Chapter 85: She Is Also A Traitor In This Company

The silence was more deafening than ever. All eyes were now on Eve, including Ethan’s.

“Eve, what is happening?”

“Please ask her, Mr. Anderson.” Jessie went on. “I didn’t see it coming that Mrs. Anderson is also a greedy person. I thought she only came to this company and snatched my position only because of jealousy. Unknowingly, Mrs. Anderson has hidden intentions.”

“Ethan, don’t listen to her—”

“I implore you to ask her also, Mr. Anderson.” Jessie didn’t let her finish speaking. “Let her tell you the truth. Is she a member of The Ambitious Employees Club or not?”

Ethan stared at Eve… There were so many questions in his eyes and Eve sent a glare in Jessie’s direction.

“If she doesn’t want to admit it, I have evidence that will back up my claim.” Jessie smiled sweetly then brought out her phone. “Someone, please connect this to the projector.”

The man operating the projector took the phone from her and connected it. Not long after, some images started playing.

“These are all photos of Mrs. Anderson sneaking out of the company… Not once, not twice, and definitely not three times. She is an active member of that club and she goes to their secret meeting place every day during lunch break.”

Some of those photos showed her going to a coffee shop. In some, she was coming out of it, while in others, she was sneaking out of the company.

“Since I noticed that Mrs. Anderson has been acting weird, I hired some people to watch over her. At first, I was afraid she would put herself in trouble. But then, her actions became weirder.”

Jessie looked away from the projector and faced Ethan whose face was as dark as the night. “Mr. Anderson, please forgive me for asking. Have you checked your wife’s account balance for this month? Is it an estimate of the salary you gave her?”

Ethan snatched Eve’s phone from her hand and he logged into her banking app. His expression got darker when he saw her account balance and he tossed the phone back to her. “Evelyn!”

Eve quickly caught her phone, her heart pounding.

“I advise you to investigate her, Mr. Anderson. Most of the people here are members of that club. And their only mission in this company is to bring you down, as I’ve told you before. This isn’t a lack of professionalism, this is deceit and they’re all traitors. And to think that Mrs. Anderson joined hands with them, Did she marry you for a purpose?”

“Don’t cross the line too much, Jessica?” Eve dropped the phone into her bag. “I can see you have done your research very well. So instead of facing your job, you have been spying on me all this time.”

“The real spy among us is obvious, Mrs. Anderson. While I am working in favor of the company, you’re only thriving to bring it down.”

“And one more thing.” Jessie’s smile expanded. “I would like you to check your profile on the company’s website, Mr. Anderson. Someone might have hacked into your computer to upload some false claims. Or maybe it is Mrs. Anderson. The truth is obvious.”

Jessie had not finished speaking when one of the employees brought a laptop and placed it in front of Ethan.

His fingers shook as he logged into his profile and Eve held her breath.

On the first page of his profile was a very long and detailed post. It was none other than the document she had uploaded.

“I admit that I have been handling the company recklessly and I embezzle funds from the company and have affairs with my employees?” Ethan read out the headline, his dark look turning into that of confusion. “And therefore, I decide to step down as the president?”

He read out the remaining words and stared at Eve. “Did you type this?” He asked.

Eve shut her eyes and lowered her head, fiddling with her fingers.

“Evelyn!”

“Don’t waste your emotions on her, Mr. Anderson,” Jessie spoke up. “She is not the only criminal in this room. Other people are also involved.” She pointed in Amanda’s direction. “Thankfully, I heard that you did a great job dealing with some employees in the other city. I hope you will do the same here, Mr. Anderson, and rid this company of bad people.”

“That’s right, Jessie. They don’t deserve to be here.”

“Please don’t spare anyone, Mr. Anderson. This is a huge problem we should solve while the iron is still hot.”

The other shareholders nodded in agreement while muttering supporting words.

“Also concerning your marriage with Mrs. Anderson.” Jessie shook her head and smiled. “I am sure you can find a better wife. Because I don’t think any man would want to keep such a wife with them, no matter how beautiful she is or how wealthy her family is. Think of your children’s reputation, Mr. Anderson.”

Murmurs broke out again and the shareholders all but nodded concurrently.

“Are you done?” Eve raised a brow. “Jessica, you’re so pathetic. I’ve been waiting patiently to hear what you’ve been aiming at. So the whole purpose of this is to covet my husband, right?”

“Why would I think if coveting your husband? I’m only speaking the truth.” Jessie’s smile didn’t falter.

“Oh, really?” Eve scoffed. “But I don’t see it that way.” She looked away from the girl and faced the shareholders. “Everyone, can I please have your attention? I am sure you will be humble enough to hear the story from my point of view.”

“What point of view? Give it up, Mrs. Anderson, you have been exposed and—”

Eve held out her hand, glaring at Jessie to shut her up. “Jessie is right in stating the mission of The Ambitious Employees Club. And I should thank her for not leaving anything out. But I want to ask her a question. Since when did you find out about this club?”

“As I’ve said before, this club has been operating for many years.” Jessie scoffed. “One time, they even approached me. But as a loyal secretary of the president, I didn’t think twice before turning them down.”

“Thank you.” Eve smiled then shoved a hand into her bag. “It is true that I joined that club and I carried out many missions for them.”

The murmurs started again and Eve went on. “But I’d like you to look at the post clearly,” she said to Ethan. “Is it uploaded or not?”

Ethan brought his eyes to the computer and scrolled through the post. “It is a draft.”

“That’s right. It is a draft, you didn’t see wrong.” Eve took out a device from her bag. “Because I never intended to upload it, Honey. My only purpose was to show it to you when the right time comes.”

“Who will even believe that? Do you take us for fools, Mrs. Anderson?” Jessie flared up.

“Let her speak, Jessie.” Ethan gave her a hard look then he glanced at the securities at the door. “Lock this room and seize everyone’s phone. No one will leave here today or even communicate with someone outside until the whole truth comes out!”

While the security men carried out the order, Eve played with the device in her hand. Her phone was also seized, but that was the furthest thing in her mind right now.

“Evelyn, everyone is listening. Tell us what you know,” Ethan looked up at her.

“It is true that I joined The Ambitious Employees Club for a purpose. But my purpose wasn’t to bring down this company. My purpose was to fish out all the traitors. Promise me, Honey. After I’m done explaining, you will not only fire the bad employees but also this Jessica. Because she is also a traitor in this company!”
