The President's Daring Wife
Chapter 16: Her Fashion Sense
Chapter 18
Three days went by and Ethan had been strictly abiding by her rules. As it was the weekdays, he no longer spent the night at the company, and he also returned home early.
Eve shook her head and chuckled. It appeared he liked the idea of making his Grandpa happy by working hard on the project. Why then had he not touched her yet?
Eve’s brows creased into a frown and she stared into her reflection for the umpteenth time in the mirror.
In her past life, Ethan had only slept with her once. That was the night she’d drugged him at his grandfather’s birthday party. Was he planning to repeat that? Had he ever desired her?
If she hadn’t drugged him, would he have even thought of touching a woman?
She had threatened him not to think of touching her in the past, and he didn’t show any hint of concern. Wait a minute…
Was Ethan…
‘What am I thinking?’ Eve slapped her forehead and shuddered. Ethan readily agreed to marry her without any resistance, so that meant he was normal.
“Madam, is something bothering you?” Elena came into the room to deliver Eve’s and Ethan’s laundered clothes.
Eve pursed her lips and sat on the bed. “Ethan won’t touch me, Elena. Am I not attractive enough?”
“Oh, my goodness. Is that why you’re sad, Madam?”
Eve slowly nodded.
Elena walked into the closet and after dropping the clothes, she came out and sat on the stool beside the vanity mirror.
“Don’t let such things bother you, Madam. Of course, you’re attractive. If you walk on the red carpet, you will dim the light of every celebrity out there.”
“Don’t try to make me feel better.” Eve blew out the strand of hair that was trying to enter her mouth.
“But, Madam, I’m telling the truth.” Elena put on a serious look. “However…” Her eyes lingered on Eve’s cloth and she hesitated.
“However, what?” Eve straightened up. “Tell me what is the problem, Elena. I’m dying to know what I’m not doing right.”
“W–Well… I’ll be honest with you then, Madam.” Elena fiddled with her fingers. “You see… I think the first problem is with your fashion sense. You can’t expect Young Master to look at you when you dress in baggy clothes all the time, right?”
Eve glanced at herself. She was only wearing a shirt today, one of Ethan’s shirts, and one of her shorts. The shirt extended down to her lap, concealing the shorts.
“And also your hair, Madam.” Elena went on. “It is no different from a bird’s nest. If you want Young Master to desire you, you have to take good care of your appearance.”
Eve grimaced. That was a bit brutal. She’d never been this conscious of her body.
“Your ears look like a baby’s. Even men wear jewelry nowadays, Madam. Did you lose your wedding ring? Your legs are not smooth enough, and your skin is too pale. When was the last time you painted your nails, Madam?”
“Ahhh! Elena, but you just praised my looks to the heavens.” Eve wanted to cry. The last time she painted her nails? Was it during her wedding?
“Of course, you’re beautiful and attractive, Madam. But you don’t take care of your beauty or let out your attractiveness.”
“Urgh! I’m so hopeless!” Eve’s back hit the bed and she stared at the ceiling.
“Now, don’t lose hope, Madam. Since you’ve known your problem, the next thing you should do is try to solve it. I advise you to get rid of your baggy clothes and get new ones. Start living like a noble lady and behave like one. I promise you Young Master won’t be able to resist you.”
“You think so?” Eve sat up on the bed, her eyes lighting up.
“Absolutely, Madam. In my many years as a house Stewardess, I’ve had my share of how wealthy housewives live.”
“That’s it! Thank you, Elena. I’m gonna get rid of those god-damned clothes.”
“Also mind your language, Madam. That’s not the way a noble housewife speaks.”
“Oh.” Eve nodded and covered her mouth.
In the province, she could speak and act the way she wanted. Her choice of words had landed her in trouble many times when she was brought here to the city. So she knew the Stewardess had a point.
“Ethan is still at home, right?”
Eve had finished her breakfast quickly and left him still eating. Because she was mad that they’d spent nights together on the same bed and he hadn’t made any advances towards her yet, and because she couldn’t voice out her anger without looking stupid, she decided to avoid him to cool off somewhere.
“Yes, Young Master must have gone to the study room to retrieve his briefcase. You must hurry if you want to see him.”
Eve sprang up and disappeared into the closet. She searched for a nice dress to change into, then she put on her shoes and grabbed a handbag as well as her credit card.
Ethan was no longer in his study room, and she sprinted out of the house to catch up with him.
“Ethan, wait up!” Eve stopped him at the parking lot. She reached his side and took a few seconds to catch her breath.
“Is anything the matter?” Ethan asked.
“Yeah.” Eve stood up straight and adjusted her dress by smoothening the creases on it. “Ethan, you’re ditching the company today. Let’s hit the mall. I want to go shopping.”
A small frown settled on Ethan’s face.
“Come on, Ethan, we must hurry. I have a lot to buy and the sun has already popped up.” Eve tapped her foot on the ground.
Ethan brought his phone out of his pants pocket. He tapped into it and Eve craned her neck to see what he was doing.
Her phone beeped and she brought it out.
“I’m not going, I have an important meeting at the company.” After saying that, he entered the car and drove off.
Eve couldn’t take her eyes off her phone’s screen. One million. Ethan had just broken one of her rules and he sent her one million.
If he could break her rules this easily, had she implemented them for nothing?
Eve felt like a fool as she stood in the parking lot alone.
