Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 27: To Save Jace
Chapter 28
Aria’s POV
Lana’s whereabouts wasn’t hidden to me. I knew where she was.
“No, not interested.”
I waved him off, stepping away from him.
“Seriously I can bring her to you if you want. You know how much she is obsessed with me.”
Indeed Lana was obsessed with Jace. But would she be so foolish to reveal to him where she was? She knew he was obsessed with me so she wouldn’t take that risk.
“When I am ready to take my revenge on her, I will find her.”
Jace grabbed my wrist as I was about to leave the office. He didn’t look desperate like when he came inside the office, he looked worried.
“I have to tell you something about Lana.”
“Not interested.”
“But this is so important.”
“I said no!”
Jace didn’t give up, he turned in the keys, removes them and put it inside his pocket.
“What is your problem? Hand over the keys!”
Jace stepped back, shaking his head.
“Lana is planning to kill you.”
My heart jumped. It wasn’t like I didn’t know that was Lana’s intention, but it was unannounced.
“She is presently staying with Alpha Gregory and the both of them are trying to…”
“I don’t care!”
I shut him up.
“They can do whatever they want, I can protect myself!”
I snatched the keys from him and unlocked the door.
“I am not a coward, Jace, Lana and Gregory don’t scare me. And please, stop tailing me, I ain’t interested in you.”
He didn’t follow me which was such a relief, but my celebration didn’t last, it ended when I saw Jace’s car following us.
That dude was seeking for death. He definitely knew I was heading back to the mansion yet he decided to follow me.
Rafe had warned him not to ever set foot there yet, he was going there by himself. Maybe I should allow him get shot in the head like Rafe had threatened.
Surprisingly, when we arrived at the roundabout, he took another route directing to the training ground.
My curiosity got a hold of me. Jace was going to the pack’s training ground to do what? That was where our warriors were being trained. And Jace was from another pack which means he was going there to spy.
“Follow him.”
The driver turned around quickly as if he was waiting for me to give the order.
To avoid been discovered by Jace, I ordered that the entourage returned to the mansion.
And just as I had thought, Jace was hiding behind a pillar outside the training ground, overseeing the youngsters who were being trained by Mason.
I got out and tiptoed quietly to where he was standing. As I approached him, Jace was speaking on the phone.
I couldn’t hear what he was saying, but his body language showed he was definitely spying and was reporting to whoever he was doing the job for.
Before he would notice me, I tapped him on the shoulder then crossed my arms around my chest.
The phone slipped off his hand as soon as he turned around and his eyes fell on me.
“Ari…ria…it’s…you…”
He stuttered, then hurriedly picked up his phone.
“What are you doing here, Jace? Spying on us? What on earth are you up to?”
“It’s not what you are thinking, I just…”
“Liar!”
My voice was so loud that it caught the attention of everyone at the training ground. Seeing me boiling in rage, and Jace shivering in front of me like a drenched kitten, they scampered towards us. The bodyguard and the driver also followed.
“Alpha Aria?”
They choruses, bowing in respect.
“Who is this? Is he bothering you?”
“He is…”
The ringtone from my phone cut me off. Looking at the screen, it was Kael who was calling me. Fear for Jace’s life filled my heart in an instant.
If I made the mistake of telling them Jace was spying, the news will spread across the pack like a disease and my brothers will find out about it.
If that happens, Jace will be punished with death, and his family will be wiped out. Not only that, his entire generation will never see the light of the next day.
So, I ignored his calls and pretended like nothing was happening.
“Go back to your training, I was just having a chit chat with an old friend.”
Apparently, they didn’t believe me, but there was nothing they could do about it as they wouldn’t argue with me. Then they left, but Mason didn’t.
“Alpha Aria, you’ve stopped coming to the training ground.”
“I’ve been busy with so many things.”
My phone kept ringing non-stop, but I still ignored it.
To save Jace, I didn’t spend much time there, and on my way going back to the mansion, I checked the call logs.
Seeing the countless missed calls from Kael and the rest of my brothers, fear gripped me. My heart started pounding against the rib cage, and balls of sweat started dropping.
‘I don’t think everything is fine.’
Liza shuddered.
No, nothing was right, I could feel it.
I started calling them back, but none of the calls went through. That raised my apprehension more, and when I lifted my head to tell the driver to be fast, we’d already arrived at the mansion.
However, the situation at home wasn’t amusing, the entire place was swamped with paparazzi, ambulances, and heavy smoke that filled the air.
With thudding eyes and widened eyes, my wobbling legs found their way inside the mansion.
Some bodyguards were in a critical situation as they were transferred inside the ambulances. Some of their faces were disfigured, some had lost one of their limbs, and others were bleeding profusely.
Even though I couldn’t figure out all of them, I recognized some of them; they were the ones who went out with me that day.
What could have happened to them?
Was that person targeting me?
If I knew, I wouldn’t have ordered them to go back without me. I would have allowed them escorted me to the training ground.
To save Jace, a lot of people lost their lives.
