Chapter 34 Saved Her
A gold-digger.
That word reminded her of a lot of things, especially that day five years ago.
Funny how this was the second time someone was calling her that.
What an irony that Clyde happened to be present now.
Did he also recall that?
Was that why he seemed so angry? After all, he'd also labeled her with the same name.
The Manager must have sensed the danger also, and he trailed off, his body shaking like a leaf. “M- Mister, please stay out of this. I need to teach her a lesson.”
“How about I teach you one first?” Clyde glared at him before moving a finger in the air.
In the next second, three bodyguards came inside and grabbed the Manager.
“What's the punishment befitting someone who bullied Mrs. Crawford?” He snorted.
The bodyguards glanced at each other, and they nodded concurrently as if communicating silently.
They started dragging the Manager out whose expression was as pale as a sheet of paper.
The man let out a loud scream, bawling his eyes out. “M- Mrs. Crawford? Are you serious? You mustn't be Clyde Crawford. H- How- How!”
The Manager remained confused while the bodyguards took him away.
Violet finally recovered from her shock.
Was Clyde’s anger just now directed at the Manager?
Why did he save her when he didn't like her a bit?
Wasn't that ridiculous?
“Did he hurt you?” He came forward and touched her shoulder. “Violet Harris, aren't you the trouble magnet?”
Violet took a step back.
Standing in the same proximity as him, her heartbeat was already picking up.
She composed herself and stared straight at him. “Where's my baby?”
“You haven't answered me yet.”
Was she supposed to tell him that she was fine?
Wouldn't that be a pain to his ears?
Rolling her eyes, Violet shoved past him and left the office.
Since Clyde was here, her baby mustn't be far.
Yet, she didn't expect to walk into the crowd gathered in front of the Manager’s office.
Before, everyone stared at her as if she was the filthiest person they'd ever seen,
But now, their eyes were filled with nothing but shock and admiration.
“Tsk! The Manager had it coming.”
“How dare he mistake Mrs. Crawford for a thief?”
“I bet all these people will get fired immediately.”
“This young lady, although dressed casually, doesn't appear normal at all.”
“She turns out to be Mr. Crawford's wife.”
Great!
Just great!
Violet wasn't only the center of attention. Her name was probably going to appear in the media also.
Sighing helplessly, she ignored the noises and glanced across the crowd, searching for her baby.
She almost didn't recognize Mimi at first because she was wearing a new set of clothes Violet couldn't remember buying for her.
A bright pink princess dress paired with a crown.
Mimi scurried out of the crowd, holding the long dress. She didn't seem to notice her as she walked straight to where Clyde stood.
“Daddy, this one looks great! Can I have it?”
Clyde pursed his lips the way Mimi would whenever she was displeased with something. “It's beautiful, but we'll no longer buy from this place?”
“Huh? What happened, Daddy?” Instead of throwing a tantrum or getting mad, the little girl actually seemed considerate as she spoke to her father.
Violet couldn't believe this side of Mimi. She obviously liked the dress.
If it was someone else who denied her of it, she'd surely turn this place upside down with her screams.
“They bullied your Mummy. Not worth buying from,” Clyde responded to her question.
And immediately, Mimi stripped out of the dress and dropped the crown. She'd worn it atop her mini jumpsuit after all.
“We're no longer buying it, Miss. Since you guys bullied my Mummy, my Daddy and I are leaving.” She gave the dress back to the sales lady who looked as if she wanted to cry.
Everyone was silent, and the staff hung their heads in shame.
What a waste!
That dress looked so good on Mimi. Well, Violet wouldn't have advised her to take it either.
Without waiting for Mimi to notice her first, she picked the girl up and turned for the door.
“Mummy, those meanies are unbelievable. Tell Mimi how they bullied you. I'll ask Daddy to get revenge.”
Mimi didn't appear surprised to see her.
Maybe Clyde had informed her she was coming.
The little girl bombarded her with all sorts of questions about how the mall staff bullied her,
But Violet's mind was only occupied with how to escape with her without Clyde stopping them.
“Aren't you walking too fast, Violet?”
Hard luck!
Clyde was right behind them, breathing down her neck.
“Please slow down, Mummy. We can't leave Daddy behind.”
Urgh!
Violet really had the urge to tell the girl that her father was a bad person.
She threw him a side-eyed glare and slowed down her pace.
Realizing that she wouldn't be able to escape with the bodyguards around and her baby protesting, Violet calmed down first.
She would think of a plan later.
Outside the mall, Clyde's car was already waiting with two bodyguards holding the backseat doors open.
“Guess what, Mummy? Daddy promised to take us to the Amusement Park.” Mimi's loud excited voice almost split her eardrums.
And then, the girl lowered her voice after Clyde entered the car. “Don't worry, I didn't tell Daddy that I bruised my knee. He won't get mad at you.”
Violet sighed helplessly.
She never expected to end up in this kind of situation.
What was Clyde up to this time?
She had to talk him out of taking Mimi to the Amusement Park.
So as soon as they got inside the car, she opened her mouth to speak her mind and talk him out of whatever mischief he was up to,
But his phone rang instantly and he answered it. “Yes, I'm on my way. Make sure my daughter gets the best treatment. Yes. My wife will also be there.”
