Chapter 47 Game Over

At MJ Corporation.

Asher strolled around his office, circling the couch that sat on the corner.

His eyes accessing the wrapped boxes of gifts, a subtle smile formed on his lips.

He picked up the bouquet of roses and sniffed it, the gentle fragrance bringing a calming effect to his once anxious mind.

Violet would love this.

Honestly, who wouldn't?

Asher had outdone himself this time.

He couldn't imagine that instead of spending the whole day working and attending meetings, he invested all his time in picking out these gifts.

But it would all be worth it.

He couldn't wait to witness the smile on her face as she unwrapped these boxes and went through the gifts.

“Mr. Sydney, I must say that Ms. Hayes is lucky to have you.” James appeared with some document folders.

Staring at the gifts, he nodded in appreciation. “I just wonder how much you admire her.”

“A lot,” Asher admitted.

He'd always admired her ever since they met.

He must have had his own selfish intentions, but he'd never stare at any other woman.

Violet stole his heart right from the start.

If he didn't shower her with gifts, who else would?

“For Ms. Hayes' birthday party, I guess we'll invite all the employees over to shower her with love,” James suggested. “Besides, the employees are dying to meet your family again as rumors have circulated that you have a secret child.”

Asher sighed and dropped the bouquet, his mood dampening somehow.

How he wished that was true.

How he wished Mimi was actually his.

Wouldn't he and Violet have had a perfect life?

“The employees don't need to come,” He declined James’ offer. “Violet prefers her celebrations low-key.”

She'd always been doing things low-key ever since he could remember.

However, Asher had a feeling that her need for privacy became stronger ever since she returned.

A lot of things changed after that, including her cheerfulness and fearless attitude.

She transformed into a completely different woman when she returned,

A woman he still loved anyway.

“Get the bodyguards to transfer these gifts to my car,” He instructed.

After the assistant left, Asher glanced at his wristwatch.

The work hours were almost over. He couldn't wait to go back home.

Grabbing his suit jacket from the stand, he slipped it on and left the office.

If he went home early, he'd get the opportunity to eat dinner together.

And then,

He could apologize.

Asher sighed heavily, thinking back to his actions last night.

He never thought things would get to that.

He'd never expected that he'd ever lose control.

This new side of him scared the hell out of him. He'd scared her last night, forcing her to spill everything that happened between her and Clyde.

It turned out Clyde wanted her to follow him to IvoryHills City, and she didn't want to.

Asher shouldn't have gone too far. He shouldn't have forced her to open up when she'd already given him the assurance.

As the car drove down the city, he asked the driver to pull over in front of a confessionary shop.

After buying two large cups of ice cream, he also bought two boxes of pizza and some snacks.

If he arrived home very early, they might not even need the dinner.

Violet rarely ate this.

However, the few times he'd seen her eating snacks, he'd never missed the delight in her eyes.

Hopefully, tonight they would put her in a good mood.

Asher couldn't wait to state his request tonight. It was high time Violet moved into the master bedroom.

Heaven knew how hard he'd been struggling to control himself these days. Maybe that was part of the reason why he lost it last night.

All of a sudden, the journey back home was taking forever.

Tapping his feet anxiously on the ground, Asher urged the driver to be fast.

They finally arrived at the Villa Estates, and he couldn't help the frantic beating of his heart as the car drove inside the Villa.

The bright lights were blinding, and the sky was even brighter with millions of stars shining in it.

While the bodyguards moved the gift boxes to the guest room downstairs, Asher proceeded upstairs to his bedroom.

“M- Master…” The maid hurried over, giving him her signature fearful look.

She appeared to want to say something, but Asher didn't have time to listen.

Right now, he was in a hurry to meet Violet.

But first, he had to take care of something.

So he waved the maid off and proceeded to the master's bedroom.

After washing up and changing into his home clothes, he set up the room by changing the bed sheets as well as the curtains.

He could have the servants take care of this, but Asher didn't want to come off as too obvious.

All this was supposed to be a surprise for when Violet moved into his room tonight.

She must be in Mimi's room currently.

He'd check on them right after he was done.

Twenty minutes were enough for him to get the room looking neater and more inviting.

Asher appreciated his handiwork for some minutes, making sure nothing was out of place.

Then he left the bedroom and bumped into the maid once more.

How annoying she was becoming recently.

“What's the matter?” Frowning, he stared at her anxious expression.

The maid avoided his gaze, scratching the back of her neck. “I- I was wondering how the little Miss is doing. Has she regained consciousness, Master? Is she alright? I can see you didn't come back with them?”

What exactly was she spilling?

What little Miss?

Was she referring to Mimi?

Oh, right!

Asher couldn't believe that he'd almost forgotten about what happened in the morning.

He received that strange call from Freya that Mimi was sick.

However, “Aren't they home?”

Why was the maid asking why he didn't come back with them?

He'd called the doctor to come and have a look, and-

“They're not, Master.” The maid frowned as well. “Did you know that they left for the hospital?”

Asher was only more confused.

How could they leave for the hospital when he'd asked them not to?

What the hell were the bodyguards doing?

His good mood suddenly gave way to an uncontrollable rage. Asher pushed the maid aside to go see for himself, disregarding her yelps as she fell on the floor.

Mimi's room was empty!

Damnit!

He reached into his pocket and brought his phone out, fiddling with it as he dialed her number. She didn't answer it until after a few rings.

And the person who spoke wasn't Violet.

The voice he now hated the most sounded from the other end. “Asher Sydney, it's game over.”
