Chapter 25

He would never forget those people because he went to their company with Sterling. But what did they do to Mr. Hawthorn?

“You know Vivienne didn’t win the vote right?” he nodded his head again.

“You know how desperate Mr. Hawthorn wanted them to vote for her, right?”

Mike sighed deeply. He was already tired of the questions and needed him to juts talk to him directly.

“Can you just go straight to the point? I’m so anxious to hear this.” he gasped.

Assistant Li scoffed inside. Shouldn’t he just listen to him first?

“You see why I have been enjoying staying here alone? I didn’t even miss your absence.” he walked away but Assistant Mike hurried after him and grabbed his hand.

There was no way he would let that slip by.

“I’m so sorry, just tell me what it is.” he pleaded.

Assistant Li sighed. He looked at everywhere to make sure no one was coming because he didn’t want any one to hear what had just happened to their boss. If not, news would start flying around the whole place.

“People aren’t to be trusted, Assistant Mike. If it was someone that told me this was going to happened to Mr. Hawthorn, I wouldn’t have believed the person. But it happened right in front of me.” he shook his head.

Assistant Mike sighed inside. He only wanted to know what exactly happened but Assistant Li was beating around the bush.

“They didn’t vote for Vivienne.” he finally let out.

“They didn’t what!” Assistant Mike exclaimed. Why wouldn’t they vote for her? They voted for her that was why they were giving the contracts each.

“It was all to just get on Mr. Hawthorn’s good list, Mike. We went to the hotel today because Mr. Hawthorn wanted to take a rest there before coming to the company…”

“But then, he came out from the room and went to the room next to his. He heard the business men talking about him in the other room and they were all shocked to see him.” he shook his head again.

“Oh my God!” Assistant Mike exclaimed. “They did what! I can’t believe this.” he gasped.

He didn’t know there would be any one that would play tricks with their Boss that way. How could they even think about that.

“And what is Mr. Hawthorn going to do with them?” Mike was curious as he already knew Sterling wouldn’t spare them for lying to him.

“Well…” he tapped the papers still in his hand. “He made them sign this. A contract termination paper.”

Assistant Mike chuckled. That was the biggest punishment their Boss could give someone.

“That’s why I love the boss so much. He always finds way to punish those that wronged him. See? These people just played with their chance of becoming the top business men in the county.” Mike nodded his head.

“And to even think that they have started receiving profit shares from this company. It is their loss and a very big congratulations to them.” they both laughed.

“And what stopped you from coming over to the company yesterday?” he asked Mike who seemed to be avoiding the question. But what was he going to do if not to tell Li? He knew Sterling would ask him that too.

And lying to him is just like pushing yourself in trouble.

“Li? I am doomed!” he held his head with both of his hands. Li raised a brow. Doom? How? What was wrong? He found that funny but he decided to hear the rest to know if he should laugh or not.

“What happened?” Li asked him.

The both of them seemed to have forgotten that Sterling was waiting for them in his office.

“After I dressed up to come to the company yesterday, a call came in to my phone…” he took a pause.

“What type of a call? Did something bad happened?” Li asked.

“Yes, Li. Something terrible happened. I don’t even know the word to use for that.”

Li didn’t say anything to make him say anything fast even though he wanted him to say that fast.

“The call was from that girl I was telling you the other day.” Li’s eyes brightened up. “Really?” he asked and Mike nodded his head.

“What happened to her? Is she sick?” Li asked.

“If she is sick, then it would have been better.” Li was confused. How would it be better when someone is sick? That is bad.

“Stop saying that, Mike. It isn’t proper to wish someone bad thing you know.”

Mike knew but in that situation, that was the only thing he could wish for.

“So tell me what the call was about.” Li started counting the papers as he waited for Mike to say something.

“That girl is pregnant.” he announced.

Assistant Li froze. Pregnant? That was indeed a shocking news.

“And worse, she went straight to my parents to inform them. My mum called me as soon as she told them and started yelling at me over the phone.” he sat down on the stairs helplessly.

“O my God!” Li exclaimed.

“That girl is pregnant? What are you going to do now, Mike? Would you take her in or run away?” Li asked him worriedly.

“I would have ran away if I had the chance, Li. But that girl is just so soft and she likes me a lot. More than I even do. I just have no other choice than to marry her. After all, that’s what she has always wanted.” he sighed deeply.

“So sorry about that, Mike.” Li patted his shoulder.

“But if you had controlled yourself, that wouldn’t have even happened. You said you don’t love her but you went ahead to impregnate her, who does that?”

“And here we go again. And is this the right time for you to say this? You are unbelievable.” Mike hissed.

