and she halted. A few seconds later, she continued walking again toward her mother’s room.
Her lips trembled and her hands shook as she pushed the door open.
The voices stopped, and several eyes stared back at her in shock.
Her mother lay on the bed with a wet towel on her forehead. Her father sat beside her, and both her brothers with their waves stood facing the bed.
“L– Look at her.” Her mother pointed a trembling hand at her and burst into sobs. “This girl… What have you done?” She wailed.
Her father’s eyes were red with anger. “What are you doing here?” He muttered in a low tone filled with anger. “Answer me!” He jerked up and roared.
Lucy flinched and her lips trembled. “F– Father—”
A hard searing slap sent her across the floor and Lucy held her burning cheeks. Her ears buzzed with noises, her vision blurred, and freshed tears poured from her eyes.
“I don’t want to see you here. Go back to where you are coming from. You are a shame, Lucy. You’ve brought shame to this household. Now, we’re the talk of the town. It’s everywhere on the media. Are you happy now!!!”
Lucy’s heart shattered into a thousand pieces as every of his words sank in.
“You didn’t listen to us, Lucy. We told you to stay away from those boys,” her mother cried. “Now, look what you’ve done.”
