Chapter 31: Who Was That?

Aria’s POV

“I don’t know who that is, but we will look into it.”

Rafe called one of his minions to unlock the door and when they did, he ordered them to check out who that wolf was.

“It has disappeared, Mr. Black.”

How? Even Rafe had that same question written on his face.

“As soon as you dragged Alpha Aria inside, it got on its paws and hustled away.”

But it got shot. How was it able to run away?

“Aria! Thank goodness you are alright.”

I didn’t pay attention to the rest of my brothers who had just arrived, my mind was occupied with the thought of that wolf. I was so eager to know who that was, and how where it ran to.

I felt a deep connection with it when our eyes met, it felt like we’d once crossed path before, but where?

‘Could that be our mate?’

Liza couldn’t figure it out because her wolf ability wasn’t available yet. Part of the side effect of the silver injection I was given right from birth was me losing my wolf entirely. It was a miracle that I could even communicate with my wolf.

The first day I started heading Liza’s voice in my mind, I thought I had gone insane, then I got to figure out that it was my wolf. That day, I got a deep believe that one day I will be able to let her out.

If only we both had our ability as werewolf, we could have sense it if he was our true mate.

‘Maybe we should find him, he must be connected to us.’

She urged in urgency.

How do we find someone who we had no idea where he went to or where he came from? Where do we even start it?

‘We can follow its footprints.’

Liza kept suggesting things, but a lot of them were impossible. If I decided to do as she mentioned, how do we differentiate the wolf’s footprints from the ones outside?

‘Its huge, we can easily figure it out.’

Throughout the night, the thought came flooding my mind like a wave. I couldn’t take that wolf off my mind, I kept having that deep-feeling-connection about it.

And when I decided to close my eyes, it was the only thing I saw. Its sparkly blue eyes that shone like a full moon, clear like a crystal water, and beautiful like a rose.

Sleep only came like a breeze at 5am, then I woke up again at 6am.

At the dining table that morning, I couldn’t concentrate on what my brothers were saying, I didn’t even pay any attention to them, I didn’t care to ask Kael how he was doing, I was only thinking about the mysterious wolf.

They must have talked and talked to me but got no response because Elias who was seated by me tapped my hand. When I returned to my senses, their eyes were fixed on me.

I felt so embarrassed like someone who was caught doing a bad thing.

“A penny for your thought.”

Damien joked. I only forced a smile, then it disappeared into thin air.

“What’s wrong? You haven’t touched your food, it’s getting cold.”

Truthfully, I didn’t eat a bite, but the plate looked so terrible because of my carelessness with the fork.

“What’s on your mind?”

Elias asked worriedly.

“If it has to do with what happened yesterday, I have already decided to start training you.”

He got my attention.

“Yes, little sis. Rafe must train you to protect yourself from situations like that especially when we are far away from you. If Kael hadn’t gone there, things would have gone south.”

True to his word. But what do I have to do with mafia training? Shouldn’t they be training me more on letting my wolf out? Well, next time, they will also want me to learn law and doctoring.

“I don’t think that is necessary.”

I said absentmindedly, then got up to leave.

“It is.”

Kael stopped me.

“Rafe must train you to use gun and fight dirty, and I focus on training you myself because Mason is doing a terrible job.”

Mason wasn’t doing any terrible job, it was I who stopped going there. And because I am the Alpha leader, Mason wouldn’t force me to attend.

“You guys have more important things to focus on, just ignore me…”

“We can’t ignore you. You are our only sister. Starting tomorrow, Rafe will start the tutoring and the next day, I will take over.”

Technically, I would be busy the whole week dealing with the pack affairs. Then the weekends when I always relax, Rafe will train me on Saturdays, then Kael will take over on the Sundays. Great! Brush my life!

“Thanks for the care, dear brothers, I appreciate every second of care, kindness, and love.”

I couldn’t say no to them, they won’t let me win. Since I moved in with them, I noticed that winning an argument with them was like eating a metal.

“Good.”

They resumed eating while I turned to leave, but was stopped agin.

“You didn’t ask about Lana.”

Damien’s tone depicted teasing. They were trying to pull my legs, to hear what I would say.

“She is in the hospital, she got shot while trying to save Kael.”

To save Kael? More like to win his heart so she would be brought back home.

“Don’t you think you should pay her a visit? She is staying at Elias’s hospital. If not as a step sister, then as a pack member.”

“I heard you. Let’s see if I am fully booked today.”

With that, I hurried away before they would change their minds and call me back.

‘We aren’t going to the hospital, are we?’

Why would I even go when Lana would only piss me off? Besides, I had an important thing to deal with, not her.

As I stepped out of one of our companies after a meeting, someone appeared in front of me in a Mercedes, scaring me. I had started thinking of how to deal with the idiot when the door opened and Jace stepped out.

I didn’t know if it was me, but his appearance wasn’t as usual. He looked more sophisticated, more handsome, and more responsible.

When he smiled, my heart thudded in my chested, making me unease. Suddenly, the connection I had with him the first time we met at the club house returned. Swiftly, my eyes went to his legs, then I saw it.

He was limping with the exact leg the wolf was shot, I started searching for answers to the question running in my head, and when I looked up, he was staring at me.

Then I saw it, the resemblance with the huge wolf.

“Hello, Aria? We met again.”

No doubt, that wolf was Jace. But how? Is he an Alpha?
