Chapter 35

“Please get something for Mr. Hawthorn.” She instructed Lia who has also came out to greet Sterling.

As Lia walked away, Assistant Mike also left the apartment.

“Hope you’re enjoying your stay here?” Sterling asked her, scanning the living room with his eyes.

“Oh yes, Mr. Hawthorn. I was planning on going to see your personally and thank you for taking care of me. This place is so beautiful and the people you employed for me are all wonderful.”

But that was except Assistant Li who she never even saw in a day.

“I’m glad you like it here, Ms. Vivienne.” He picked up the document sitting beside him.

“Here’s the document for your first movie in my company. I hope to get a positive give from you.”

Vivienne took it from him, trying to control her shaky hands out of excitement.

She couldn’t believe she was holding another document for her movies again.

What she has been waiting for so long.

“Of course Mr. Hawthorn. Trust me, I’m going to make you proud,” she giggled.

( She’s your Boss and you must respect her)

Assistant Mike’s eyes caught Assistant Li sitting on the bench in front of the rose flowers far away from the apartment.

His face brightened up and he went straight there.

“Li?” He tapped him from the back, startling Assistant Li.

“What’s wrong with you, you startled me,” Li gasped.

Assistant Mike chuckled. He sat beside him on the bench and patted his back.

“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be inside the house with Ms. Vivienne?”

Assistant Li scoffed. Why would he be inside with her when he doesn’t want to work for her?

“Not interested.” he said.

“Not interested? Why? But she’s your Boss now and you are her Assistant.”

Assistant Li stood up from the bench. That was the sort of thing he hated to hear.

“I am not her Assistant. I don’t want to be.” Assistant Mike was surprised.

“You are joking, right?” he asked but Li didn’t answer him.

“Then you should talk to Mr. Hawthorn about this instead of staying here.” He advised.

“How should I tell him again, I have already told him but he said I should do it because of him. How do you even expect me to work for a woman? I don’t want to,” he gasped.

Assistant Mike shook his head. He understood. But shouldn’t he be happy that he was at least an Assistant to Vivienne Montague?

That was a privilege to him. And even if it was him that Sterling gave to Vivienne as an Assistant, he would gladly take it.

“You have no idea what you are doing, Li. You know Mr. Hawthorn isn’t going to be happy when he find out you aren’t working for Vivienne.”

“I don’t care. I told him already but he wouldn’t listen to me. Well…” he put on a mischievous grin.

“Since he wants me to work for her, then I will do that.”

Assistant Mike was surprised by the sudden change of his expression.

Wasn’t he the one looking so angry just seconds ago?

“What are you planning to do, Li?” Assistant Mike was suspicious of him.

“Work for her like Mr. Hawthorn wants.” He raised his brow with smiles on his face.

“Are you sure you aren’t up to no good? Remember this, Mr. Hawthorn isn’t going to take it lightly with you if anything happens to Vivienne Montague,” he warned.

“I heard you, Assistant Mike.”

-----

“Thank you for coming, Mr. Hawthorn. Next time you want to come, please inform me so I will make the maids tidy up the place and also make something delicious for you,” Vivienne said after escorting Sterling to the car.

“That’s not a problem. And besides, the whole place is so clean.” she giggled.

“See you soon, Ms. Vivienne. Go through the document and start rehearsing.” She bowed her head to him before the car drove out of the house.

After they’d left, Vivienne returned back to the room holding the document to her chest.

Immediately she was inside the room, she started jumping up excitedly.

“What a happy day for me.” She looked at the document again and kissed it passionately.

“I really am the luckiest girl on earth. Wow!” She sat down on the bed to go through the document and then remembered her Assistant.

“Where on earth is that dude? He has to help me with this.” She stood up from the bed and left the room with the document.

Since he wouldn’t come even if she sent to call him, it was better she go see him by herself.

“Where’s Assistant Li?” she asked Lia who was coming out from the maid’s room.

“He’s in his room.” She point at the room opposite the kitchen.

“Okay.” Vivienne made her way there. She knocked on the door but got no response.

She knocked again for the third time but got no response either.

“Is he really in the room?” She decided to turn the handle and the door opened.

There on the sofa, Assistant Li sat with his legs crossed going through his phone.

Vivienne’s brows furrowed in to a surprise. She looked at the door again and then at Assistant Li who didn’t even look to see the person that had entered the room.

“Assistant Li?” She called but he ignored her.

Vivienne closed the door and he turned around.

“Who told you to come in?” he asked her.

Vivienne looked behind her to see if there was another person standing there that he was talking to but there wasn’t.

“Are you talking to me?” She pointed at her chest.

Assistant Li put down his phone and turned to her.

“Is there another person with you that I don’t know? Of course it is you I am talking to.” He stood up from the sofa.

