Chapter 47: Backstabbed

Jace’s POV

Mysteriously, I couldn’t hear the rest of their conversation. Apparently, my wolf blocked my ears from hearing it, or they felt my presence and stopped talking. Coupled with the intense gravity of what I heard them talking about, my legs wobbled, and as I hurried back to my room, my heart kept pounding nonstop.

Never have I ever thought that a day would come when my uncle would turn evil, especially toward me. Aunt Tina would do worse than that, but him?

I couldn’t believe he even had a plan for me. That was something I would never have believed if someone had told me that. But I heard it myself.

‘This is serious.’

Yeah, that was definitely serious, and dangerous. So Regan wasn’t wrong after all. I’d wondered how many people in the whole kingdom knew that the Supreme Alpha hated his own nephew–the real heir to the throne just because he wanted his son to ascend the throne.

I was so foolish to have believed in him from the beginning. I should have listened to those who had warned me to stay away from my uncle and when the time came for me to claim the throne, I should have done that without another thought.

But what did I do to them? I reported them to my uncle whom I called father and he punished them severely. It didn’t stop there, he tormented their lives until they couldn’t take it anymore and eventually fled the city.

“Supreme Alpha, you called.”

My assistant was taken aback in surprise when he saw me arranging a few clothes in a suitcase. Funny enough, I would have reminded him to stop referring to me as the Supreme Alpha, instead, I found it amusing.

That was my title, it belonged to me and nothing would change that. For Aria’s safety, I must reclaim what is mine.

“We are leaving the mansion for…”

“Forever?”

He asked shockingly.

“But you can’t do that, this place belongs to you. And if there is anyone who should move out, then your uncle and his entire family should.”

The story of my life. My assistant just assumed things I wanted to say without letting me complete it first.

“I ain’t leaving forever.”

He sighed in relief.

“We will be leaving the mansion for just a few days until the Rogues are dealt with.”

He nodded, took the work from me, and completed it as I did other things. After we were done, he took the luggage to the car while I freshened up.

Before I was about to go out, Selena, the one who assumed she was my fiancée, came into the room. She was so enraged, and as she stared at me in anger, I thought she had come to perhaps cut off my head.

“How could you do this to me?”

She started crying like a baby.

“You and I have been in love for quite some time now, Jace. You even promised to mark me as your mate!”

I racked my brain, trying to remember when I told her that, but it was just a waste of time. Ever since I grew up with them, they’d just wake up and put words in my mouth. I never say no to whatever they say, I just agree that I said it just to belong.

But not anymore. She wouldn’t just lie in my presence, expecting me to say yes to it. Maybe her parents had promised her that seeing how obsessed she was with me.

“Get a life, cousin. I am not interested in you. Go get someone who is as desperate as you to mate with.”

As Selena fell on her knees crying, I left, ignoring her tantrums.

Unlike the other days they would bombard me with calls and messages whenever I left the mansion, I got nothing from them. Selena would have been crying nonstop that I returned home or else she would have taken her own life, and doctors would have been on my uncle’s head already.

But none of that happened which was such a relief. They’d finally shown me that they never cared about me and had always wanted me to be gone for good.

“Get Lana here.”

My assistant was hesitant and the way he was looking at me showed something stupid was running in his mind.

“We can get you another she wolf to mate with, Supreme Alpha. Do not stoop so low for Lana. She is known to have mated with multiple men…”

“Get your head straight and get out of here!”

I thundered, causing him to stagger out of the room. The thought of kissing Lana alone made me want to puke. How could he even come up with that stupid thought? Jeez! I was so upset.

If Lana was already outside my apartment was what I couldn’t bring myself to understand because as soon as my assistant left the living room, he returned with Lana. She didn’t look like she had just arrived, and my assistant said she came after he called her.

“I was waiting for your call, Supreme Alpha.”

As she walked towards me, her hips were swaying, and the long slit in her gown exposed her right hip to her waist. She must have come prepared because she wasn’t wearing any underwear. Even her nipples were clearly visible, but that wasn’t my problem.

She could seduce me the entire day without putting me in the mood. Selene had tried that multiple times, even touched my manhood when I was asleep, yet nothing happened.

At first, I was confused with the whole “not getting in the mood” thing, but I came to realize that my mood was elevated whenever I was with Aria.

The reason why I didn’t tell her to leave my side when she sat beside me was just to suck out information from her and use her as much as I wanted. And Lana didn’t disappoint me. Besides, why would she even do that? She was eager to be my mate so that she would become the chosen Mate of the Supreme Alpha.

Jokes on her.

“So what’s next?”

Her hand slid inside my t-shirt, caressing my chest, and playing with my nipples. Only she got in the mood and because I was busy on the phone, I didn’t know she was even doing that: I felt nothing.

“What are you doing?”

My assistant jolted her back to her senses.

“You shouldn’t be doing this to the Supreme Alpha.”

“And how is that your business?”

She snapped, retrieving her hand from my shirt.

“You are merely an assistant, dude. What the Supreme Alpha and I do is none of your business.”

She turned to me and spoke in a bittersweet voice.

“I want him fired, Honey.”

So funny. She thought she was important to me.
