Chapter 64: Her New Tactics

Aria’s POV

That morning came with a shock that nearly cost me my breath.

When Jace told me that he was going to reclaim his position, I thought he was joking. I never knew he was serious about it or capable of reclaiming it.

His uncle was a dangerous person and rumors had it that he was planning to make his son the heir to the throne.

What amused me was Jace ascending the throne the next day after his cousin was killed in an attack.

Anyways, my curiosity didn’t last for long because as soon as I logged into the media, everyone was talking about the incident.

They said the Supreme Alpha, Jace’s uncle, sent thugs to take Jace’s life but they ended up taking his daughter’s life.

I didn’t need to be told that the daughter who sacrificed her life for Jace was the same lady the little lady was talking about the day I visited.

Her obsession with Jace made her sacrifice her life for him? That was stupid. That was something I would never do for love.

Everyone has a dream to fulfill and a purpose in life. If I sacrifice my own life for a mate, then they would fall in love with another person and entirely forget about me.

My dreams will never come true. I will never be able to return, and everything I have built will be taken over by someone else.

After reading enough gossip on the internet, I logged out, pulled the duvet aside, and dragged my legs inside the bathroom.

After taking a bath, I stepped out, got dressed, and left the room.

My brothers were all in the living room dressed in their work suits, ready to leave but seemed to be discussing something important.

And I heard what they were talking about, they were talking about Jace. But the moment they saw me, they changed the topic to something else.

“Good morning.”

I greeted them, smiles all over my face, pretending I didn’t hear what they were talking about.

“Hey baby sis. Set to leave?”

“Yep.”

“Okay.”

At the company, I summoned the new assistant, Kyra to the office. She resumed work the previous day, taking over Alissa’s position.

Seeing her the day she started working made me remember Alissa a lot. They had the same facial features, including their height. Seeing her made me miss Alissa because even though she annoyed me sometimes, her presence was always lively.

“This is a standard organization, Alpha Aria. But don’t you think it is taking so much time to launch?”

She asked as soon as she went through the document of the organization I had been planning to start. It took so long not because I had forgotten about it, but because a lot of things weren’t going smoothly. It was one problem after another.

“This is a good idea,”

She pointed at the sketch of the building Bianca, Kael’s assistant had suggested we do for the organization’s company.

“But I think the location isn’t suitable for it. If you build it there, a lot of people would find it hard to locate it.”

“That’s not true.”

Bianca, who had been sitting there chipped in.

“This is the only location that is most suitable for the company in this pack unless you want us to build it in another pack.”

They started arguing, just the way Alissa and Nina had always done when I sought their opinion over something.

Bianca was the only person with whom Alissa never argued when it came to anything such as that because their minds seemed to be linked—everything one person suggested always resonated with the other person’s.

“That’s enough.”

I stopped them, drew the document back to myself, and went through the sketching.

Nothing was wrong with it, I loved the concept and also the location. To Bianca, that was the safest place which was true. But hearing another person’s opinion wouldn’t hurt.

“Where do you think this should be?”

I asked Kyra.

“Near this company.”

“Why?”

“Because you are always here and you can always step to the next building to look into what is happening there.”

“That isn’t necessary.”

Bianca scoffed.

“If Alpha Aria could employ smart and resilient people in that company, she wouldn’t have to go there to check anything all the time. So the idea of building it opposite this place is a No for me.”

They started arguing again but this time, I didn’t say a word because I was busy reading the message that had just popped up on my phone.

The message was from Jace and he was apologizing for not telling me right on time that he had taken his place as the supreme Alpha.

Well, I didn’t complain that he didn’t tell me. Besides, what was my business with it?

‘He is coming to see us, Aria,’

Liza wagged her tail excitedly. Then she stopped and frowned.

‘This time, do not even think of sending him away. You and I know the amount of pain we’ve been enduring since he left.’

“Stop it!”

I wanted to block her, but she quickly pressed her paws on my mind, making it so heavy that I wouldn’t be able to block her.

“So you have found a way to stop me, right?”

‘Of course. Do you think you can keep doing this to me every time I have a serious thing to talk about? No way. Now listen to me!’

She snapped, her tone so harsh to my mind.

‘Jace is our mate either you like it or not. Do you see how weak we’ve been since the day he left?’

She was right. Since the day I rejected Jace, we’ve been feeling a lot weaker and under treatment by Elias. I wasn’t even thinking about him nor regretting what I did.

‘Next time, we will lose our minds if you…’

“Shut up!”

Bianca’s voice pierced through the office, drawing Liza’s and my attention. At first, I’d thought she was shutting me up from telepathically talking to my wolf until I saw her and Kyra so close to each other ready to involve themselves in a fist fight.

“What are you guys doing?”

I was so surprised because how did they even get to that stage? The last time I heard them, they were arguing about where the location of the company should be.

“She is so rude, Alpha Aria. Can you imagine what she just said to me?”

Bianca teethed, her eyes red from anger.

“She said I am a bad person and all I’ve ever wanted for you is death.”
