Chapter 61: Reclaiming My Position

Jace’s POV

Seeing Alpha Hans in the Bloodmoon pack and what Aria said about him helping her weighed on my mind ever since I returned to the city.

The fact that she even rejected me didn’t hurt me a bit because I knew that she would definitely take me back when she was done dealing with the Rogues.

However, the mistake she was making couldn’t allow me to concentrate on so many things.

Those seven Alphas she thought were helping her weren’t doing that for free, I was sure they would demand something from her and if she refused them, it wouldn’t end well.

Hans is my uncle’s cousin which makes him my uncle too. He is the youngest among them all and the only uncle that we don’t settle with.

Even though he wasn’t a fan of visiting the city to see us, he always picked up a fight with me whenever we crossed paths.

The day that the house went bananas because of Aria’s visit, Hans was around but decided not to show his face. It was when Aria had gone that he decided to step out to chip in what he wasn’t asked.

That said, he spoiled Aria’s name calling her a spoiled, rude little urchin, and said he was waiting for an opportunity to deal with her.

And when he was told that I called her my woman, Hans was upset. He talked me out of it saying she wasn’t worth mating with me because I would be the Supreme Alpha and she was just an Alpha whom he didn’t even admit.

Aria thought Hans was a good person with a neat intention but behind that smiley face is a dark mind capable enough to turn the world upside down.

And the rest of the Alphas that helped? They were as dangerous as Hans and the acting supreme Alpha were.

The day I saw the internet going bizarre with posts and comments regarding the other packs terminating their contracts with the Rogues, I knew things wouldn’t end well.

Since Hans had managed to involve the rest of the family, especially those from Aunt Tina’s side, I knew I had to protect Aria and there was only one way to do that—to reclaim my throne from my uncle.

So I was set to talk to him that day, ready for whatever outcome it would bring.

By the time I left my room to go see him, he was in a meeting that was tagged as ‘Very important’ by Aunt Tina when she saw me trying to enter the meeting hall.

“You are useless,”

She repeated the same thing she would always say to my face whenever I wanted to go see my uncle.

“Your uncle is in an important meeting and you want to go in there? Why? To ruin the atmosphere?”

I tried as much as I could to avoid getting upset by her words but the more she said them, the more rage surged into my heart.

When I couldn’t take it any longer, I shut her up, glaring at her.

“Do not talk to me that way ever again, Tina!”

Aunt Tina was shocked and speechless. She never imagined that a day would come when I would yell at her that way.

Since I was growing up, she would yell at me, stop me from doing things, and involve her children instead.

“How dare you!”

I got hold of her hand as she tried to connect my face with it.

“If you dare let your fingers touch my face, you will be done for!”

In that situation, my uncle stepped out of the meeting hall together with Alex.

“Get your hand off of my mother!”

Alex ordered, his eyes rolling in its socket in anger. He yanked my hand from hers, pulling it away like some sort of garbage.

“What is the meaning of this, Jace?”

My uncle was displeased.

“You know what? Let’s get out of here before you embarrass me in front of the people.”

Inside his study room, he didn’t ask his wife what caused the argument and why I was holding her hand, he asked me why I was disrespectful to his wife.

“Tina is like a mother to you because she raised you since you were a toddler.”

Can I even call that raising? She tortured me and made me lose my confidence. If it weren’t for when I left home to study in the academy as a boarding student, I would have grown up as an unintelligent person.

“I didn’t start the fight, she did because I wanted to go talk to you.”

“I was stopping him from trying to embarrass you, honey. Jace is so rude, he doesn’t respect me anymore.”

She sniffled, wiping off the tears in her eyes.

Her pretentious attitude disgusted me so much that I wanted to just leave that place and return when my uncle was alone.

That was her everyday tactic whenever she tortured me and my uncle asked why. She would always repeat the same thing and it amused me that he always believed her.

“Excuse me?”

I interrupted them as they were scolding me.

“I didn’t come for this. I think you should send your family out so that I can talk to you.”

Even my uncle was taken aback.

“This is why Jace shouldn’t be put in a supreme Alpha’s position, he is not worth it. Besides, nobody will want someone like him to rule them. Even the king won’t like it.”

Alex ran his mouth like garbage, spewing nonsense.

“And that is why my son should be the next Supreme Alpha.”

The audacity!

“What do you want to talk about, Jace?”

My uncle sighed, stirring down.

“To reclaim my supreme Alpha position.”

Gasps escaped from their lips, eyes widened in shock.

“Are you kidding me?”

Aunt Tina was the first person to get out of the shock.

“Can you even hear yourself, Jace? You, the supreme Alpha? No way! I know you are the heir but not anymore. Your uncle is so his son is now the heir.”

I didn’t know when I burst into laughter at her words. But surprisingly, my uncle didn’t shut her up as he’d always done.

By the way, what was even surprising about that? I overheard them a few days ago planning something like this.

“He is dreaming.”

Alex scoffed.

As they kept on cursing, mocking, and looking down on me, my uncle was quiet, and my eyes were fixed on him. After a few minutes, he finally spoke.

“You said you don’t want the title, Jace. What changed your mind?”

“His woman is in danger.”

Alex said and his mother laughed.

“No wonder he has been acting so stupid lately. Get your head straight, Jace, that girl doesn’t love you, she will only use you and your position to get whatever she wants then dump you later on.”

I paid no attention to them as I was staring at my uncle, waiting for what he would say.

“Dad, just tell him what is happening.”

Alex hissed.

My uncle stood up, face stern.

“I have already announced Alex as the next Supreme Alpha during the meeting today.”
