Chapter 60: The Alpha’s Identity

Aria’s POV

Perhaps they didn’t understand what I meant by that as they ended up exchanging confused glances again.

“How does it benefit us?”

Hans asked on their behalf.

“Every good person in the kingdom is commending the seven pack Alphas’ efforts for removing the Rogues’ investment from their packs. They are all saying you guys stood up for the innocent lady that was tortured to death in the Bloodmoon pack which is what the king and the supreme Alpha should be doing.”

They nodded their heads in agreement.

“Even if I don’t give anything back, you guys have shown that the Rogues have no place in this kingdom and even if they do, they shouldn’t be given a pack of their own. Now tell me, do you think Regan calling himself an Alpha is a good thing?”

“Not at all, Aria. The Alphas aren’t rebels and thugs. All we do is rule our packs peacefully, and respect those in other packs.”

“Exactly!”

Finally, they were getting it.

“So demanding something from me in return is not worth it. You guys have done what the king and the supreme Alpha failed to do. So if we can gather the rest of the Alphas to do the same thing you did, this kingdom will be respected. And all the Alphas who fought for peace will be remembered in generations to come.”

That went well, they really loved that speech.

“Thank you for the reminder, Aria. And we want you to know that we didn’t intend to request payback, we just wanted to be a part of this great pack’s business. If you don’t think you can partner with us, that is fine. We are honored to be of help to you so whenever you need another help, just put a call through.”

I didn’t say more to them, I let them go. Staying there and talking more would make them say something that might provoke me and I would lose it.

Well, the way they left with cold shoulders made me understand that that wasn’t the end. They wouldn’t just give up on talking to me about their needs, and if I refused, things would escalate. At that moment, I fed my mind to be prepared for anything worse that could happen.

The moment the cars were out of sight, another convoy drove inside the company. They were my brothers, and they weren’t looking happy.

“Where are they?”

Rafe asked, approaching me.

“They just left. Any problem?”

“Aria, stop involving other Alphas in this again, no one will help you seek justice without requesting something.”

I already knew that however, I was already done seeking any help. The seven powerful packs had cancelled their collaborations with the Rogues and those were the packs that they earned huge profits from. What they were earning from the rest of the pack wouldn’t even last them for weeks not to talk of months.

“We are already doing what we could.”

Damien said.

“Just leave the rest to us.”

Elias added.

I bobbed my head, smiling.

“No problem, you guys can continue. I promise not to involve anyone again.”

After all, I was done with what I wanted to do. If there was something else they would do, then it would just be a bonus.

Kael, who hadn’t uttered a word, held my hand and took me aside.

“Tell me, Aria, did any of them demand something from you?”

“Absolutely not.”

I lied.

“Didn’t I tell you that they are doing this for justice? They didn’t request anything and they never will.”

Lying to Kael was the best thing unless I wanted him to start a war with those Alphas. If that happened, things wouldn’t turn out well. The whole kingdom would laugh at us, and call me names for being an ingrate.

“Are you sure?”

I scoffed, releasing my hand from his.

“Do I look like I am lying to you?”

“I am not sure, sis. But if you are lying, you’d better spill out the truth unless you want things to get out of hand.”

“Never mind. Nothing is going to happen. Also, the Rogues have been dealt with, so the case is closed.”

I shrugged my shoulders.

“Well, I think you should get ready to visit the king because he might be sending a delegate here now.”

“For what?”

“To summon you and ask why you are teaming up with the Alphas.”

“Because I dealt with the Rogues?”

“Yes.”

“Okay. I am ready. I think it is time to give the king a piece of my mind too.”

Kael chuckled softly, shaking his head.

“Who did you take after, Aria? I am sure it isn’t Mum.”

“Then it must be Dad.”

That day, they didn’t let me go to bed early, they sat me down in the living room after dinner and fed me the information I didn’t ask for. They told me everything about the seven Alphas I had teamed up with, their hidden secrets, and the unhidden ones.

I got to find out from them that Alpha Hans was a cousin to the supreme Alpha which was the reason why he was one of the powerful Alphas. Alpha Ken was the Supreme Alpha’s niece, and the remaining five were either cousins to the Supreme Alpha’s wife, nieces, or just distant family.

It was no wonder the seven of them were so close, and no wonder they were the ones that the Rogues’ biggest investment was. Hans did lie to me when he said they were just friends.

Meanwhile, that revelation made me wonder if they did what they did with good intention or if they would take back their words and team up with the Rogues later on.

Whatever it was, I had to be prepared for any outcome. Since the Supreme Alpha and his family already hated me, the entire family teaming up against me in the future wouldn’t be a surprise.

After hours of lectures, warnings, and everything, they finally released me to go to bed.

‘Jace will help us if things go south.’

Liza’s voice giggled in my ears. I was so startled because for some reason, I had forgotten that I even had a wolf. She had been silent for hours ever since I rejected Jace.

“What is your problem? If Jace is what is ahead of you, then keep dreaming and stop bringing him up!”

As soon as I snapped at her, a sharp pain pierced the Mate mark on my neck, causing me unbearable pain.
