Chapter 36.

As he was being dragged out of the office, Harris kept shouting that it wasn't the end.

What will the idiot do?

Absolutely nothing.

No one can trespass on my territory to do whatever they like, especially people like Harris and Jessy.

“The next time he comes here, make sure you call the security on him.”

The secretary bobbed her head and left.

Phhhh.

A WEEK LATER

For the past week, I've heard from Kylie that Dad is still admitted to the hospital.

Even though it isn't the first time Dad’s illness flared up, this is the first time it is happening because of me.

I feel so guilty and wish he would allow me to see him even once.

“What's up, sis? Were you able to talk to Dad about me?”

I asked Kylie as soon as I got off work that day.

“Yes, and he has agreed to see you. Come quick, Blair, before he changes his mind.”

Ahh

Thank goodness!

Finally.

“Thank you so much, sis, I will be right there.”

Instead of returning home first, I decided to go to the hospital to see him.

I really missed my Dad so much,

And I know he would never be upset with me for so long.

Phhh

As soon we I arrived at the hospital, I proceeded to the VIP ward where he was admitted.

Dad was seated on the bed when I entered the room with a smile on my face.

“What are you doing here?”

Uhn?

Wasn't he the one who told me to come over?

“I said What are you doing here?”

This is confusing.

“Dad, I came to see you.”

“And who says you can come see me? Didn't the doctor tell you I don't want to see you anymore?”

Did Kuylie lie to me about this?

Or she just wanted me to come so I could apologize to Dad?

Hmmm

She shouldn't have lied to me.

“Get out of here now, I don't want to see you.”

“But why, Dad? Is it because of what happened?”

He scowled.

“If you were in my shoes, you would have done worse than that. You have no idea what I am passing through. And the least you could do is give me a word of encouragement like you've always done. Don't be like this.”

“You have no idea what you are doing, Blair. You know what? If you aren't going to return to your husband’s house, do not come to me.”

Really?

Like seriously?

“Fine then.”

I said and left the room.

If that is what he wants, then he would wait until I've decided to return to Frederick.

“How did it go?”

Kylie asked as soon as I stepped out of the room.

At that point, I wanted to smack her for lying to me, but I restrained myself.

She only did that out of concern.

“Thank you for embarrassing me, Kylie.”

She sighed deeply.

“I am so sorry, Blair, I thought Dad would listen to you.”

Hmm

“It's fine. Where is Desmond?”

“He was here a few minutes ago. Maybe he has gone back home.”

And mum?

I haven't seen her since I arrived.

“Blair, do you want me to go talk to Frederick?”

Uhn?

What would she talk to him about?

Funny.

“Forget it.”

I opened the car door.

“Frederick will come looking for me very soon.”

She raised a brow surprised.

“He was the one who sent you away. Or is it because he loves you that he will come looking for you?”

“Sure.”

She sighed again and hugged me.

“I missed you so much, Sis.”

Awn,

I missed her too.

“Can you give me your address? I will come visit soon.”

Is that a good idea?

“I am afraid Mum will force you to give her the address.”

Since she understood, Kylie agreed to that.

“It's okay, Blair.”

And there she comes.

As soon as I saw Mum, I entered the car and drove away.

But when I looked inside the rearview mirror, I saw her following me in her car.

Great!

I know she won't rest today until she finds out where I stay.

What does this woman really want from me?

Ohhhh.

To lose her, I took the route uptown, but when I looked in the mirror again, she was still following me.

I kept speeding off for five minutes and when I checked again, she wasn't trailing me.

Thank goodness.

I parked the car in front of a gas station to have my tank refilled,

And as soon as I stepped out of the car, someone grabbed my hand.

“Mum?”

My eyes widened in shock.

How did she find me?

“You think I will never find you, right?”

She pulled me away from the car.

“Now you tell me where you live, you ingrate!”

Ingrate?

Why am I an ingrate?

And there is no way I will give her the address.

“You should be thankful to me for bringing you out of that house, but you chose to run away from me. Why?”

Why?

Funny.

“Because you have just ruined my happiness. I love my husband so much, but you…”

“Shut it!”

She shushed me.

“How could you say something as stupid as that?”

What is stupid in what I said?

I love my husband, and that is a fact.

“You know what? You are going home with me.”

“No, I am not going back there. Dad doesn't want to see me so, I am happy where I am now.”

She hissed loudly.

“Your Dad is an all-words-and-no-action person. Just leave him to me and return to your house. I am your Mum and I will protect you.”

Really?

Hahahaha.

“Are you my mum now? And you also want to protect me? This is kind of funny.”

“Stop that nonsense and let's go home.”

Well, since I couldn't break off easily from her, I decided to play along.

“Fine, I will go. But in my car.”

She released my hand and returned to my car.

As soon as Mum entered her car too, I sped out of the gas station and lost her.