“You know how rude it is to enter someone’s room just like that, right?” he asked with his hands in his pockets.

“Oh, but I knocked.” She pointed at the door.

“But I didn’t say you should come in before you do,” Vivienne nodded her head.

“Sorry about that. I’m here to show you this. Mr. Hawthorn came earlier on and gave this to me.” She stretched out her hand to give him the document but he didn’t take it from her.

“It’s a movie I’ll be appearing in and I want you to help me rehears it. That’s your job after all.” she chuckled.

Assistant Li sighed inside. That was his job as an Assistant but not for a woman.

“Maybe your personal maid will help you.” He turned his back on her.

“You mean Lia? No, she’s my cosmetologist. Besides, it’s your job as my Assistant.” She dropped the document on the desk.

Li nodded his head. He turned around and picked up the document.

“I am not interested to work with a woman. Go meet your fellow woman to help you rehears your movies.” He gave the document back to her.

Vivienne left the room so confused. Was Li forced to work for her?

Why was he acting that way? Was he part of her enemies like Sebastian?

She went back to her room with all those thoughts running in her mind.

If Li’s her enemy, then it wasn’t a good thing staying in the same place with her.

What if Sebastian or someone that hates her conspire with him to hurt her?

She felt she should inform Sterling about it before it got out of hands.

( Rehearsing her line)

Vivienne sighed deeply. She brushed the thought aside and went to stand in front of the mirror.

She went through the first line and dropped the book on the dressing table to rehearse it.

But the first time she tried, she messed things up.

“I can do this.” Vivienne picked up the document, went back to the bed to take a look at it again.

She spent some minutes reading through her lines and when she was sure she had memorized it, she returned back to the dressing table.

But as soon as she saw her own reflection, Vivienne’s heart started palpitating.

She tried rehearsing the line again but nothing could go straight.

Vivienne’s heart dropped. What was happening to her? She used to do it very good without any problem.

Was it because it has been long she acted a movie? Or someone did something to her?

If it was someone that did something to her, then she believed it would be Sebastian.

“Oh no!” She sat on the stool in front of the dressing table.

“What am I gonna do now? What is happening to me?” She glanced at the document again and sighed.

“I thought I was going to do it without rehearsing the line. Who knew things would turn out this way?” She buried her head in her hands.

Vivienne was so lost in thought that she didn’t know when Lia came in to the room.

Lia stood there calling her attention but Vivienne didn’t hear her.

Lia has to go closer to her and tapped her on the shoulder.

“Ms. Vivienne?” Vivienne was startled but quickly got a hold of herself.

“Is anything the matter? You were so lost in thought,” Lia asked.

Vivienne sighed. She left the chair to the bed and picked up the document.

“Look Lia, I am having a problem with…” Vivienne quickly stopped.

That wasn’t what an actress should be doing. Of course she could complain to a very close friend of hers or her siblings or manager but not her helps or any random person.

What if she tell Lia she couldn’t memorize her line and Lia tells another person?

Then rumors would start traveling around that Vivienne Montague is having trouble with her rehearsal.

They’ll say things about her. Some of them will support and sympathize with her while some won’t even care and some will laugh at her.

“Ms. Vivienne?” Lia called again.

“Oh, I was about to go call you,” Vivienne smiled.

“I want you to help me with this line.” She pointed at the dialogue and handed over the book to her.

“I’ll say it and you’ll tell me if it’s correct,” Lia nodded her head.

She was happy that she was the one helping Vivienne out instead of her Assistant who was never seen.

“I’m so sorry step Mum, I didn’t know kiki was on the way.” she said the dialogue from the story.

“Wow! That’s correct and I love the way you said it,” Lia giggled.

Vivienne already knew that line, it wasn’t a new thing to her.

That was why it was so easy for her to say it.

“Ms. Vivienne, I’ll go make a cup of tea for you to make the rehearsal go smoothly.”

Vivienne nodded to her and Lia hurried out of the room.

As soon as she left, Vivienne dropped the document again and sighed deeply.

That was a shock to her. Why was she messing things up? What if Sterling get angry and told her to leave? It would be a big blow on her face.

“Who should I call for help now?” She started thinking.

Had it been she had a friend when she was still in pure heart entertainment, maybe she would have called her.

But there was no friend. Everyone treated her like a goddess including the guys there.

Few that never treated her like that were the ones that hated her.

“Should I call Marcus?” She thought, staring at the ceiling.

But was calling Marcus a good idea? What if he want her to change her line? Or what if he brought back the topic of her talking to Sterling about changing the storyline?

“That’s a pass.” she waved her hand.

Through out that day, Vivienne spent part of her night trying to memorize all the dialogues.

She was lucky she memorized some parts while some weren’t Memorizable.
