Chapter 23: Lana on the Run

Aria’s POV

Two days passed quickly like a blink of an eye, but the throbbing in my head didn’t stop.

The pain was so severe that lying my head on the pillow seemed like I had hit a rock.

Every bone and vein inside my head hurt so much that it made me regret why I intentionally provoked Lana’s wolf.

I didn’t know the pain would last that long, I thought it would go away after applying medication.

Well, I underestimated her, that maniac was stronger than I’d thought.

“Still having an headache?”

Elias asked, placing ice cold pack on the side bed.

“How intense it is now?”

“Terrible.”

He nodded, touched my forehead and sat on the bed.

“I wonder what Mason is teaching her,”

Rafe barged inside the room, teething.

What had Mason had to do with what happened to me? That wasn’t the first time his name was mentioned.

The previous day while I was still at the hospital, Kael had mentioned the same thing. And none of them even cared to explain what that meant.

“What is it?”

Even as the words left my lips, the pain that was transported inside my brain was like an electric wave.

“If he is training you well, Lana’s wolf wouldn’t have inflicted this great injury on you.”

“Don’t say that,”

Nina, who was in the other side of the room chipped in.

“Everyone in this pack knows how strong Lana’a wolf is. Have you guys already forgotten when she had a fight with Matt and killed him? His wolf wasn’t one to joke with yet she took him down with just a single bite.”

That took me aback. Lana was that strong? Why didn’t anyone warned me about it then? Jeez! That was terrifying.

“Forget about that, Nina. When Lana returns, she will be taught not to tamper with the Alpha leader.”

The Alpha leader who can’t let out her wolf. Hearing them spoke about Lana’s wolf made me so embarrassed.

If only there is a way I could bring mine out, but Elias said it was behind his capabilities. He said only a soccereer can undue whatever was stopping me from letting Liza out.

“Have you found her location?”

Elias turned towards Rafe who was deep into his phone. He lifted a brow, parted his lips to speak, but changed his mind and bobbed his head.

“When will she be found? Are your men capable enough to…”

“Do you think they are weaklings?”

Rafe snapped, interrupting Elias.

“My men will get a hold of Lana wherever she is and drag her back here,”

He sounded more authoritative than someone explaining a simple thing.

So Lana did ran away the day we had a fight. But none of them had seen her yet. They had no idea where she went to because she didn’t leave with her phone or any gadget.

What they didn’t know was that I knew where Lana was. I only decided to keep quiet about it because I didn’t want her back to the mansion.

Lana wasn’t far away, she was in the only place she could go whenever she leaves the pack.

A week later, I decided to go to the office since the headache had disappeared. But would I say I made a mistake going out? Because the moment I stepped out of the mansion, the servants who were outside started gossiping.

It was so loud enough to be called a whisper. Apparently, they were doing it on purpose. I wondered why they would still talk about me that way after all the warnings I gave them weeks ago.

“Do you see her? I thought she was going to die.”

“Well, she underestimated Ms. Lana’s wolf.”

“This mansion has not been peaceful again since she arrived.”

I was intrigued by their boldness. So instead of walking away, I didn’t. Maybe they were new, or perhaps they weren’t with others when I warned them. Or they were doing it intentionally because they now knew I was weak.

Surprisingly, none took a step when I approached, they stood rooted in the same spot, probably waiting for me to do my worse.

“So I heard you guys…”

“But we didn’t lie, Alpha Aria. You have no wolf.”

“And weak. If another pack decides to go to was with us, how are you going to defend us?”

My jaw dropped when the first person spoke, then my heart shattered at the second girl’s words. She was right, and that really got deep into me like a dagger.

But they shouldn’t speak about me like that, right? They should be scared of even standing in front of me to talk to me. It could have been because I wasn’t tough like Lana. They feared Lana a lot and stay out of the way all the time.

I’d once seen one of them staggering away just by seeing Lana. Well, they were talking about how strong Lana’s wolf is so, it might be because of that.

“And you dim it fit to talk to me this way?”

“That’s the truth. I have an advice for you, Alpha Aria…”

The way she called my name sounded so sarcastic like she was mocking me.

“Step down and let Lana take over, only then will there be peace in this mansion. We also heard that you used to work in a club house, I suggest you go back to…”

Pak!

Another slap followed as I couldn’t hold it in anymore.

“How dare you talk to me that way!”

I barked, grabbing her shirt.

My fingers curled around her neck, strangling her. She couldn’t breathe properly, and she couldn’t talk. When the grip became so tight, and her eyes red, she started tapping my hand to release her.

“Guards!”

As the bodyguards ran towards us, the other girl wanted to run away but luck wasn’t on her side as she fell on the ground.

“Lock them up!”

They took hold of them.

“When Lana, your superior returns, she won’t be able to recognise you let alone give you work to do again.”

As they were being dragged away, they kept crying out for forgiveness.

How dare they look into my eyes to tell me filth? I would have let them go but comparing me with Lana wasn’t something to let go.

“You look upset, Alpha Aria, is everything good?”

When I waved at her, Alice understood and only placed what she brought before leaving.

An hour later, while still going through Damien’s document, Kael’s call came in.

“You need to come home now, Elias found something interesting in your blood.”
