Chapter 46: Bound to Protect Her

Jace’s POV

Regan shut his mouth, his eyes rolling like he had said something he wasn’t supposed to. But I didn’t even believe what he said, my uncle would never do that to me. That man loved me more than his children, he adored me and had never done anything that wasn’t in my favor.

The Rogues were known for their abilities to cause misunderstanding even between a child and their parents, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that was what Regan was trying to do.

“Do what I say about the Bloodmoon pack or have yourself to blame if anything happens to them.”

That was my final warning to him before storming out of the mansion. At that moment, I had a change of mind, I was going to claim my position as the Supreme Alpha to help Aria. I wasn’t going to let the Rogues or any other person in the kingdom hurt her, she is my mate, and I am bound to protect her.

‘Look over there.’

My wolf turned my attention to the parking lot where two people had just stepped out of the car. They were a lady and a dude who looked so familiar even with their backs turned on me. They looked like Lana and Gregory, and I wasn’t wrong when they turned towards me.

Apparently, they were talking about something because Lana was all smiles, but as soon as her eyes met mine, the smile faded, overtaken by shock. They were as shocked as I was seeing them. So the rumors weren’t lies anyway, Gregory and Lana were the Rogues’ minions.

“So it is the truth.”

I chuckled, approaching them where they stood rooted to a spot.

“You guys are joining hands with the Rogues to attack Aria, correct?”

None of them said anything, they were too shocked to utter a word. Suddenly, footsteps sounded behind me, and Cassey, Regan’s daughter, stepped in front of me. Her aura was so rough that it made me want to puke.

“You again.”

She hissed at me when she realized I was the one standing there. Cassey and I were never on good terms. It all started on the first day I set foot in the pack, I said on her face that they all smelled like mud, and that their aura was so rough.

“What do you want now? To say we look like objects?”

“Just wait until I take what is mine, I am going to wipe you all out.”

Cassey knew I meant what I said because I had never said a word to her without it coming to pass. She scoffed at my words, looked at Lana and smiled.

“You are finally here, bestie, was waiting for you. And oh, you brought your mate, that’s a bonus!”

She giggled, but when she noticed that Lana and Gregory’s gaze was on me, she frowned.

“Do you guys know him?”

She pointed at me as if I was some kind of pup.

“Absolutely not.”

Lana faked a smile. I wasn’t surprised by her answer at all, that was so her.

“I thought you knew him. Well, he is Jace, the guy who thinks he can be the Supreme Alpha.”

“What do you mean?”

Lana seemed more interested.

“He is the only son his late father, the Supreme Alpha left behind, so that makes him the heir to the throne.”

Lana’s jaw dropped, and I am glad I didn’t miss her reaction.

“Do you mean Jace right here is…”

“Are you saying he…”

Both Lana and Gregory couldn’t complete their words.

“Yes, but there is nothing important about him. Just ignore him and follow me.”

Lana couldn’t lift a step, her eyes were fixed on me. If I could hear her thoughts at that moment, then it would be that she wanted me. She was a desperate fool who never let an opportunity pass her by.

And I wasn’t wrong at all because that same day, I received a call from an unknown number. At the first statement, I recognized it was Lana.

“I’ve been thinking about you all day long.”

She said, her tone so low like she was speaking with her mate.

“So you decided to call after finding out I am the heir to the Supreme Alpha’s throne, right?”

“That’s not true.”

She giggled like the hypocrite she was.

“You and I have been dating. Have you already forgotten?”

Typical Lana, moving from one man to another. Over the years I’ve known her, I came to the realization that she changes mates like she changes dresses. If her current mate had nothing she would benefit from, she would dump him and get in touch with another person.

First, I thought she was only into Alphas until she approached me and said she wanted me to be her mate. I didn’t take it serious, i never felt connected to her however, I just played along.

“You dumped me for Gregory.”

She scoffed,

“I am not together with Gregory. We are just business partners.”

Like I was deaf and blind.

I was on the verge of telling her to cut the call and never call me, but then something crossed my mind. If I could pretend to be interested in Lana, she would do anything I told her to without arguing. That way, I would make her tell Regan to withdraw his plan on attacking Aria’s pack.

“So when are we going on a date?”

Lana became so excited immediately after I mentioned that.

“Anytime you wish, Supreme Alpha. But Aria doesn’t know you are the heir, right?”

“No, she doesn’t. Unless you want her to know.”

“Of course not. I can’t lose you to her. If she finds out about this, she will be my obstacle.”

After deciding on when and where to go on a date, I ended the call and left the room to go see my uncle.

Something had been swirling in my mind ever since I returned from the Redmoon pack—something Regan said about my uncle wanting his son to be the Supreme Alpha. I would have been happy with that decision if Aria wasn’t turned down, instead, I was eager to hear it from my uncle to be sure it was the truth.

As soon as I held the door handle to his room, Aunt Tina’s voice rang in my ear, she seemed to be so upset.

“You have to be quick in making Alex the Supreme Alpha.”

She sighed deeply,

“Relax, Tina, everything is going just the way I want it. Besides, Jace doesn’t want to ascend the throne, so what is left now is to carry out our next plan.”

The next plan?
