Chapter 38: Chasing the Enemy Away

Aria’s POV

Their echoes were like music to my ears and fuel increasing the fire in my heart.

“She must be exiled!”

They echoed in desperation.

“What is Aria trying to do?”

Lana asked uncomfortably. She sounded so guilty, like she knew I was talking about her.

“The right thing, Lana, sit quietly and listen to her, you don’t want to miss a single word.”

Kael pulled her back into her seat, smiling wickedly. If he hadn’t done that, we both knew that Lana might take an excuse and run away from the conference hall.

“So there is someone like that? And they are still living in this pack? I wonder who that is.”

Damien sighed, pretending to be hearing that for the first time. Even Rafe and Elias played along. None of them wanted to alert Lana that they knew the person I was referring to.

“Alpha Aria?”

One of the pack members raised her hand. She shot to her feet when I signalled to her to speak.

“Don’t you think we should be fast with the execution? Some of us left our children at home, others are in the school and their work places respectfully. We are afraid the evil person will alert the rogues to attack the pack and slaughter everyone who isn’t here.”

“Yes, please, Alpha Aria. Point out that person if they are here, so we can get rid of them before they…”

“Yes!”

Others chorused.

Lana, seeing that the situation was getting out of hand, shot to her feet, panic visible on her face. Even the bag she was holding was shaking as a result of her trembling.

“Can you guys excuse me, please? I have an important thing to attend to.”

As she turned to leave, Kael clutched her wrist and got on his feet.

“Aria isn’t done talking, it is so rude to walk out when an Alpha is giving a speech.”

Kael was trying all he could to keep her abiss, but Lana, smart, had already realised she was cooked. She wriggled her hand, trying to break free from his grip, but he wouldn’t let go of her.

“Why do you insist… I… I stay here? This has nothing to do with me.”

She stuttered.

“Besides, this isn’t what you wrote in the message you sent to me. You said my presence here is important because you guys have found out that Aria is an imposter and I’m the real sister, and also the heiress to the Alpha throne. Why the sudden change of mind? Why is she the one speaking? And why aren’t you guys stopping her?”

I had wondered what Damien had said to her that gave her that confidence earlier on, but the moment she said that, I couldn’t help but give Damien a thumbs up with my hand. He did a great job lying to her that way. Lana was such a fool to have believed that.

Shouldn’t she have seen through the message that everything was staged? Kael would never say that to her. Among all the brothers, he was the one who hated her the most.

“I never sent you a message.”

He released her hand.

Lana gasped, eyes darting from one brother to the other. When she couldn’t fathom who could have done that among them, she turned to me.

“It was you, wasn’t it?”

Her eyes suddenly turned red, reminding me of the day she went mad and let out her wolf: the day she attacked me.

“How dare you trick me?”

She charged towards me, but Rafe was quick to block the way.

“Allow me to tear her apart, how could she make a fool out of me?”

“Get back to your senses, Lana!”

Rafe warned, but she wouldn’t listen to him.

“I will deal with you, Aria! I must!”

“She is threatening the Alpha leader.”

Words audible enough to be a whisper broke out among the pack members.

“Is she allowed to do that?”

“Why aren’t the Alpha brothers saying a word?”

“I am beginning to think this conference is about Miss Lana.”

“Maybe she is that person Alpha Aria was talking about earlier.”

Hearing all the statements, Lana calmed down, then burst into tears.

“If you guys hated me this much, you should just keep out of my way instead of humiliating me this way.”

“But I haven’t mentioned the main thing here. Why are you already crying? Do you perhaps know the…”

“Shut up!”

She barked.

“I won’t waste another minute here.”

Lana pulled away from Rafe, picked up her handbag which had fallen on the floor and turned to leave. Seeing that, I used the opportunity to freeze her on the spot with the next thing.

“The Black family is disowning Lana.”

Lana froze, slowly turning back. Her face was dry like she wasn’t the one shedding tears earlier on.

“Our father, the late Alpha leader, and our mother the late Luna, adopted her when they lost me. However, Lana has decided to pay back their kindness with evil. She is plotting treason, to wipe out everyone in this pack who won’t support her ascending to the Alpha position.”

Lana’s eyes snapped wide, and the bag she was holding slipped from her hand.

Everyone gasped, then the hall went deadly silent like a graveyard.

“Because of her obsession to rule this pack, Lana has joined hands with Alpha Gregory of Moonclaw Pack to stage a war here. Therefore, she will be disowned and exiled from this Bloodmoon Pack and will no longer be a part of us!”

“Yes!”

The crowd went berserk. The next second, objects were thrown at Lana. None of my brothers shielded her from being hit, and no one dared to stop the curses being laid on her.

Lana wanted to run out of the hall out of embarrassment, but the bodyguards stopped her at my command.

“Aria?”

Elias whispered from behind.

“Isn’t this a bit far?”

A bit far? He must be out of his mind. What I did was the safest way to get her out of the pack safely. If I had just announced it without inviting Lana there, the pack members would have stormed into her residence, dragged her out, and even burned her alive.

“Lock her in jail!”

“Wait!”

Someone shouted from the crowd.
