Chapter 33 A Gold-digger

The security men's grips were too tight, giving her no room for movement.

Violet couldn't believe what was happening.

Were these people in their right minds?

How could they seize her just because she resembled someone who had stolen from them?

Wasn't it ridiculous?

“Hey, let me go! Let go!” She shouted.

But no one was listening to her screams. The customers scowled and the sales ladies looked ready to gang up against her as the bodyguards dragged her in a random direction.

As much as she struggled, Violet couldn't break free.

And added to the hunger in her stomach, she was suddenly lightheaded from the constant push and pull. “Let go of me!”

“Hey, Guys! Stop!” Suddenly, a loud voice sounded.

A plump middle-aged man dressed in a dark business suit appeared, striding towards them. “So you have caught the thief.”

“Yes, Manager. This lady looks exactly like her,” answered the bodyguards who immediately stopped walking.

The man approached, scrutinizing Violet from head to toe.

Shaking his head, he dropped both hands on his waist. “Indeed, it's you, Tasha. How dare you come back to this place?”

So the thief even had a name.

Who was Tasha?

“You know what, just leave her alone.” The Manager waved the security men off. “There's something I want to discuss with her.”

The bodyguards, as well as the sales ladies, exchanged glances.

The customers also looked confused.

But they unhanded her, and the moment they did so, the Manager caught her instead.

“Ah, stop!”

Violet's protests fell on deaf ears as the man pulled her away.

He took her all the way to what seemed like his office before slamming the door shut. “Natasha Harris, I know I didn't treat you well but don't keep coming to my workplace to look for trouble.”

Violet furrowed her brows.

Natasha Harris?

Why did that surname sound familiar?

Could it be…

“Come here, Tasha. We're not enemies yet. I promised you I'll fulfill my promise.” As the man spoke, he grabbed her arm, pulling her close. “And once I do, you'll still be my sweet little girl, right?”

Yuck!

Violet flinched away, disgusted by the man's advances.

She took several steps back, maintaining a long distance from him. “You've got the wrong person, Mister. I'm not the one you-”

“Haha! I know- I know!” The man interrupted her, his laughter reverberating inside the office. “You're up with your mischief again. I can't believe you almost deceived the security. Now be a good girl and come to Daddy. Remember that house I promised to buy for you.”

Who exactly was Tasha?

What kind of relationship did she have with this man?

Violet didn't know how else to convince the man.

She felt all uncomfortable standing in his presence.

And when she turned to leave,

Damnit! He'd locked the door.

“Baby girl, there's no way you'll leave this office until we bury the hatchet. I promise you my wife won't disturb you anymore.”

Ah!

Wasn't it funny that she found herself in this situation?

Violet always knew that Clyde's appearance would only mean bad luck for her.

Now because of him, she'd fallen into this messy situation. “Look, Mister-”

“Hehe! I told you to say no more, Babe. Just come here and state whatever you want.” The man smiled, his beady eyes pinned on her body.

Violet shivered from the disgusting look.

Convincing the man was useless, so she grabbed the door handle, tugging and pulling it.

The door didn't budge, and the man caught her off guard by suddenly grabbing her wrist.

“Well, Natasha. If you really want to end things between us, why come to my office to make trouble!?” He shouted, obviously annoyed by her desire to escape.

The man must be a maniac because his smile returned, and he tried to touch her. “I did everything for your greedy father. You can't just leave me without giving my reward-”

“Pak”

Violet's palm flew to his cheek and the impact had the man staggering away.

Holding his cheek, he gave her a murderous look. “You little slut! You must pay for this.”

He shot forward to grab her, but someone kicked the door open from the outside in time.

Violet jolted from the shock while the Manager stumbled onto the ground as a kick flew in his direction.

“Ah-Ah, my eyes!” The man screamed. “Who the hell did that!?”

The person who did that must be from hell itself as a deadly aura suddenly engulfed the room.

Violet gulped, her throat running dry at the sight of his intimidating presence.

Although he was dressed in a casual shirt and trousers, with a cap covering half his face, Clyde didn't look any less scary than he would be in one of his dark business suits.

He didn't spare a glance in her direction, focusing on the Manager who was rolling on the floor.

“This mall must be filled with incompetent staff. Do you even deserve to work here?” He scoffed.

The Manager looked confused.

Pressing a hand to one of his eyes, he staggered up from the floor. “What do you know? I was only teaching her a lesson for swindling money from me.”

“Really?” Finally, Clyde glanced her way, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “I never knew she knew a lot of people.”

“Ha! Her father is the greediest man in Metro City. You must be one of our rich customers, so I won't hold a grudge, Mister. But I must warn you about this filthy girl… she's a gold-digger, and…”

As the Manager blabbered on, Clyde's expression gradually became so dark, and the temperature inside the office dropped.
