Chapter 41.

“You guys are so shameless!”

He shrieked and stumbled out of the room.

You haven't seen anything yet, Harris.

Hahahahaha

Frederick lay beside me, stroking my hair gently.

How I have missed this moment so much.

And I am so glad we are back together.

I really love my man so much.

“Is there anything you will want me to do for you, little dove?”

And here we go.

“Of course, baby. But I don't want to decide, you know what is best.”

He chuckled softly, kissed my forehead, and got up from the bed.

“I will think about it thoroughly.”

He said and entered the bathroom.

Phew.

ONE MONTH LATER

With the baby growing in me and my belly button already showing in my dress, I decided to visit my parents.

Since I returned to Frederick’s house, none of them has known about it.

Frederick must have warned the broadcasting companies not to meddle in his family matters,

Because it isn't even on the news that I have returned to his house like when I left.

Well, that is even better and I love it that way.

“Are you sure you want to go alone?”

He asked for the third time after I dressed up.

“Sure, baby,”

I don't know why he has been asking about it repeatedly, he even looks so worried.

“I am afraid your mum will stop you from coming back.”

Oh,

No wonder he is worried.

But that is nonsense.

Mum can never stop me from returning home,

She can't control my life anymore,

I know what is best for me.

“Hey, do not worry about that, baby.”

I hold his hand.

“Are you sure?”

I bobbed my head and released his hand.

“I will be back in two hours, but if I don't return, then come get me.”

I said, even though I know it is impossible.

Frederick finally let me go, but he insisted on walking me to the car.

When I arrived at my parents’ place, I adjusted my gown so it would curve out my shape.

And luckily, I was wearing a stretchy bodycon gown.

Dad was in the living room reading a magazine when I entered,

But he didn't lift his head to see who had just entered.

“Good day, Dad.”

He grumbled, but paused as if he was trying to process the voice.

He lifted his head from the magazine and a frown appeared on his face.

“What do you want here?”

He asked, scanning me from head to toe in anger.

“Come on, Dad, chill.”

I gasped and sat on the sofa facing him.

“You haven't seen your favorite daughter for more than a month now, you didn't care to check how she is faring.”

He folded the magazine, removed his glasses, and hissed.

“Blair, I am not in for any inconvenience you come with. If there is nothing important you seek here, kindly leave.”

He pointed at the door.

Hmm

Who would have ever thought Dad would one day not want to see me?

Ahhh.

“Dad, I am so sorry for everything that has happened,”

“Just leave already, okay?”

He stood up to go, but I quickly grabbed his hand.

“Dad, please listen to me.”

When he didn't say anything, I went on.

“I got back with Frederick.”

He turned around swiftly.

“You did what?”

A loud noise came from the stairs.

I ignored Mum, while focusing on Dad.

“Frederick took me back to his house a month ago, Dad. I didn't inform you guys because I wanted to settle down first before letting you guys know.”

The frown on his face disappeared and it was replaced with a proud smile of a Dad to his child.

It was when he smiled that I realized how much I had missed that comforting smile.

“Are you telling me the truth right now?”

He asked, placing his hand on my shoulder.

“Yes, Dad.”

“That is good, baby, you made the right choice.”

And now we are talking.

I will always be his baby girl.

From now on, I will make sure I refrain from doing anything that will make my Dad lose interest in me.

“You fool!”

Mum motioned to grab my hand, but I stepped away and she staggered forward.

She would have succeeded in pushing me if I hadn't stepped away from her.

And what will I say to Frederick if I lose the baby?

No way,

I need to protect myself.

“How could you betray your own mother this way?”

Uhn?

Betrayal?

I didn't do that.

“Laurene, leave this girl alone. She followed her heart because she loves that man a lot. What is your problem?”

She threw her handbag on the sofa and clasped her palms.

“Don't you realize what you've done to me? All my friends will laugh and make a jest of me, Blair. When I thought I would find peace, you've turned things upside down for me!”

She shouted angrily.

“You know what? You will leave that marriage as long as I breathe.”

Whoa!

Is it that serious?

“Dad, please, talk to your wife, I love my man so much, and I don't want to live without him.”

Dad nodded his head and turned to her.

“If you don't leave this girl alone, I promise you will end up leaving my house.”

She gasped.

“Because of your wretched daughter?”

What da!

“Dad, it’s okay.”

I calmed him down because Mum will hate me more if he keeps talking to her about me.

And since Mum wouldn't stop ranting, I decided to break the news.

“Mum, Dad?”

They both turned to me, but that didn't stop Mum from cursing.

“I am pregnant.”

She froze, then followed the movement of my hand to my tummy.

And when she saw the belly button, her eyes widened in shock.

“What!”

She exclaimed shockingly.

“Congratulations, baby. Come here.”

Dad hugged me tightly, raining praises on me,

While Mum was cursing at the top of her voice.

“This can't be possible! No, no!”

She screamed and ran out of the living room.
