Chapter 33: Pretending to Be a Victim

Aria’s POV

Because Kael and the rest of my brothers kept insisting I visited Lana in the hospital, I decided to listen to them a week after she was admitted.

When I arrived at the VIP room she was admitted in, Lana was on the phone, and when she saw me, she quickly dropped it, acting as if she was caught in the act.

“What are you doing here?”

She scowled.

“You should knock before entering a room!”

It was clear that she was up to no good, even on a sick bed. Typical Lana, always looking for a way to keep being a bad person.

“To check up on you of course.”

She scoffed, displaying her displeasure.

“I never asked you to come see me. Besides, this is all your fault!”

I paused walking, staring at her.

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me right. I was shot because of you. You hired thugs to take my life! If not for the fact that Kael was there to bring me to the hospital fast, I would have died!”

“Wow! So you are painting me with your sin? Girl, get a life! I know it was your doing so that you can be pardoned and brought back to the mansion.”

‘Lana is stupid.’

She can say that again and again. She thought her mere accusation will get into my head? Never.

“My only offense was going to the spa pallor to plead with you!”

She went on.

“But you…”

The way she started playing the victim baffled me. Wasn’t she the one who started the fight when I came in? Suddenly, she was blaming me and she looked so serious about it.

“Please, Aria…”

She started shedding tears,

“I am sorry for all the things I’d done to you, it was the devil’s handwork.”

My jaw dropped, staring at Lana in shock. I wondered if she hit her head somewhere that caused her brain dysfunction. Why was she switching moods all of a sudden?

“I just want to return home because that is where I am safe, please forgive me for all I’ve done to you.”

This time, she was crying out loud, rubbing her palms together.

‘What is wrong with her?’

That was the same question I wanted to ask Lana.

“Quit the pretend act, Lana, nobody is in the room with us.”

But Lana didn’t stop, she kept on crying, pleading the way she’d done in front of Kael. If I had seen anyone in the room, I would have said Lana was doing it because of their presence, but nobody was there which confused me.

Could it be that she was a changed person and she meant all she was saying? My mind couldn’t believe with her. Lana is a manipulator, she can do anything to get whatever she want.

I had to still my mind because if care wasn’t taken, her action would soften my mind and I would end up believing her. Worst, she would be taken back to the mansion where she will start over with her upgraded evil intention towards me.

“So sad,”

I was jolted by the voice behind me. When did Elias entered the room? I never heard his footsteps or the sound of the door opening.

Aha! No wonder Lana was talking that way. I just knew it that she would never change.

“You startled me, Elias.”

I gasped, patting my chest.

“Sorry, but you should forgive Lana already. Since yesterday, she has been doing nothing but calling your name to forgive her.”

Elias sounded so serious about it which meant Lana’s fake act had gotten into his head.

“Drop it, Elias, Lana will never change.”

“That’s not true, Aria, I am a changed person.”

“She even took the bullet for you,”

Elias explained.

“You don’t have to tell her, Elias.”

She sniffled,

“No, Lana, Aria must know.”

I was so interested in hearing what explanation Elias had to give about that. Lana took the bullet for me? And he believed that? Who could have fed him with such lies?

“The thugs were trying to break into the spa pallor as they were sent to attack you. Apparently, Lana was coming out at that moment and to stop them from hurting you, she took the bullet.”

I didn’t know when I burst into laughter. Lana did that? That was the biggest lie I’ve ever heard in my entire life.

“Who on earth fed you with this?”

I asked Elias, trying to control my uncontrollable laughter.

“Everyone present there saw it,”

“More like the people she hired to stand there.”

I scoffed at Lana.

“Kael was there, he saw it too.”

“Kael will never believe her lies, he know Lana more than you guys.”

Definitely, I was only wasting my time there. If I knew Lana would put on that pretend act, I wouldn’t have wasted time going to see her.

“I am done here,”

“Wait,”

Elias grabbed my wrist.

“Why don’t you allow her return to the mansion? She is more safe there.”

“No, I won’t allow it. She hates me so, I want her far away from me.”

Elias didn’t like that, and he kept pressuring.

“Nothing will make me…”

“Lana will return to the mansion.”

Kael didn’t sound like he was seeking for my opinion, he sounded like he was giving an order.

“When will she be discharged?”

He asked Elias who was still holding on to my wrist. Elias released me with a sigh of relief, and checked the iPad he was holding.

“She can be discharged tomorrow then we continue the treatment at home.”

“Good.”

He turned to Lana who was still fake-sobbing.

“Do not worry, you are going home.”

None of them ask if it was okay with me. I mean, I am the Alpha leader and I have to approve things before it is being carried out. Kael gave the order without seeking for my consent. Wasn’t he the one who told me that all orders must come from me? Has he already forgotten that?

“What if I refuse?”
