Chapter 74 Send Her Away

Violet woke up with a splitting headache the next morning.

Her eyelids felt heavy.

Her whole body was sore, a numbing feeling spreading across her chest.

What happened to her?

Where was she?

How did she end up here?

Looking around the bedroom, she frowned in confusion.

The more she struggled to recall, the more her headache increased.

The room looked familiar though.

Was she inside the mansion?

Where was Freya?

And her baby… wait a minute.

Violet gasped as it all began coming back.

The last time she saw Mimi was at a similar time. Was it yesterday?

No way!

Yesterday, she and Freya met Asher. Then they visited a restaurant, and then a mall before proceeding to the bar-

No!

Violet gasped, wrapping both arms around her.

Strange how she couldn't recall all that happened after that.

“Good morning, Young Miss…” A knock came from the door and the maid stepped inside, holding a tray with a bowl and some dishes on it.

“Oh, you're finally awake.” The maid smiled. “The Young Master ordered me to serve you breakfast in bed.”

The maid paused, blushing and looking down.

She giggled before dropping the tray on the bedside table.

Violet wondered what was funny, and why the young maid appeared giddy.

Her gaze fell on the bowl that contained a strange-looking soup.

“Oh, that's your hangover soup. The Young Master says you should drink it all.”

Urgh!

Violet must have gotten herself drunk.

That was probably why she couldn't recall anything.

The maid giggled again, turning to leave. But then, she paused and turned around. “Uhm, Young Miss… is it okay if I tell Mimi that she'll get a baby brother soon? The Little Young Miss will be happy.”

The maid didn't wait for her reply though.

She giggled again and fled off.

Wasn't she the same maid Clyde had pardoned?

Shaking her head, Violet touched her forehead.

Why would the maid make that silly assumption?

It mustn't be that…

Wait!

Violet yelped as a thought came to her mind.

She quickly lifted the blanket and checked out herself.

Her nightdress was intact.

But what if Clyde had-

No way!

Shaking her head firmly, Violet knew that was impossible.

If Clyde had touched her, she wouldn't even be able to lift her limbs.

Still, who changed her dress? It had to be the maid.

Letting go of those scary thoughts, Violet picked up the tray and placed it on her lap.

She ate the food, her heart pounding strangely.

Curiosity made her want to recall what exactly happened last night, but she couldn't remember a thing.

A while later after she was done eating, the maid returned to take the plates away.

“Uhm, Young Miss, the Young Master ordered me to let you know he's in the Old Master’s quarters. He said you should come soon because they want to discuss something important.”

Grandpa Luke’s quarters.

What were they going to discuss?

Violet was more wary than curious. But she nodded to the maid's words.

“Where's Mimi, by the way?” She asked, surprised that Mimi hadn't come to check on her despite not seeing each other throughout yesterday.

“Oh…” The maid looked sad immediately. “She's having breakfast with her Grandma. The Madam insists that the Little Young Miss stays in her quarters today.”

That was bad.

Violet didn't like the idea of Mimi spending the whole day with Clyde’s mother.

“The Madam loves her so much…” The maid went on as if sensing her worries. “I don't think she'll harm the Little Young Miss.”

Of course, Clyde's mother would never hurt Mimi.

Violet was just afraid that the woman would influence her.

After the maid left, she stood up and entered the bathroom.

Violet got ready.

As she was about to meet Grandpa, she wore a dress that aligned more with the family's rules.

She could spite Clyde's parents, but she didn't have the heart to do the same to his grandfather. After all, the old man had treated her with nothing but kindness.

As Violet left the building, heading to Grandpa Luke's quarters, she sighted Freya's figure sitting not far from the water fountain.

Her best friend appeared so lonely and deep in thought that Violet couldn't help but worry.

“Freya-”

“Oh my goodness!” Freya jolted then she patted her chest. “Can you at least knock, Vi?”

“There's no door.” Violet glanced around, helpless. “What's bugging you?”

Freya's expression shifted from worry to anger though.

Violet could swear she was even blushing.

“I- I, well… If a servant reports someone in this place, does that person get punished?”

Violet narrowed her eyes.

Where was her best friend heading?

“What did you do, Freya?”

“W- Well…” Freya scratched the back of her neck. “L- Let's just say that I did it unintentionally. Remember that waiter guy, Vi- I- I made a pass at him, I did the unthinkable last night and…”

Violet gasped. “No, you didn't!”

“It was the alcohol!” Freya looked as if she'd cry. “I- I didn't mean it. I'm so ashamed right now. I literally forced myself on that poor guy.”

Violet didn't know what to say.

Seriously, she was also afraid for her best friend.

That guy could report her to the authorities.

What if…

What if the Cops suddenly barge in here?

She began hurrying away, leaving Freya looking flabbergasted.

“Hey, where are you going!?”

“We don't know each other!” Violet shouted, walking as fast as she could.

Well, she would come to her best friend's rescue later, but Freya had to reflect more on her actions first.

Seriously, she couldn't help but pity that handsome waiter guy.

When Violet arrived at Grandpa Luke's quarters, she headed straight to the garden where the old man loved hanging out every morning.

Clyde sat across from him, pouring him a cup of tea.

They must be having a deep conversation as the Old Man looked serious.

As Violet approached, her ears caught some of the conversation, and she couldn't help but halt in her tracks.

“Grandson, listen to me. My great-granddaughter is very smart and I know she'll perform excellently in school. Let Grandpa make the preparations to send her away to the elite school abroad.”
