Chapter 26: The Start of a New Era

Aria’s POV

Before the night descended, the news had spread across the pack like a plague. Medias were already airing the news on the channels, and paparazzi were all over the mansion.

I didn’t even know all that was happening until Nina gave me a call and informed me. And truth to her words, there were hundreds of paparazzi outside the gate.

Since the bodyguards were already handling them, I decided to tuned into one channel to see what they were even talking about.

The first one I clicked had people airing their opinions on the kind of action that was taken on the maid servant.

While some of them commended me for punishing the servant that way, some of them found it too harsh.

“In my opinion, the Alpha leader shouldn’t have done that. The lady should have been locked up in jail until she revealed the name of the person who was behind her.”

“I agree with what my colleagues said. That lady wouldn’t have done that by her will. Besides, what would she gain from doing that? Someone who want the Alpha leader dead ordered her to do it…”

“And because she was scared of revealing the name, she was forced to consume poison.”

“To me, someone like Aria shouldn’t be ruling us. I am afraid that one day, everyone in this pack will disappear one after the other to escape her cruel leadership.”

My jaw dropped from all the comments. I didn’t know a lot of them were against me being the leader until that day.

To them, what I did to the maid servant was wrong and it made me wondered if they missed the part that she was the one who tried to kill me.

‘We are doomed.’

Liza teethed nervously,

“No, we aren’t doomed, they are doom. Don’t you think it is time for us to show them who the leader is?”

I turned off the television, got up and headed towards the room with a mischievous grin.

“Let today be the start of a new era.”

I got ready, picked the necessary things and headed to the parking lot.

The bodyguards opened the car door, I got in and the driver drove out of the mansion amidst the paparazzi noises.

The car didn’t stop, neither did any of them dared to follow us. When we arrived at the company, the whole place was swamped with them.

The number of people present there was more than the ones outside the mansion. Others who didn’t know what was happening would think something bad had happened to me of any of the family members.

“Alpha Aria, what do you have to say about the people’s opinions.”

I didn’t want to make a stop, but that question made me stopped.

“Whoever dare to repeat what that maid servant did will be punished the same way. And those of you saying trash about me, get ready because I am coming for you one after the other. I am going to show you all that I am your leader and I must be respected!”

Hearing my words, the paparazzi backed off, fears visible on their faces.

Before I could step inside the company building, not even a single one of them remained in the company.

They all made the great revision and vanished into thin air.

“That was serious.”

Alice let out a relief sigh.

“Alpha Aria, these people are taking you for granted. But now, I think they will get into their senses and stop looking down on you.”

Even as Alice was saying that, my attention wasn’t one hundred percent with her. Even though I heard some few words, others were soundless.

My mind was occupied with many thoughts; who must have ordered the maid servant to poison me, who saved and took me to the hospital that day, who switched me from birth, who injected me with silver?

However, my thoughts were interrupted by Alice.

“Alpha Aria, you have a guest.”

A guest at that moment surprised me. I didn’t grant any appointment, and if it was any of my brothers, they would have called before coming. Before I could ask Alice who it was, she was already out of the office. Everything was so fast as if she was never even in the office from the first place.

A few seconds later, the guest entered, and it was no other person than Jace. What a surprise. Jace had disappeared for weeks and was just showing his face to me.

Since the day Rafe took him away, I never set my eyes on him again which was a relief, but now he was back. To do what exactly? I was curious. But one thing was sure, he had returned to keep annoying me.

“How dare she tried to kill you?”

He fumed, tossing the envelope he was holding on the sofa opposite the window.

“You should have waited until I arrived here, Aria, I would have strengled her until her face turned purple, and her breath ceased!”

My phone kept me company all the minutes he wasted ranting over what didn’t have to do with him. Who was he to have pity on me? The day he was supposed to save me, he didn’t.

“I cried, sweetheart. I thought I was going to lose you.”

He stepped closer to my desk.

“I’ve missed you so much, Aria.”

As he was about to place his hand on mine, I snapped at him and got up.

“What brought you back? Shouldn’t you be already dead?”

“You are pretending like you don’t know.”

He chuckled softly,

“You begged your brother to release me so he did. I knew you would never allow the love of your life, your destined mate to be killed.”

The audacity.

“I didn’t. Besides, you rejected me the first minutes we met so, I am no longer interested in you. It was Lana who saved you. Why don’t you go to her?”

Jace’s brows furrowed into a frown at the mention of Lana’s name.

“Lana isn’t my mate, sweetheart. I don’t like her. Also, I heard that she is on the run after what she did to you.”

He paused, leaning closer to me.

“I know where Lana is. Do you want to know?”
