The Mischievous CEO Won't Let Me Go
Chapter 42: A Familiar Vibe
Chapter 42
“Or, are you the cute little present my brother promised?” He let out a chuckle. “Is this some kind of prank?”
His eyes narrowed, and he held her chin. Lucy wanted to cry at the moment.
“This is surely a prank… How could he send me a minor? I can tell you’re barely sixteen.” He tilted his head to the side. “Did he promise to give you a candy?”
Lucy’s mouth hung open and she controlled her fist from flying to his face. How insulting. He even thought she was one of his and his brother’s playthings. No need to get angry. Right now, all she wanted to do was flee.
“How interesting, you can’t talk.” He tilted his head again while his lips curled into an evil smirk. “How practical. He even mocks me now, is it because he’s lucky to have a hot assistant. While I’m stuck with this scary lady?” He said, reffering to his brother.
“Well, I’ll make sure I put him into his place.” He pulled Lucy away from the door and started fiddling with the keys.
‘Oh, no.’ Lucy’s heart stopped for a moment. Was he going to throw her out there to the securities? And what if they roughed her up and discover her disguise?
She let out a help and twisted her wrist free of his hold, which definitely caught his attention.
“How interesting.” He let out another chuckle.
Lucy took a step back and he stepped forward, until her back hit the desk.
“You really want to be here.” He leaned forward and looked her in the eyes. “How old are you, Young lady?”
Lucy gulped and cowered from his gaze. If she wanted to leave here, she had to play along.
So she raised her hand and stuck out her fingers.
“You’re five?” He questioned with a frown and she quickly shook her head.
Lucy tried again by sticking out one finger first, before releasing the other fours.
“Oh, you’re fifteen,” he said in realization, and she bobbed her head frantically, then put both palms together, while giving him a pleading look.
“And you need help?” He asked again, and she nodded, indicating he was correct.
“What can I help you with?” His frown deepened.
Lucy pointed toward the door, where heavy knocks were coming from. The guy followed her gaze then he turned to her.
“Let me have a look,” he said with another chuckle, then walked away to the door.
And immediately he did so, Lucy quickly ducked behind the couch she spotted at a corner.
‘We saw an intruder entered the company, she’s on the run.’
‘She is blonde and disguised as a minor, I think she might be a spy.’
‘We saw her running in this direction moments ago, she shouldn’t have gone far.’
Those were the securities voices. Loud and filled with rage.
‘I don’t know, I’ve been in my office all day.’
Lucy peaked from behind the couch, he had held the door open with a careless smile on his face.
‘And why is the door locked?’
That was the scary woman. And she made way to enter the office, when he blocked her path by spreading both arms.
‘I’m so busy working on the documents.’ He shrugged. ‘I only locked it to avoid any disturbance.’
The woman gave him an intimidating look and he widened his smiled. ‘Now, that you’re all done disturbing my work, could you please go out?’ he asked in a polite manner.
The woman nodded cautiously, as if she didn’t believe him. Then she held up her hand, like a leader of a gang would do to command his minions, and the three securities walked away.
‘Make sure you finish those documents before I come back. Otherwise, I’m phoning your Mum,’ she said to him with another intimidating look and stepped out.
Lucy sighed in releif and closed her eyes. But she was surprised. Surprised that that lady was truly his assistant. Whatever trouble he had gotten himself into to get this kind of bossy assistant, it really served him right.
And now that the securities were gone, she had to find a way to get away from him without him recognizing her.
“I’ve sent them away, you can come out.” He came to stand beside the couch, towering over her.
Lucy stood up on shaky legs and avoided his gaze.
“Now tell me why your truly here.” He started walking forward and she quickly moved to the side.
Lucy shook her head in disagreement, and bowed to thank him, then started hurrying toward the door.
The securities must have gone far, she might have a better chance of success, if she escaped now.
But he caught her hand before she could reach the door and drew her close until her body collided with his.
His dark gaze bored deep into her eyes then he lowered his head and let out that familiar dark chuckle.
“Now, I’m begging to wonder,” he said in a low voice. “You seem to give off a familiar vibe, have we met before?”
Lucy’s eyes drained of all color and she quickly shook her head.
“We haven’t?” He asked with knitted brows and she nodded.
“But your eyes tells me a different thing.” He lifted his hand to trace the outlines of her jaws with his fingers. “These eyes can only belong to someone.”
Lucy’s face drained of all color and she shook her head so hard she was afraid her neck would break.
“No?” He asked to confirm her thoughts. And she nodded.
“Do you even know who I was talking about?” He tilted his head and chuckled.
Lucy nodded but quickly shook her head. ‘Argh’ why wouldn’t he leave her alone already. She was running out of time for God’s sake.
“You don’t know her?” He asked once more and she nodded again.
“How am I to believe that? You might be related, you don’t know?” He said in a whisper. “And too bad you can’t say a word.” He continued with his fingers exploration of her face.
“What do you think? Maybe I should find out myself. This office is loud and sound proof. You’re also mute.”
