Return of the Alpha Heiress
Chapter 48: Forced to Forget Him
Chapter 49
Aria’s POV
After returning from the city, my brothers took things into their hands.
They’d already promised right from the beginning that they would never let anyone trample on me and they kept their word. As soon as Kael fed them with all that had happened back at the Supreme Alpha’s mansion, they became so upset and promised to let him pay for treating their sister that way.
They could do that. Everyone feared them in our kingdom. I once heard from Nina how my brothers brought down an Alpha and his entire pack when he insulted Elias and said he was a quack.
If the three of them could do that for their brother, now imagine what the four could do for their sister.
“Over here, Aria.”
Rafe snapped his fingers, jolting me back to my senses. They were explaining things to me, some of the things I didn’t even understand. But they wouldn’t let me go, they wanted me to understand all that they were going to do to the Supreme Alpha.
“One important thing, you must stay away from Jace.”
That hit me on the chest like a dagger. Weird enough, I never wanted to talk about Jace or want to do anything with him, but the moment Rafe said that, my heart felt weak.
“He is the Supreme Alpha’s nephew and also the heir to that throne,”
Rafe said.
“Jace would ascend the throne anytime soon which means he is going to continue from where his uncle stopped.”
Damien added.
“So you must cut him off.”
Elias chipped in.
But none of that got into my head. How do they just want me to cut him off? It wasn’t his fault, it was his uncle who shunned me. I couldn’t even bring myself to agree with that.
“Is there something you would like to add, Aria?”
Kael asked as if he knew my mind was disagreeing with them.
“Jace is willing to help me.”
They turned to me at once, brows raised in surprise.
“I mean… he wasn’t happy with the way his uncle treated me…”
“What are you insinuating? That you won’t stay away from him?”
Rafe scowled.
“No… not that. We shouldn’t just assume he would take after his uncle’s footsteps just because…”
“Are you in love with him?”
Damien cut me off.
I was speechless–couldn’t answer his question because I wasn’t sure if what I was having for him was love or not. For no reason, I couldn’t just stop defending him.
“We are listening.”
I sighed deeply, then shook my head. How could I answer what I didn’t know?
“I don’t know.”
I said. Literally, it wasn’t what they were expecting to hear from me. They all looked unsatisfied with what I had said.
“Yes, or no, is what we want to hear.”
Seeing me quiet again, Rafe shot to his feet in anger. He ran his fingers on the tattoo on his face and chuckled annoyingly.
“If I can understand you better…”
He paused.
“You are in love with that scumbag who watched his uncle say all sorts of things to you.”
“Jace isn’t a scumbag!”
“Really”
“Yes! You weren’t there to see him defending me. Kael was there! Why aren’t you saying anything, Kael?”
Kael shook his head, exhaling.
“Rafe is right. Forget about Jace. And if you are in love with him, stop your heart from doing that.”
Whoa! That was unexpected. He should have just explained to them how Jace got my back.
“You know what?”
I got up, taking in a deep breath.
“Let’s talk about this later, okay? I mean the thingy about Jace.”
Jace’s situation shouldn’t make me and my brothers engage in a fight. They only wanted the best for me and even though I knew I wasn’t going to cut Jace off, they shouldn’t know that.
“Are you upset?”
Elias asked softly.
“Of course not. Why should I be mad at my brothers for caring for me? You guys just want the best for your little sister and I appreciate that.”
I smiled, forcing myself to stay calm. Liza was upset, she was pacing in my mind and right there, I felt like she wanted to come out and charge at them so I had to leave. If she wanted to finally come out that day, then it shouldn’t be in their presence.
“Are you sure you are alright?”
Rafe held my hand as I nearly fell on the floor. My vision was becoming blurry, and a deadly headache hit me like a stone.
“I will take you to your room.”
As Rafe helped me up the stairs, I heard the rest of my brothers talking to themselves.
“Is she acting that way because we want her to end whatever she has with Jace?”
“Do you think there is anything between them?”
Yes, it had something to do with what they said, but why?
“Get some rest. When you are awake, we will continue with our plan.”
After Rafe had left, I sat upright, tapping my aching head.
“Can you stop it already?”
I snapped at Liza who wouldn’t stop whining and pacing. Her actions were hurting me a lot, i was on the verge of losing my mind.
‘They are forcing us to leave our mate!’
She teethed. But our mate?
‘Let me out, Aria!’
Her scream pierced my head and before it stopped, I lost consciousness and passed out.
When I opened my eyes later, I was still in my room, on the carpet, my hair a mess. My whole body ached and for some reason, I felt some changes in my body. I felt so weak, my skin had turned pale, and I could see more clearly.
“Liza?”
I called but got no response from her. I couldn’t feel her presence either, not even her breath.
“Liza?”
I called again yet there was no response. So I gave up, got up, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. As soon as my eyes met the mirror, terror flashed in them.
There was a tiny silver mark running down my chin, and my already black hair had turned so dark with little silver particles on it.
Shockingly, everything disappeared in just a blink of an eye, throwing me into the most confusing state I had ever found myself in.
What was happening to me? Where was Lizzy?