“Yea, that’s your problem. And wait till I tell Mr. Hawthorn what you did.” Li turned around to leave but Mike grabbed his elbow hurriedly.

“You dare not do this.” he pointed a finger at him.

“Or what? What are you going to do?” Li compressed his eyes.

“Nothing.” Mike released him. “Just don’t tell him, please.” he pleaded.

[Introducing a new department]

Sterling wondered what the Assistant was doing outside for so long now that he hasn’t gone to report to him if the partners of the company were already present in the company for the meeting or not.

And as he was about to give a call to him, the both of them entered the office. When he saw Assistant Mike, Sterling remembered he wanted to call him that day to ask what stopped him from coming to the company the previous day.

“I’m so sorry, Mr. Hawthorn, something held me back at home that was why I didn’t come yesterday.” he apologized.

“And what stopped you from calling or texting?” Assistant Li asked him. Assistant Mike frowned, he just wished Assistant Li shouldn’t ask what that was in front of Sterling because he already knew what Li was up to.

“Because my phone wasn’t with me.” he said.

Sterling wasn’t interested in their conversation. They can do that outside or waited till he was out of their sight.

“What I ordered you to do.” Sterling interrupted them.

“Oh, that has been taken care of, Mr. Hawthorn. And they have start arriving already.” Assistant Li smiled proudly. He didn’t even mention that Assistant Mike helped him out.

“Then we will leave.” Sterling left the chair and they followed him out of the office.

Everyone was already present in the meeting hall waiting for his arrival so they would start the meeting.

As soon as he entered, they all stood on their feet and bowed their heads to him in respect. Sterling sat down and they all returned back to their respective chairs.

The hall went silent as everyone was waiting for the next person to say something. But that was an urgent meeting and Sterling should be the one to address them.

Sterling too was waiting for someone to say something forgetting that he was the one that gathered everyone there.

“Mr. Hawthorn?” Assistant Li lowered himself. “They are waiting for you to address them.” he whispered to him.

Because he wasn’t the type that talk all the time, Sterling was used to not addressing the people first. But now, no one knew why he gathered them including his assistants.

So, it was left for him to do the talk and let everyone listen.

Sterling cleared his throat and all eyes turned to him, waiting eagerly for him to announce what was so important.

Others have started thinking that he wanted to send them away from the company because of their mistakes while others thought he wanted to talk about the business men that he cancelled the contracts with.

“I’m introducing a new department in the company.” he started.

A new department? They exchanged glances. What new department was that? They already has enough departments in the company. Even the ones that aren’t present in other companies.

They didn’t now why Sterling kept introducing new department to the company every year. But it has been more than two years that he last added a new department to the company.

“Uhm… Mr. Hawthorn, what department is it now?” one of the business men asked and the others nodded their heads.

They were all eager to know so that they would plead with him to make them the manager of the department.

Anyone that is lucky among them was always made the head of the department being introduced to the company.

“An entertainment department.” Sterling announced.

An entertainment department? That was a good one. They didn’t know that one day, Sterling would add that in to his company too. Entertainment industry was the big deal in the city at that moment.

“Wonderful! Mr. Hawthorn.” they all agreed with his decision. They always did because his decision in the company was always a good one and no one has ever oppose him before.

Both Assistant Mike and Li also exchanged glances. No one had to tell them why Sterling introduced that department because they already knew it was because of that actress.

Since PURE HEART ENTERTAINMENT won’t take her back, then it was up to him to create an entertainment industry just for her.

“I’ll handle the broadcasting of this wonderful news.” the head of the news department announced.

“And ill take care of the marketing when the name comes out.” another one added.

“But who is going to be the head of this department, Mr. Hawthorn? We know that Mr. Hawthorn already have someone in mind.”

They were right. Sterling already has someone in mind and the person wasn’t among them all. He was none other than Marcus, Vivienne’s manager.

That dude knew a lot of things about the entertainment industry and he would take care of it perfectly.

“Go bring Marcus here.” Sterling instructed Assistant Mike as soon as he called off the meeting.

He didn’t want them to waste time in launching that department. He wanted to show Sebastian that he was capable to do whatever he wants in that company.

Since Sebastian brainwashed the business men not to vote for Vivienne, then let’s see how he was going to stop the people from watching Vivienne’s videos from his company.

He went back to his office to await Marcus arrival. Sterling already sent Assistant Li to go prepare the contract for Marcus as the head of the entertainment department.

When Marcus saw Assistant Li in the company, he was surprised. Because he didn’t expect anyone from that Sterling’s company would come looking for him.

“Mr. Hawthorn wants you in his presence right now.” Marcus gulped down. He wanted Assistant Li to tell him why Sterling wanted to see him but he dint tell him and instead, he dragged him to the car and drove him out of the company.
