Chapter 37: What If?

Aria’s POV

“Kael?”

Lana called, smiling from ear to ear like she had seen some celebrities. She drew their attention to us and the moment they saw us, their brows creased into a frown. I didn’t know if that was for Lana or me, but I got to find out when they dragged me into a corner.

“Why would you invite Lana to a place like this?”

They didn’t like the idea because they already knew her plans.

“You could have informed me you were holding a conference so that I would plant my guys all over the place.”

As Rafe spoke, he was pulling out his phone, then excused himself and stepped away.

Elias also showed his displeasure, except for Kael who didn’t utter a word. He already knew that I wanted to exile Lana,

“Whatever I say now won’t make you change your mind, right?”

Kael asked, and nodded his head when I said yes.

“Okay. Then do it if you think it is the right thing. After all, you are the Alpha leader.”

Thank goodness. Meanwhile, it surprised me so much that Kael didn’t try to stop me. He was beginning to accept my decisions.

“What are you guys talking about?”

Elias was confused.

“What is Aria going to say? And why aren’t you stopping her if you know, Kael?”

Kael didn’t answer, neither did I. And before he could throw another question, Rafe returned.

“My guys are all over the place now, rest assured that this conference will go well. My sister must be safe.”

His attention wasn’t with us when he was speaking, and the moment he lifted his head and noticed Elias staring at me in suspicion, he raised a brow in surprise.

“What is it?”

“I think Aria is up to…”

“Guys?”

Lana interrupted, beaming in excitement.

“How do I look?”

She turned in 360, displaying her waterfall ball gown. She indeed looked pretty in that dress that one would think she was the hostess of the conference, anyways, it was all about her, so dressing that way was a good thing. It wouldn’t even be too hard for the pack members to recognize her after the announcement.

“I ordered this especially for this occasion and guess what?”

She went on fooling herself because none of them seemed to be interested in what she was saying. Rafe even looked like he could pull out his gun and shatter her head.

“Kael?”

She wrapped her arms around his.

“Thank you for finally seeing the truth and for acknowledging me as the real sister. Now everyone must know that this imposter is a nobody.”

Hearing that, Kael chuckled, nodding his head.

Damien did play tricks on her. How could he raise her expectation so high? I’d wanted to burst out laughing, but I held it in just like Elias, Rafe, and Damien who had just joined us.

“Aria?”

Lana called, walking towards me.

“After today, your life will be hell more than when you were staying at Moonclaw Pack. You will regret stepping here claiming to be the real daughter. I won’t allow you to leave here, you are going to serve me till the end of your life.”

I was glad she let out her true intention in front of them, however, that didn’t move Lana a bit. She was enjoying the moment, so I didn’t ruin it for her. I allowed her to say whatever she wanted to say and when she was done, I finally said something.

“Okay.”

I shrugged, turned around, and left.

I didn’t know what Lana had said to them that made Damien laugh out so loud, drawing the onlookers’ attention to them. Lana looked so disgusted by what he had done and started scolding him like he was her litttle brother.

“It is set, Alpha Aria.”

Alissa, my assistant, informed me as I approached the conference hall.

“Great! Get everyone in.”

‘Are you sure this is a good idea?’

Liza sighed worriedly.

‘What if they don’t agree with you?’

I understood her fear, but that didn’t mean we shouldn’t at least try our best.

“Do not worry, i got this.”

When she had lay calm and my mind was cleared, i sat on the Alpha’s seat, facing the pack members as they hurried inside, bowing their heads to me before sitting down.

Since gossip was in their blood like a disease, they started whispering to each other.

“I heard Alpha Kael and his brothers will announce Miss Lana as the real heiress.”

“I didn’t hear that, i saw it on the internet this morning. Miss Lana posted it on her wall.”

Curiosity got a hold of me after hearing that last sentence. I searched for Lana’s social media handle and her last post was an hour ago, announcing that from that day, she must be shown respect as her life was about to change.

Everyone under her comment had typed congratulations, others said they couldn’t wait for her to be the Alpha leader, and others were praising her. There wasn’t a single comment that was agaisnt her which showed they were all afraid of her.

If Lana had that great support from the pack members, would what i was about to do work out? Different negative thoughts started racing in my mind. What if they disagree as soon as i make the announcement? What if the table turned and i became their target?

“Alpha Aria, everyone is around.”

My brothers were all up on their seats opposite mine, including Lana. I had ni idea when they came up as i was so engrossed in my thoughts.

Alissa handed me the microphone after making the introduction. I stood up, my legs wobbling. It was as if i would fall off the stage and become a laughingstock. To avoid any embarassment, i clutched the microphone, inhaled deeply, exhaled, and regained my confidence.

“Bloodmoon pack members, i greet you all.”

They all bowed their heads as custom demanded, then i continued.

“Someone among us, who had lived in this pack for years is trying to stage a war.”

Gasps escaped, echoing around the hall. My eyes shifted to Lana, seated beside Kael, who had started shifting uncontrollably in her seat. Seeing her that way gave me the confidence i had lost few minutes ago and my face brightened up.

“Do you guys think we should leave that person in this pack?”

“No!”
