Chapter 21

And to say, she was only talking to the ladies that way and not the guys. Sterling knew she did that so the ladies would she was his girlfriend and to stay away from him.

“I tink you should go home now.” he said to her as soon as they stepped inside the office.

“No, I don’t want to go home. And besides, there is no one at home to keep me company.” she sat on the sofa.

“Then you should go hang out with your friends.” Sterling suggested again.

But she didn’t want to leave. And the way he was talking to her, she didn’t like it. She wasn’t a stranger that he wouldn’t feel comfortable with.

“Just go already, Isabella. I don’t need you here, you are getting on my way.” he raised his voice.

“What do you mean by that, Sterling? I’m not getting in your way and I don’t remember doing anything that would make me get in your way.” she scoffed.

Sterling sighed deeply, he didn’t want to show her his anger. And that would only be possible if she would heed to his order and leave. But Isabella didn’t want to leave, she didn’t even look like she would leave any time soon.

“I have never insulted my employees before, Isabella.” he said when he couldn’t just control his anger anymore.

“Oh no wonder they do whatever they like in this company. I’m not surprise.” she shook her head.

“And that’s why you have no right to tell them what to do, Isabella!”

She understood where that was going. Sterling was angry with her because of what she said to the ladies.

“And why are you angry because of that? Is there anything between you and your employees that you are hiding from me?” she asked him but Sterling didn’t say a word to her. Isabella stood up from the sofa and went to where he was standing.

“Tell me, Sterling. Just tell me there’s nothing between you and them.” she pointed at the door.

She must be out of her mind. Sterling scoffed inside before sitting on the chair. Even if he would have anything to do with his employees, would it be all of them?

“I’m talking to you, Sterling.” she snapped her fingers.

But he didn’t even answer her. Rather, he picked up his phone and sent a message to Assistant Li to come to the office.

“Mr, Hawthorn, here I am.” Li bowed his head.

Sterling then glanced at him then he bowed his head again. He understood the message.

“Isabella, let’s go home. Your time is up here,” Isabella hissed loudly.

Her time there wasn’t up and it would never be. She went on her own will and she would leave on her own will.

“I’m not leaving, not done here.” she snapped at him.

Sterling, seeing that she won’t leave stood up from the chair and made his way out of the office.

She wanted to follow him but Assistant Li blocked the way.

( I can only act]

It has been more than two weeks since Marcus came to the house. Vivienne didn’t hear any feedback from him again. She tried to call him but his phone has been off.

Maybe he won’t help her anymore, or maybe something happened to him.

But Vivienne’s mind has concluded he didn’t want to help her. If it was her, she wouldn’t have helped him either after what she did to him.

He even tried by going to see her in her place.

“Oh God!” she sighed deeply.

What would she do if he doesn’t help her? She can only act, she doesn’t know any other business again.

Even though she was still receiving money from the industry, she still needed a sustainable job.

What if she decides to start a business but failed? How would she even start it?

Her phone beeped and she hurried picked it up thinking it was a message from Marcus.

But it was an alert of her royalty from the industry. She sighed and dropped the phone.

“Payday,” she sighed again. “What should I do now. I can’t go out there in search of him, I can’t even go to that company.” She stamped her feet on the floor.

Did they rejected her when Marcus brought her topic up? Vivienne couldn’t even think of anything. But wouldn’t it be like a bad thing if they rejected her?

She has been working with them for years and only got to leave there when she got married.

She brought fame and wealth to the company too. She thought they would accept her as soon as Marcuse brought her topic up but it was taking long to get a feedback from him.

She glanced at her phone which was sitting on the table in front of her. Something crossed her mind and she picked it up.

“I’m calling him to know what’s up.” she dialed his number and luckily. It rang. She called again and again but Marcus didn’t answer the call.

“I’ll keep trying.” she called again for the sixth time but he didn’t answer her call and so, she decided to send him a text.

“Just tell me what my fate is.” she gasped and clicked on send.

She awaited his reply but got none. Vivienne dropped the phone on the sofa and shook her head. If not because of Sebastian, she would have been working in the industry by now.

But would she blame? Herself. If she hadn’t marry that jerk, she would have been the most popular actress as at then. But because she was so desperate to get married to Sebastian, she ruined her own life.

Maybe if she was raised up by her parents, then… speaking of her parents, she remebered that bitch that called herself her sister.

