Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 24: Protecting a Brother
Chapter 25
Aria’s POV
Different thoughts swirled in my head as I returned home.
What could have Elias found? Could it be something related to my disappearance or what?
As I stepped inside the extra large living room, they were all seated, head drooped, except for Kael who was engrossed in his laptop.
“You’re back.”
Rafe hurried towards me and held my hand.
“How are you feeling now, Sis? Are you alright?”
Damien joined.
“Come sit here,”
Their over-kindness which was escorted by worriedness made me thought if I was going to die. Elias is a doctor, he must have probably seen something that will kill me.
Maybe a disease, or… I couldn’t even think straight.
“Stop scaring her.”
Kael closed the lid of the laptop.
He gestured for me to go to where he was sitting and so I went.
“Sit here, Aria, they are scaring you.”
Of course they were. Only when I sat beside Kael did I breathed a sigh of relief.
“During your stay at the hospital, Elias ran a test on you and found…”
He paused, and glanced at Elias who in turn took over.
“I ran a test on you and found poison in your blood.”
Aha! I knew it!
“It was meant to kill you two days after you consumed it, but something is slowing it down… more like a mysterious…”
My eyes shifted to Damien who had became uncomfortable in an instant.
He knew what was running in my mind. It was him who slowed it down. But why? If he knew since that day that I consumed poison, why didn’t he tell me about it?
We could have gotten me treated before it escalate to all the organs in my body.
“Elias think someone perform a magic on you,”
Kael interrupted. My eyes went back to him as he explained it clearly. However, Kael wasn’t happy with the fact that someone used magic in the pack.
“That person knows that dark magic is forbidden in this pack yet they used it…”
He paused, then glanced at Damien who had just shifted in the sofa. His reaction clearly showed that he was hiding something. And Kael’s suspicion arose.
“Is there something you will like to tell us, Damien?”
My other brothers turned their gaze towards Damien, putting him the center of attention. Damien pointed at his chest, asking if they were referring to him.
“Come to think of it,”
I stepped in so they would divert their attention to me and leave Damien alone. Besides, he saved me, and if I allowed them to keep questioning him, he would end up spilling everything out. That wouldn’t go well, that was definitely going to tear the family apart.
I don’t want to be the source of their separation. Their bond is so strong that once torn apart, nothing would tie it back the way it was before no matter how strong or powerful that thing or somebody is.
“The person who did it saved me. They didn’t harm me.”
“Yet it is still forbidden.”
Rafe protested.
“I know.”
When they weren’t looking at me, I signaled Damien and luckily, he understood and stopped acting nervous.
“We will find out who it is and…”
“And do what?”
I shot to my feet.
“Get rid of them ofcourse.”
“I will handle that,”
Rafe added.
“Aren’t you guys happy that I am alive and kicking?”
Well, I intended to make them forget about finding whoever it was using an emotional manipulation, and it worked.
Noticing how they were exchanging glances, I kept pushing it further.
“The best you guys can do is thank that person when you encounter them. They saved your sister’s life. If they hadn’t slowed down the poison, I would have died long ago,”
Then I turned towards Elias.
“Bro? Don’t you think you should act fast by sucking out the poison from my blood instead of sitting here?”
Elias shot to his feet, nodding in agreement.
“Come with me, sis, I must treat you right away.”
All that time, Kael didn’t utter a word, he kept on staring at me as if finding something. I knew him so well, he wasn’t one to let go of things easily.
I definitely knew there was plenty of questions running in his mind and when he find the perfect time, he would ask me all of it.
And so he did.
After Elias had injected me and left, Kael came in.
“How do you feel now? You should allow me find who did it to you and I promise to teach them a lesson.”
Now he was changing topic.
“You mean the person who saved me?”
I pretended not to know what he was talking about.
“No, you said to let it go. I mean the person who poisoned you.”
Isn’t it obvious?
I don’t eat at the office, and ever since I stepped inside the pack and became the Alpha leader, I had never gone out to eat somewhere. The mansion is the only place I eat so, I was poisoned from where I call home.
“Can you imagine? I have been away for years and on returning home, someone is already trying to take my life.”
I let out a frustrated sigh, and dramatically patted my forehead.
“Leave it to me,”
He held my hands.
“I will seek whoever it is and make them drink poison.”
Kael never say a word without carrying it out. I trusted him.
“You have no idea how much you mean to us, sis. We love you so much and we will protect you to the brim.”
Gosh!
Where have they all been my entire life? If only I was found early, I wouldn’t have gone through all those tortures.
Remembering that only fueled my energy for revenge. Gregory and everyone who tortured and abused me in moonclaw pack will and must go through my wrath.
“Thanks, big bro.”
He released my hand and got up.
“What do you want me to do to Lana when we find her?”
Kael’s expression was so scary when he mentioned Lana’s name. He looked like he was informing me Lana will die in his hand instead of seeking for my opinion.
“First, let’s find her, then we will think of what to do with her.”
He agreed by nodding his head, but deep down, I knew Kael wouldn’t wait for me to say what I want to be done to Lana.
The gravity of love they’ve got for me won’t allow them to spare Lana unless I step in.
“Good night and always stay safe.”
He kissed my forehead, adjusted the blanket to my chest and left the room.
The next morning, I was awoken by a shriek in the mansion, then someone started banging my door.
