Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 36: Exile Her
Chapter 37
Aria’s POV
I didn’t mishear that, Kael definitely said it. His expression clearly showed that he was glad that Lana was sent away. Why? Was he acting all kind to her to make a fool out of her? Jee! If Lana got to find out about it, she was going to kill him.
“You did the right thing, Aria.”
He gave me a thumbs up, and a wink bonus.
“Are you a hypocrite?”
I couldn’t hold my laughter, so did Kael.
“You did Lana dirty, and provoked me. Why did you do that?”
I laughed so hard that my tummy began to ache. Kael took my hand and led me inside the mansion where we continued talking about Lana. How I wished she was there at that moment to witness the things Kael was saying. She would be too embarrassed to even step out of wherever she was living let alone to go see Kael in his company, as she had mentioned before leaving.
“I was enjoying her fake act that was why I decided to play along,”
Kael had said.
“Well, you believed that she was shot because she was trying to shield me from being attacked.”
“Yes, and I regret it. I started to believe your words a few days ago after Damien told me the report of his investigations.”
Damien said he was going to investigate the whole thing but they never told me he was done with it.
“What did he say?”
I was curious to hear what Damien found even though I already knew the truth.
“That Lana planned this with Alpha Gregory of Moonclaw pack. They wanted her back inside the mansion so that their plan of staging a war would work out well.”
I was so impressed with Damien for digging deep and informing Kael of the whole truth. Thank goodness he believed that if not, he would have made the greatest mistake of letting the enemy live under the same roof with us.
Lana was smarter than they’d all thought. She could just wake up in the middle of the night to let the enemies attack us.
“We will strengthen the security of this pack,”
He said, but I had a better idea in addition to strengthening the security.
“Lana must be exiled from this pack if we want everything to work out.”
Kael nodded as my words were making sense to him.
“Since we already know what her plan is, leaving her hanging around in the pack is a dangerous thing. Last time, she invited rogues to attack herself, and the next time, she will invite them to harm the entire pack members.”
Disowning her as a pack member in public will arouse speculations on why that happened and it would be a good opportunity to reveal her tactics. Everyone in the pack must know her intentions so that they would be wary of her.
Doing that would make them keep a close eye on her and any suspicious movement in the pack.
“If that’s what you think is right, Alpha leader.”
Kael’s phone rang and as he was busy speaking on the phone, I was thinking of a way to hold the conference. To make it more fun, Lana had to be there. But how would I invite her without raising her suspicion? She had no trust in me. Maybe Kael.
“What do you say abo…”
Kael was no longer there when I veered around, not even a trace of him. Only his cologne lingered in the air.
I had to treat the situation urgently so I hurried inside my room, picked up the phone, scrolled down the contact list, and clicked on Nina’s name. However, I paused. Nina’s attitude towards me earlier on was so disrespectful, involving her in my plans would make her look down on me the most. She had to learn her lesson the hard way.
I would have mindlinked him if my wolf ability was active. Nevertheless, no biggie about that, i knew that soon enough, I would be able to let Liza out.
At dawn, my brothers returned from their workplaces except Rafe who said that he was spending the night out there. Whatever he was doing was best known to him. Among all of them, Rafe’s job was the only thing that bothered me a bit.
He could have been anything like the other brothers, an Alpha doctor, an Alpha lawyer, an Alpha business tycoon, or anything else. There are many careers out there that he could have chosen from but he decided to be an Alpha Mafia leader.
What on earth was he benefiting from it by the way? Well, the good thing was: nothing was here that he unjustly killed anyone, Damien once told me Rafe was protecting the pack in his own way. Anyways, that was his choice, and no one would stop him from doing that. If anyone could stop him, it would have been our parents when they were still alive.
I’d wanted to bring up the topic during dinner, but none of them seemed to be interested in any conversation other than asking how my day went. They all seemed so tired, as if they did all the work in their workplace alone.
Kael was the first to leave, followed by Elias, then Damien. But before he left, Damien asked if I needed anything which allowed me to talk to him about my need.
“Why should I invite Lana to a conference you are holding?”
He was surprised, coupled with all the things Lana had done.
“Just.”
Damien stared at me for a while, suspicion visible on his face.
“What’s the conference all about?”
“About the pack’s safety.”
“And why should Lana be there? Are you…”
“It isn’t what you think it is, just get her there. And when you are sending her the invitation, make sure it looks like Kael sent it.”
After a long persuasion, Damien agreed to send it but on one condition that I wouldn’t let Kael find out it was him who sent it.
I had no idea how Damien did it, but Lana showed up at the last minute when I least expected her. When she arrived, she went straight to where I was attending to some important guest and managed to lure me aside.
o
“Kael invited me here to announce to everyone that I am the rightful heiress to the throne, not you, Aria.”
She was so confident in her words that I nearly believed her, then it hit me that Kael would never do that. Lana didn’t know what I had in store for her yet.
“Alright, let’s see if anyone will agree with that.”
I smiled.
When I noticed Lana’s attention was on the entrance, smiling, I followed her gaze and my eyes fell on Kael, Elias, and Rafe who were standing there, staring around in confusion.
Seeing them made my heart skip a beat. I didn’t invite them, I never told them I was holding a conference that day, only Damien knew. If they knew what I was trying to do, they would try to stop me.
Could he have told on me?