“Seraphina!” she clenched her fist. “I’m going to make that girl regret what she did to me. Not only her, but everyone that thinks they can ruin my life.”

She stood up from the living room to get something to eat. Sitting in front of that phone wouldn’t yield her any good result because she knew Marcus wasn’t going to call her or to reply to her messages.

He too has joined the team that didn’t want to see her succeed in life. If that’s the case, then she would strive for herself. And if it’s to go to that company to see the president by herself, she would go.

Standing up for yourself sometimes is better than depending on people. Had it been she went to the president directly, she would have gotten his response since that day.

And if he agreed she works for them, she would have started appearing in movies by then.

As she navigate through her problems in the kitchen, she heard a knock from the door.

She thought the knock was from the people living next door to her. But when she stepped out of the kitchen, she discovered the knock was from her door.

“Who could that be?” she wondered, looking at the door. No one knew she lived there except Marcus. Or was that Marcus? She put down the cup of coffee in her hand and hurried to the door.

When she opened it, it was Marcus. Vivienne heaved a sigh of relief. Marcus was really at her house? She couldn’t believe it.

“You finally decided to come, right?” she folded her arms.

Marcus sighed, he didn’t even know what to say to her but he had to let her know what was going on.

But first, he went inside the living room, sat down on the sofa and took in a deep breath.

She didn’t know, but he was coming straight from Sterling’s company where he went to see him to talk to him about going back to the company.

But Sterling didn’t even want to listen to him and he sent him away.

When he came out, that was when he saw her calls and messages. Marcus promised he would go back to the company the next day to try out his luck again.

He wanted thing to go smoothly first before telling Vivienne what was happening. But seeing her message and what she wrote, he decided to just go se her and then tell her what was happening.

“Can you get me something to eat, please?” he requested from her.

Vivienne scoffed. He came to her house just to eat? Nevertheless, she went to the kitchen and got him a cup of tea and slices of bread.

“Is this what you eat now as food?” he was surprise. Of course not, that want what she eat as food but that was the only think she could offer him at that moment.

“Are you going to eat that or not?” she asked. Trying to retrieve it back.

“I’ll eat.” he scoffed and started eating.

As Marcus ate, he thought of how he was going to tell Vivienne about the vote and what he was doing for he at that moment.

But then, she interrupted his thought and started pleading with him to help her life.

“Please Marcus, you are the only one that knows what I am going through right now and the only person that cam help me get out of this.”

She moved closer to him on the sofa.

“Please Marcus, help me get back to that industry. I really need to get back in to acting. That is the only thing I can do,”

Marcus sighed, he put down the cup of tea on the table in front of him and smiled at her.

His heart melted when she was pleading with him to help her. No one would look in to her eyes and refuse to help her. She has that innocent look that everyone would wish to give her whatever she wants.

For a second, Marcus forgot that he wanted to tell her what was happening and he found himself assuring her that he would get her back in to the industry.

“Are you serious right now?” she asked him in excitement. “Of course yes, Vivienne dear. Don’t worry, I’m still working on that and very soon, I’ll give you the feedback.” he said.

“But what’s that you are working on? Can you tell me please?” she asked him but he wouldn’t.

How could he even tell her something which he wasn’t even sure would come true?

“It is a surprise, Vivienne. And trust me, you are going to lick my shoes in appreciation when the time comes.”

“Eww!” she covered her nose. Marcus laughed at her. He missed the way she was always acting when they were still together in the industry.

[Are you married?]

As their conversation deepened, Vivienne asked him about his family. But the look on Marcus face showed him he wasn’t even married yet.

“I’m not married,” he said. But she was surprised. How was he still single even after a year? She knew Marcus had a crush on him back then and when he found out Sebastian was the man she was going to marry, he became so upset.

There were certain times he would talk to her that he loved her but she would laugh it off thinking he was only playing around with her.

Marcus wasn’t a bad person, he was the nicest person she has ever come across in her life. She would have agreed to date him and even get marry to him if she knew marrying Sebastian wouldn’t yield her any positive result.

But she didn’t even love him, she only treated him nicely because he was her manager.

“Are you wiling to marry me now that you are divorced?” he teased her.

But she laughed it off.

“What would you do with a second hand person? You won’t even mention marriage to me after I tell you what Sebastian has reduced me to.” he chuckled.
