Chapter 42: The Supreme Alpha

Aria’s POV

Kael and I set out early the next day without telling me which of the packs we were going to. I sat in the back seat with him, deep in thought. Nothing positive came into my mind about the perrson we were going to see.

My mind couldn’t stop feeding me with what ifs, causing me to draw a conclusion that that person won’t be of any help to us. Remembering Kael’s words from the previous day that whoever we were going to see would do anything for me made me wonder again.

What if we go there and he refuses? Among all the packs in the kingdom, only I was the female Alpha. Although the rule doesn’t mind any gender being an Alpha, some packs were still against it. If the pack we were traveling to see had that mindset too, then we were doomed.

“A penny for your thoughts.”

Kael snapped his fingers on my face, reviving me back to reality. I sighed deeply, adjusted my butt, and shook my head hopelessly.

“You didn’t sleep?”

Yeah, I didn’t, not even a yawn. My mind was filled with worry that sleep decided to stay far away from me last night.

“You shouldn’t let this bother you, everything will be fine.”

I had tried to not let it get into my head, but I couldn’t control it as it was beyond me.

“So where are we going?”

I finally asked.

Kael checked his wristwatch first before answering me.

“Almost there.”

That wasn’t what I was looking forward to hearing; I wanted him to tell me the exact place we were going to. He couldn’t just keep that from me and tag it as a surprise.

“Where?”

He chuckled softly.

“The Supreme Alpha.”

My eyes snapped wide instantly. The Supreme Alpha was the leader of all the Alphas in the kingdom. He is the second in command after the Royal Majesty, and everyone, every Alpha, fears him.

I had never seen him before, no one had ever seen him. Rumors have it that some of the Alphas have never come in contact with him and those who had didn’t want to again.

Why was Kael taking me to see him? And why would he be willing to help me?

“You are gone again.”

He tapped me, smiling. I faced him and said the one thing that was running in my mind.

“Hint me.”

He nodded, checked his wristwatch again, and exhaled.

“The Supreme Alpha died years ago,”

“What!”

How did I skip that important information?

“Then who are we going to meet if not him?”

I was beginning to get pissed off. How could he play that trick on me?

“His son.”

“Dude, you should have just said the father is dead but the son is now the supreme Alpha. You almost made me doubt you.”

I rolled at him and folded my arms in annoyance.

“Go on.”

I swirled my fingers, signaling for him to continue.

“We are here. See things for yourself when we get in.”

And we were indeed there. My mind kept racing as we made our way inside the magnificent mansion belonging to the Supreme Alpha. I had no idea we were already in the city while passing the tall buildings, and the beautiful houses, I assumed it was just another pack.

“Alpha Kael and… who is this?”

The middle-aged man who opened the huge entrance door asked, staring at me as if I were a criminal. If I were alone with him, I would have given him a piece of my mind by just staring at me that way.

“My sister, the Alpha leader of the Bloodmoon Pack.”

The annoying man scanned me from head to toe, as if contemplating something. His attitude provoked me so much that I was on the verge of yelling at him but Kael interrupted.

“Didn’t you hear what I said?”

Kael frowned at him.

“I heard you, Alpha Kael. But she is the Alpha leader of the Bloodmoon pack? How?”

“Are you living in the past?”

I snapped, letting out my anger.

“Don’t you use the internet?”

“I do, miss. Do not talk to me that way.”

“No, you don’t. If you do, you would have recognized me the moment you saw me. Are you perhaps looking down on me? You must be one of those who think a female must never be a leader!”

“Do not put words in my mouth, miss, I am not…”

“Then why do you keep calling me a Miss? Didn’t you hear my brother calling me an Alpha?”

I felt so good lashing out at him. Next time, he wouldn’t mess with the wrong person.

“You are here to see the Supreme Alpha, right? Please come in.”

He turned around, hurrying away. Kael wouldn’t stop giggling as the man led us to the extravagant living room. After he had shown us where to sit, he said he was going to get the Supreme Alpha and left.

“You roasted him.”

Kael laughed softly.

“Dude, he was looking down on me. How dare he?”

“You did the right thing. Next time, he wouldn’t do it again.”

Then something crossed my mind. What if he told the Supreme Alpha what I did to him and they decided not to help me? But it wasn’t my fault, the man started it.

Minutes turned into an hour yet, the man never returned. I was so thirsty but unlike my mansion, no maid was present in the Supreme Alpha’s mansion to send around. I was beginning to think Kael had taken us somewhere else.

“When is he coming? I am thirsty and tired.”

“Be patient.”

He patted my back. An eternity later, the man decided to come back after keeping us there forever.

“You did this on purpose, didn’t you?”

I scolded him as soon as he stepped inside the living room. However, he looked so worried plus tired like he was engaged in hard labor for all the time he was away.

“No, Alpha Aria, I have been looking all over the place for him, I can’t find him.”

“The Supreme Alpha is missing?”

I was confused.

“He isn’t, just running away from his duty.”

Kael scoffed, getting up.

“We should leave. Apparently, he doesn’t want to see us.”

I shot to my feet angrily, grabbed my handbag, and followed Kael to the parking lot, mumbling angrily. If he didn’t want to see us, he could have just mentioned it instead of keeping us there like we got nothing of our own to do.

Before we would enter the car, I saw Jace coming out from one of the many cars parked there. He didn’t notice me at first and when he did, he seemed to be shocked.

“A… ria. What brought you here?”

“No, what brought you here? Are you tailing me?”

Kael patted my back gently, trying to calm me down. He should be yelling at Jace and threatening him to stay away from me, not calming me down.

“The Supreme Alpha! Thank goodness!”

The middle-aged man from earlier on said, running towards us. I looked around, but no one was standing there apart from us, there wasn’t anyone who looked like the Supreme Alpha.

“These are the guests that came to see you.”

Suddenly, he bowed to Jace, making me freeze when the truth hit me.

Jace was the Supreme Alpha.
