Chapter 46 Blamed Her
~
Her devastation knew no bounds as the Doctors took hours inside the emergency room, treating her baby.
Violet was tired of walking back and forth.
She was tired of sobbing and regretting, knowing this was all her fault.
Her body's energy was rapidly declining. Yet, she couldn't give up.
She had to keep praying. Her baby had to be fine.
But the hours only increased without any sign from the emergency room.
The doctor didn't come out. The nurses who had been going in and out had stopped too.
Standing in front of the door, she reached out to push it open, her heart beating rapidly.
But the door was bolted.
Her baby was still in there. What was happening?
Suddenly, she teleported back to the Villa where she stood in front of the door that led to Mimi's bedroom.
Violet kept on knocking, calling out her baby's name desperately.
Her fingers were bruised from struggling with the doorknob. Her weakened knees were about to give out.
But then, she fell and someone caught her.
Violet fell against a hard chest, her senses threatening to leave her.
She squinted her eyes to see who was standing in front of her, the person who saved her,
However, his features were blurred. She couldn't see properly.
Yet, those indistinct features. They were so real and familiar.
Clyde!
Her heart pounded with his name, a new fear awakening inside it.
She struggled to free herself, but his hard grip only got tighter.
Violet didn't know why, but all her instincts told her to run from this man.
“Vi! Violet! Can you hear me? What's happening!?” A frantic voice resounded in her ears, cutting through the walls of her nightmare.
“Violet, please speak to me! You're creeping me out!”
That was Freya's voice.
While her best friend desperately called out her name, Clyde wouldn't let her go.
The reality blended with her nightmare, leaving Violet confused. And as she gradually returned to her senses, his strong grip on her disappeared.
“Damnit, Violet! What kind of a dream were you having just now?” Freya asked in a fearful tone.
Once Violet opened her eyes, she glanced around her surroundings.
The white walls and ceiling, her best friend sitting beside her, and the realization that she was lying on a hospital bed.
Violet sighed, relieved that the nightmare wasn't real.
Beads of perspiration covered her forehead and dampened her shirt. Eventually, her breathing returned to normal, and she patted her chest gently.
“Thank goodness you're alright.” Freya hugged her, sounding as if a heavy load had been lifted off her shoulder. “You scared the hell out of me, Vi.”
Violet returned the hug.
Right. She never thought she would ever wake up.
Thinking she would be trapped inside that nightmare, how devastating it was gonna be.
“The Doctor said you only fainted, but you were unconscious for hours. Didn't I tell you not to worry too much, Vi?” Freya scolded in a helpless tone. “Now see what has happened. That heartless man must be the cause, but your body was already weak.”
Wait…
Which heartless man?
Touching her forehead, Violet squeezed her eyes shut as a throbbing headache hit her.
It all began coming back. That nightmare was actually a part of her reality; the events that happened right before she fainted.
“Where's Mimi?” She sprang up, the impact causing a wave of dizziness to hit her.
Freya had to quickly support her to lay back down. “Mimi's in safe hands. The Doctor said she's fine. Now don't injure yourself, okay?”
Her baby was safe.
Closing her eyes, Violet murmured a silent word of gratitude.
She could recall the Doctor breaking that good news before she fainted.
Thank goodness!
“I want to see her.” She sat up this time carefully, letting Freya support her. “Please take me to her.”
The expression on her best friend's face changed instantly.
From a worried look to fear and then anger, Freya seemed as if she would erupt.
“Nobody's allowed to see her,” She muttered angrily. “Her Daddy's orders.”
“Huh?” Violet couldn't grasp it.
Why was nobody allowed to see her baby?
Was she still in a critical condition?
“Literally, the mighty Clyde Crawford thinks we are monsters!” Freya flared up. “Imagine him ordering the nurses to send me away when I went to check on Mimi.”
Oh, Clyde.
Violet's heart sank instantly.
She wasn't surprised a bit. That man had been deadly enraged before she lost consciousness.
He blamed her for Mimi's condition.
Although Violet blamed herself too, she wasn't gonna allow Clyde to stop her from seeing her baby.
“By the way, how did he become a medical doctor? I thought he was the President of CJ Group,” Freya expressed her confusion.
Well, that was a long story.
Violet didn't want to recall any of it right now as those memories also came along with their own heartbreak.
Maybe if she hadn't enrolled in that college, she wouldn't have met the young professor whom she'd taken an instant liking to.
A year later, she'd just graduated and was lucky to save his grandfather's life. And then he proposed to her.
She couldn't say no when he'd been her crush ever since.
“Violet…” Freya waved in front of her, bringing her back to reality. “Did you know he was a Doctor?”
Violet nodded and then sighed.
She changed the topic before Freya could probe her with more questions regarding Clyde. “I'll go check on Mimi. Can you take me there?”
“Are you sure her Daddy won't chase us away?” Freya said apprehensively.
Well, that was possible.
Also, “I'm her Mummy, remember?” Violet smiled.
With Freya's help, she left the ward and walked down the hallway to the emergency area.
They hadn't taken her out of the emergency room.
Hopefully, nothing was wrong.
“Hey, where's he taking her!?” Freya pointed out, exclaiming as Clyde suddenly came out of the ward, holding Mimi who was asleep against his shoulder.
The man was heading straight to the elevator-
No!
Violet stilled, her whole body going rigid, her heart pounding louder than ever.
She didn't need to ask. Clyde was taking Mimi away.
“Clyde!” Violet called out, her instincts prompting her movements as she quickly let go of Freya.
She caught up with the man just outside the elevator, panting heavily and struggling to catch her breath.
Disregarding the dark look on his face, Violet spilled out the first words that came to her mind. “I- I'll go with you.”
