I Married My Ex-fiance’s Father
Chapter 42.
Chapter 42
“Are you really pregnant?”
Desmond asked as soon as he got down the stairs.
He must have heard mum’s scream which prompted him to come check what that was.
“Yes.”
I giggled and his expression brightened.
“Are you for real? OMG!”
He covered his mouth while walking towards me.
“Blair?”
He gently touched my belly, and I placed his hand on the hard part.
“A baby is in there?”
His eyes widened in shock.
“Of course, you are going to be an uncle.”
He hugged me too, laughing happily.
Then the drama queen arrived, carrying shopping bags.
“Blair is here!”
She threw the bags away and jumped on me.
“Easy, squirrel,”
Dad called out.
“There is a baby in there.”
Desmond added.
She was confused at first,
But as soon as she understood what they meant, her eyes also broadened in shock.
“For real?”
As soon as I nodded my head, tears accumulated in her eyes.
“Blair?”
She let out a cry and gently hugged me.
“Congratulations, Blair, you are finally carrying a baby.”
Awn,
Kylie’s cry flared up my tear glands, and I couldn't control them from flowing.
This immersive love is what I needed, and I am grateful to be getting it from the people who love me.
How would I ever forget them in my life?
“Dad?”
Kylie released me and held Dad’s hands,
“Please, forgive Blair. Do not resent her anymore.”
She cried to him.
Dad blinked, drew her into his embrace, and patted her back gently.
“I only wanted the best for Blair and she has done what I want so, I have forgiven her.”
She lifted her head and sniffled.
“What was that?”
She asked.
“She has returned to her husband.”
Kylie turned to me and I nodded to her.
“OMG!”
She exclaimed.
“That is great news!”
Because I've missed my family so much, two hours wasn't enough for me to catch up on the good times with them, so I had to call Frederick. I won't be coming home early.
“That is fine, my regards to your family, and do not stay out late.”
He said.
“Alright, baby. Love you.”
“I love you too, take care.”
—-
“So that was it?”
Kylie shook her head after I told them what the doctor said.
“That doctor is a poker-nose. He should have made his investigation first before informing Frederick about the miscarriage.”
Desmond fumed.
“Well, that is all in the past. What matters now is for me to be careful.”
“Yes, that is true.”
A few minutes later, Mum came down the stairs.
Her eyes were so red, perhaps, it was from crying.
I felt for her,
But I still don't understand why she doesn't like my marriage to Frederick.
Is there a hidden secret she is hiding from me?
She glared at me,
Went inside the kitchen and after a few seconds,
She returned with a glass of water.
“Here, take this.”
I was surprised when she handed me the water.
“You have been here for more than an hour, but no one has offered you anything.”
That is true.
But why is she so caring now?
“Thanks, Mum.”
My siblings were as confused as I was by Mum’s sudden change.
“Do not drink that!”
Dad shouted from the stairs.
Uhn?
“She poisoned it!”
What!
I released the cup and it shattered on the floor.
She poisoned it?
What da!
“Mum, why?”
Desmond asked shockingly.
“Wouldn't it be better if she died so I can live peacefully?”
She burst into tears and ran away.
Has it gotten to this?
“Blair, I am sorry to say, but you will have to stop coming here until you deliver your baby. I don't trust Laurence anymore. And I promise you, she will never set foot in your house.”
Great!
“This is serious!”
Kylie gasped.
“How can Mum do this?”
She added.
“Isn't she the one who gave birth to Blair?”
Desmond asked.
And that piqued my curiosity too.
“Of course, she gave birth to her. She is your real mum.”
He sighed deeply.
“Blair?”
Dad held my hand and I got up from the sofa.
“Please do not take this to heart. She only cares for you, okay? Do not look at it in another way. It is just a mother’s love for her child.”
Seriously?
Why does this feel strange?
It is either that she is hiding something from me, or she isn't my real Mum.
“Your siblings will keep coming to your place no matter what, okay?”
Hmm
I hope she doesn't stop them.
For the rest of the hours I spent in that house, Dad stayed in the living room with us.
And when I wanted to go to the bathroom, he escorted me to my former room and stood outside the door so Mum wouldn't hurt me.
He was the one who also made our lunch, and dinner because he didn't trust the cook either.
Who knows, Mum might have ordered her to poison me, and because she is scared of Mum, she wouldn't hesitate to carry out the order.
And when it was time for me to leave, Dad said he would drive me home.
However, Frederick showed up, and that gave him relief.
“Mr.Frederick, I want you to resist Blair from coming to this house until she gives birth.”
Oh, Dad,
I didn't want Frederick to know about that.
Arrgh.
“Well understood, Mr. Reece. And trust me, my little dove will be taken good care of.”
Dad bobbed his head and they shook hands.
“Protect my baby, please.”
Dad said to him as soon as we were inside the car.
“Trust me, Mr. Reece, I won't let you down.”
“Bye, Blair, take care of yourself and our baby,”
Kylie waved.
“We will come visit you often.”
Desmond added.
They kept waving to us until we lost sight of them.
“Your mum got angry, right?”
Frederick asked and I nodded my head.
He drew closer to me and wrapped his arms around my shoulder.
“Do not worry, okay? With time, everything will be back to normal.”
I hope so.
