The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 41: Lost II
Chapter 41
“I wonder what is wrong with her.”
“Yeah, she looks all scared and shaken.”
“Can she not talk or hear us? Wait– is she a mute?”
“Poor girl, I wonder if her parents are among the clients that came earlier.”
“She looks so cute, I think we should help her find her parents.”
They all spoke in loud whispers, that Lucy had to cover her ears. If she turned around and entered back into the elevator, there was no doubt those securities would catch her. And if she stayed here, she was afraid she would really have a mental break down.
“Come with me, Little girl. I’m sure your parents are not far from here.” One of them tried to hold her hand and Lucy flinched back.
They have all surrounded her, she couldn’t even see anything ahead.
“Wait, Wait Wait, I know her.” A high-pitched voice suddenly sounded from the crowd and Lucy shuddered.
“She’s a sister of one of my friends. He just dropped me, I think she was trying to follow me.” Thea emerged from the crowd and everyone nodded in realization.
“You’re such a sweet girl, have you grown so fond of me you intended to tag along? Where’s Jai, is he also here with you?”
Her voice was everywhere, and Lucy covered her ears for real this time. Her heart started burning range and she tried not to look at the girl’s face. Just the last person she wanted to see. She would make a bigger scene than one she was making at the moment if she didn’t keep her emotions in check. And she couldn’t help but wonder if Thea had actually landed the job.
“What is all this fuss and nonsense about!?” A big voice thundered from the hallway, making everyone flinch.
The workers all looked fearful and scared, and she followed their gazes to see a mighty woman– well, she was mighty, because she was so huge, even bigger and scarier than those securities.
“Oh, no. It’s the new assistant.” One of the workers squeaked.
“Are we going to lose our jobs?” Another one gulped.
The woman walked forward, even the ground shook with each step she took. And all the workers cowered in one place.
She leaned forward and gave all of them a scrutinizing look. “Why the commotion?” She asked in a deep scary voice. And the workers all but pointed in Lucy’s direction. Even Thea had drew back and blended in with the crowd. They were all trembling and sweating.
“Little girl.” The woman narrowed her eyes on Lucy. “What brings you here to distract the employees.”
Lucy trembled so much her teeths were almost chattering. And of all the bad lucks in the world, she had to be the one to shoulder the heaviest one. Because, one of the elevators opened, and out came the three huge securities.
Now, she was stuck between four scary giants, as the murderous looks in their eyes intensified.
’Relax, Lucy… you can’t faint here, otherwise, they’ll take you away and cut you into tiny pieces,” she tried to reassure her self by chanting inside. But she so wanted to faint right now.
Even the workers had disappeared, she didn’t know when they all dispersed.
“There is the intruder, grab her!” Yelled one of the securities.
Lucy panicked and her eyes darted across the four people in fright.
Standing in front of her was the big scary woman. And behind her were the three monstrous securities. She was totally done for.
She was about to break down at any second, however, it seemed like her legs had a mind of their own.
And with a speed she didn’t know she possessed, her legs carried her forward, pushing past the big woman, and running straight ahead.
Lucy ran and ran, but she didn’t run long. When she turned back and found them chasing after her and closing in on her, she halted in her tracks and barged inside the nearest room she could find. And she locked it with trembling hands, then melted against the door.
She was trapped, completely trapped. It wasn’t even a question whether those people could catch her soon.
“Urgh!” Her eyes wandered around the place and she found herself in an enormous office.
Then a voice jolted her.
“I thought I promised to finish the documents, can’t you let me rest for a few seconds?” The smooth manly voice said in a whiny tone.
Lucy almost fell in shock. Her pupils expanded as she stared at the figure whose back was to her. He was sitting on a swivel chair and facing the large floor-to-ceiling window.
Just how more bad luck was in store for her? Were the heavens cursing on her?
She stood transfixed, unable to move or even blink. She had even lost her speech for real this time. Her mind couldn’t even conjure anything, and her heart beat was in chaos.
The figure, as if sensing strong swiveled around to face her, with a deep frown seated on his face.
Lucy’s breathing hitched and she swallowed a huge Lump of saliva. Her ears weren’t playing tricks on her. It was really him. Those dark eyes full of mischief.
The guy’s eyes were fixed on her for a few seconds, as if also shocked to see her. But if he was shock, he didn’t show it. Because he tilted his head to the side and stared at her in amusement. “Who are you? What brings you here?” He finally rose to his feet and asked.
Lucy pressed her back so tightly on the door, if only she could disappear behind it. Her fists dug into her dress as she tried to keep herself from trembling so much. And her legs shifted on the floor.
The guy left his chair and moved forward, each of his step in rhythm with her heartbeat.
“Answer me young lady. Are you a spy sent by my assistant? Did she ask you to lock me in my own office?” He stood in front of her and used both hands to cage her between the door.
Lucy bit her lips and her eyes darted everywhere but him.
